The market has been 5*s possibly four decades? Prior to being on McDowell they were located Granite Reef. Quality is the highest and then not as important lower cost than other purveyors. Totally consistent. I can't recall any other seller who has never had an off day. Other places have good policy but I have never needed to return at French's. The meat still is great when I feel the cooks prep was not what a felt it should be. My point is French's meat still was good even when the cook was not! read more

I try to support local small businesses as much as possible. At Superstition Ranch Market, Mesa I purchased the frozen 3-1 beef patties. I allow myself 1 burger quarterly because of my cholesterol, so if I'm gonna have one it's gonna be a good one! I sprinkled it with salt and black garlic seasoning. The perfect burger! I even ate a patty without bread to savor the genuine beef taste and it satisfied the taste and red meat craving my body wanted!! I can't wait to try the brats, pork chops, steaks, etc. so yes I will buy it again and then some!! read more

Watching an episode of Man vs Food, this BBQ Restaurant in FL had these smoked dino ribs. My inner cave woman immediately started drooling and i had to find where i could get these huge short (not really short..lol) ribs locally. A search on Yelp and few calls and i stumble across French's in Scottsdale. I call and they inform me they have the ribs but i have to buy it by the pack, which if i recall was 6 ribs total. I ask about the price, and it was really reasonable. Between the price and the distance to go get it (a 5-7 minute drive), it was a no brainer ordering from French's. Only extra was the cost to have break the ribs down. I'll pay the extra $1 a lb for that. I get there and they ask how i want the ribs cut. 3 long dino ribs, and then the other 3 cut in 3rds. The gal asks me if I want them vacuum sealed. Uhhh..YES PLEASE!! The price and customer service here can not be beat. And the ribs. we've already smoked 1 dino and used 1 small package for korean short ribs. The meat was super tender and flavorful. Why its taken us so long to order our meat from here is beyond us. This place is a real Scottsdale secret! They are not fancy. Just a place that I think distributes to mostly high end restaurants, but will sell to the public also. Great prices and awesome access to source to high quality meat. I bunch of unmarked trucks out front and you walk into a basically a meat cutting center with a counter. The guy who waited on me was very nice, knowledgeable and wanted to help me out even though I was not his biggest customer. I wanted half a tenderloin and he said if I could come back the next day he would save me the center from the cuttings. It was over 3 lbs of the best part for about $40! I will make 6 nice fillet mignon out of it.... I can't wait to go back and try some other cuts and see what else he can hook me up with. read more

Went here because they do a gourmet burger blend. I think it is 3 cuts of beef ground and blended together. I have heard all the fancy restaurants use this type of bend. Food Network talks about it also. I went in and everyone was so nice and was told they would do it fresh in the morning for me. Some items you have to place an order for. Went to pick up and it was ready and great customer service again. Cooked them and wow what a great burger. I am going to order more burgers and also some for chili. read more

I've had meat from the farm growing up, and I'm 56 years old. I found Frenches Meat Shoppe about a month ago, and their NY Strip steak is great, you can cut it with a butterknife. Their bone in pork chops are awesome, so is their hamburger and chicken. I'm from Minnesota, and so are the folks from Frenches. Their meat reminds me of the flavor and freshness of the farm fresh meat growing up there. I highly recommend it. I will never buy meat from a grocery store again. Frenches has my heart. I came here based on the yelp reviews alone and wasn't disappointed. If you want a nice looking place, don't come here. If you want a good deal on some good looking meat, look no further. They obviously sell big orders to restaurants, but were more than helpful to me after i walked in for a small order. I went in and asked if i could get some ribeye. The man working (possibly owner) brought me a frozen 10 pack of 8 ounce ribeyes and said they are $39.99. I asked if he had anything fresh and he looked to the back and informed me they were actually packaging some fresh one's right now and would have one made for me. Awesome steaks. Awesome experience. Came in Saturday morning and asked for 4 NY strips (Black Angus choice). The owner - wonderful friendly guy in business a long time - went in the cooler and brought out a large cut of meat and asked how thick I'd like them (1.5"). He had the 4 steaks cut and wrapped in a few minutes. I grilled them that night medium rare. I am EXTREMELY picky about the quality and taste of my steaks. These strips were as good as any I've had and better than 95% of the steaks I've grilled at home or had at steakhouses around the country. Based on this one experience I cannot recommend French's highly enough. (I'm from out of town visiting family.) read more

If you've eaten a hamburger that tasted like sawdust or a tasteless chicken breast at a local restaurant, it probably came from this place. Based on reviews here, I decided to try this shop since my favorite butcher pulled out of Scottsdale. I was looking for daily meal convenience and so bought the pre-formed hamburger patties and individually wrapped chicken breasts. Big mistake. The patties are very thin, produce an enormous amount of grease when cooked, and taste like--well, nothing. The chicken breasts, which are indeed individually wrapped in cling film, will leak all over your refrigerator as they defrost, are not well-trimmed, and are not at all flavorful. I'm chucking what's left of my order in the garbage. The gentleman who waited on me was very nice and perhaps I just bought the wrong things, but I won't be going back. You've been warned. read more

Was in Tempe for the ASU vs UofA Football Game (Go Sun Devils!) and saw French's across the street from Fry's Grocery Store. We always like to do business with locally owned companies. Got some hamburgers which you can a pack in 1/2, 1/3, or 1/4 lb patties for tailgating. Everybody said how good and fresh there where. Also bought some bacon. Also excellent. Highly recommend! Just wanted to update- I had said it was slightly pricey. I must have been smoking crack that day because I went there again today after going to Fry's and Safeway.
