Sopes platter, pollo and carne asada with rice and beans

Needed a quick bite for lunch before we reached our main destination of Bill Ray Tile next door. In addition to their primary business as a carniceria, they offer a variety of standard Mexican foods. We both had the sopes platter which came with 2 sopes of your choice, rice and beans. I ordered a pollo and pastor, but they gave me carne asada instead of pastor. It was tasty so I didn't complain. Small dining area in the market with about 6 tables. Good stop for a quick bite

I just moved to Bakersfield from LA and was looking for a good Mexican food spot (especially carnitas) came with my bro and we saw a big line so we said it must be good. As we were waiting in line, we noticed people sitting down enjoying menudo. So we got some carnitas and menudo to go. Let me tell you the food here is good. Like really good, one of the best menudos and carnitas I have had outside of being in actual Mexico. Will definitely be coming again and again.

9:51am on a Monday morning 6/9/2025. Went to the restaurant area located towards the back of the store. I wanted some carnitas for the family. I asked the girl at the counter how much the pound of carnitas was. She said $14 I asked for two pounds then I seen the sign on the side of the register for. 2 pounds plus beans and all the sides plus Tortillas for $31, which was a better deal. I asked her to give me the Deal instead. I was given a yellow receipt and went to pay. When I paid another girl at the registry she rang me up to $40.04 cents. I didn't think about right then and there but as I waited for my food to be ready. I remembered she did not give me a receipt for my purchase. I looked at the sign again and from $31 to $40 was sure a bit off of the original posted "Deal Price". I gave her the benefit of the doubt and asked her if there something extra added on accident. She stated the $31 deal was only on Wednesdays, and that normal price is $37. To which I replied that is not what the sign says. It doesn't say anything about a certain day. She said she would honor the price and she refunded me $5.42. Felt like I was being overcharged on purpose because of the simple fact the first time was not given a receipt... Overall it was a off interaction but I would definitely give them another shot. The carnitas were good and seemed and tastes fresh. The only thing was the cuero was a bit hard. It needed to be left a bit longer. Store was clean and Organized, Carnitas were also 4/5 stars

One of the best Carnitas burritos I've had in town. The carnitas are cooked just right and seasoned perfectly. The rice and beans are flavorful and the salsa is delicious. Located inside the Carniceria its not very big inside but there is seating for a good size family depending on what time you get there. The meat they sell there is also pretty good I bought some marinated chicken, desmillo to grill and some chuletas de puerco adobadas that looked delicious. They have menudo on saturdays and sundays as well as birria on the menu. It's pretty much a one stop place you can get anything from simple groceries to beer to meat all in one spot it's pretty convenient.

0!!!! If possible but yelps wants me to click 1 star at least DO NOT RECOMMEND MENUDO HERE! The first time I came to have a good time eating breakfast and it was not worth it. Seen 2 plates fully served and i think they were not touched. The plate with the limes and onion was not even touched. I added so much lime and salt to my plate and it did not taste any better. Bad cook!!!! I wish I would've seen a comment like this to save $100 on this HORRIBLE breakfast and drinks. Save your money, eat breakfast at McDonald's or cook at home

Do NOT go early in the morning because you will be getting their reheated leftovers! And they are not good. We purchased about 1.5lbs of carnitas and literally received oil soaked scraps! The worst part is that the majority of clients that go in the a.m. are usually farm workers. This, to me, is unacceptable. We did go back and the manager confirmed that it was the leftovers and tried to rectify the problem. My issue is why sell it in the first place and at the same price? I'm just disappointed because this isn't the first time they've done this and I keep going back because they are usually good but this is definitely my last time going there.

Usually come here before work to order a breakfast burrito. This is the second time they gave me a carnitas burrito instead of a breakfast burrito.

I literally go here every Tuesday for 99 cent tacos. The staff is super friendly, the prices are really low, and the food is exceptionally good! I highly recommend their carnitas tacos (They're not shy with the meat). If you enjoy spicy, get the red salsa. If you like it a little more mild, try the green salsa. Either way, you won't be disappointed! Also, if you get a chance, try their homemade chips and salsa.

One of the best tasting Carne Asada in Bakersfield, I loved the clean greaseless meat and great salsas. I drove eleven miles out of my way to try them. The size was a little smaller than I was expecting for a $12 burrito(added a touch of guacamole). Regular runs about $10(Including tax) so hit them on $6 Monday! Excellent burritos and nice people as well.

