We decided to try another Mexican market that was a little closer to us. For being a smaller market it has a pretty good size meat Dept. We got some carne asada meat. Which turned out to be very tender and made delicious tacos. I also picked out some Mexican jelly filled pastry rolls sliced that were so soft and better than I imagined. Definitely need to try more of their pastries next time. The market is small and basic. No frills, but everyone was friendly and helpful. I also have to go back because they had a good selection of Mexican candy!!

3lbs of meat. Half fat. Not a bargain. No trimming of meat.

3 lbs of meat. Mostly fat. Prepackaged so you cannot check. Not a bargain. I expect to have a little fat but not more than half

Cool little spot that is a market and butcher but also sells tacos and Mexican pastries! Lots of great ingredients sold here as well. If you like your salsa HOT and authentic, they have a great variety. All fresh made and tasty! They are seriously so good albeit very spicy, so they are not for the faint of heart or those with a weak stomach. I love coming here for the fresh tortillas. They have fresh made corn tortillas that I have bought on more than one occasion while they were still warm. The flour tortillas are fantastic too. They are thin and a little translucent. You can literally warm them up and eat them with just butter. So. Darn.Good! They also sell tacos or cooked meat for tacos by the pound. I like the carnitas and chicharrones. I believe you can get a platter for 5.99 that has a few tacos. Ahhhhh before I forget, they also have Mexican doughnuts and some pastries. While they aren't my favorite in general, I do like them here. They are always fresh and not as sticky sweet as I find them at some other locations. Thy are worth checking out!

Great place to buy "carne assada". Its good to have easy access to traditional mexican food close by.

I'm gonna cover you in gucamole and pico de gallo salsa.

Amazing meat quality, seasoning is great. My first time here, I was looking for a Carniceria since I just moved from SoCal.

Pretty disappointed by these guys. Price gouging their water, during this time. Shame. $8+ per case.

Sausages, patties, chicken parts, and various other meats. The butchers are great. Very helpful and friendly. They always greet upon entering the store. The store is small and quaint to get what you need in a few twists and turns. Some other items sold there include syrup, milk, eggs, wine, baking mixes, cheeses, pickled veggies and so much more. All locally sourced. This is a carnivore's heaven.

When I came in they were having a sale on their frozen products which was great because their prices were insane. I then began to talk to the person behind the counter about bulk ordering (whole, 1/2, and 1/4 cows) and the custom cuts process, because they are a "whole animal butchery". I was handed a card for a website that delivers arizona grass fed beef. I've never been to a butcher that doesn't allow custom cuts or bulk orders. You might as well go to sprouts for the same service and save the money. I bought some meat since I made the drive and the meat is definitely high quality, but my butcher was selling grass fed grass finished beef for $3 less /lb. Not to mention I was able to get bulk and custom cuts for even cheaper. I'm so disappointed that my butcher is getting replaced by them.

**July 2026: Thursday Afternoon Visit**…read more My friend and I were visiting Phoenix during a 110-degree heat wave and desperately needed something to cool us down, so I went searching and came across Sphinx Date Co Palm & Pantry. The date milkshake sounded too good to pass up, so my friend and I made the drive out to Scottsdale for a little afternoon treat--and it was absolutely worth it. As soon as we walked in, the shop owner was incredibly warm and welcoming. She offered us a sample of a Medjool date, and wow--it was plump, rich, and had this deep caramel-like sweetness that instantly sold me. You can really taste the quality. We each ordered a large date milkshake, and it was everything I hoped for. It tasted clean and simple in the best way--like it's made with just dates, milk, and ice cream (which is typically what a classic date shake includes). It was creamy, naturally sweet, and super refreshing in the Arizona heat. I also loved that the store carries a variety of Arizona-made local products, which made souvenir shopping so easy. They had everything from BBQ sauce and hot sauce to wines and cactus candy. I ended up picking up a few sauces and some jumbo Medjool dates to bring home as gifts. The owner also shared that they carry different types of dates depending on the season. I'm already looking forward to coming back to try their Sphinx dates, which she described as having a thinner skin and a more honey-like flavor--apparently available in late summer. Overall, I really loved this shop, its mission, and the quality of its products. This is definitely a spot you'll want to bookmark for your next Phoenix trip.