For $12 bucks, I got a MASSIVE burrito here. The carnitas in my burrito was amazing and so amazing. Burrito had beans, rice, onions and cilantro in addition. The red sauce is a great compliment to this burrito however I must warn you, it is packed with some good heat. You must try this if your a fan of carnitas. Located inside the meat market you will find their resteraunt tucked away to the side. Here you will find authentic Mexican food. Prices are great, menu is great, what's not to like. Menudo is alright, but maybe I tried the carnitas on a wrong day, because they were dry. Even if there were a possibility that they were good, the tortilla will mess it up. They carge you more for a bigger tortilla and you get an equal amount of meat as the small tortilla. Service is meh, normal at it's best. read more

This place is really good. Although on my most recent visit it did take a bit longer to get the order. Its always clean and food is delicious. SO GOOD! We got a carnitas burrito and a pastor burrito on Monday special burrito night. $7 for a burrito? OMG!! And really good! Man, this is a hidden gem. Just visiting Bakersfield for a few days, but I might go BACK TOMORROW for Taco Tuesday ($1.40 for a taco? Yow!). Just a few picnic type tables inside. NOT fine dining, just really good food! Had a Carnita torta and a small piece of chicharron. The carnitas inside the torta were good. The whole was good. I ate half the chicharron and thought I would take the other half home but, it didn't make it. So I guess it was good. Will return to sample more of the menu. Nothing fancy about the place. Ambience is what you would expect from a Carniceria. read more

Staff is very nice and helpful. Prices are which is what brings you in especially with their daily specials. Maybe it is cause I don't eat pork but I was not impressed by their carne asada, chicken, or birria. Their lengua is solid. Parking is not an issue at this Mexican butcher shop that sells food, drinks, and some groceries. read more

Just stopped here along our drive home- it's right off 58 so super convenient. They have a bathroom and outdoor tables to eat, so yes it's a grocery store but it's got outdoor seating so you don't have to eat in the car. Ordered burritos which were fantastic. Not super greasy, the rice and beans were moist and it all held together. Also got chicharones- must get these, they're super fresh and you can get it with our without meat!! Legit. On weekdays they do specials- and menudo on weekends Will be returning on future road-trips for sure. read more

This is our local carniceria and taco spot. Food is good, I really like the posole and my kids love the quesadillas. Wish I had pictures to show but it never lasts long before we're done eating all of it. We're here about 2-3 times a month. Always bring it home unless you like eating in the middle of a store. Besides that it good. read more

Disgusting come on Carniceria el amigazo you can do better! I use to be a fan of this place but now I see what they do to their loyal customers. The customer before me order the same thing Asada fries, thier had everything sour cream, jalapeño, salsa. Seem to when It came to my order the cook has a personal problem with me, so he decided to make sure he give this disgusting food. Never again will I stop here for lunch! read more

Came in today for a quick lunch, and turns out that's exactly what it was! I was greeted at the door by a couple that appeared to be the owners. I always like getting an enthusiastic "buenas tardes" when I walk into a place is a nice touch. I walked over to the kitchen to order something that sounded good, and since the sign outside read "El Rey de carnitas" (The king of carnitas), I had to get a carnitas burrito. I asked for no onions and cilantro, the guy taking my order asked if I would like salsa added to the burrito (yes!), and added lettuce, tomatoes and queso fresco at no extra cost. It. Was. AWESOME! I was a bit disappointed in the Tortillas, but that was my only complaint. And did I mention that the burrito only took 5 minutes to order and have in my hand? All around the place looks great and features a small produce section, tons of refreshments, as well as a great selection of meats in their butcher block. I highly recommend this place for anyone that loves or works in the area. read more

Horrible customer service. The gentlemen at meat department was mopping the floor & he was about to start assisting me without washing his hands & with the same gloves he was mopping with about the grab the beef meat I wanted to purchase. I had to tell him to please wash his hands and get a new pair of gloves before touching any of the meat. Disgusting read more

Overall, the food was fantastic and is the reason I continue to come back. The kitchen clearly knows what they're doing. However, the service could use some improvement, especially when it comes to attention to detail and handling issues when they arise.
