To a balance out the fried, I ordered a mahi mahi seafood salad with mango dressing. This was the best salad I've had in a long time and just hit the spot. Place is cute and tucked away. This is the first time I'm visiting since the name change from Coconuts to Maui Fish house and I'm really disappointed. I'm mourning the loss of what used to be not only AZ's best fish tacos and freshest poke, but also their S tier fries. Reading some of the reviews I thought it was just a change in name only. Unfortunately the recipes and food quality has changed as well. When I first moved here from Hawaii, I was resigned to the fact the most restaurants in AZ just didn't have the capacity to serve seafood as great as the islands. That was until I visited Coconuts at the old FLW and Scottsdale location. I continued to eat there as well as their new Shea location and also the location on Mayo, always eating consistently great fish tacos and poke. I would bring friends and family there who also enjoyed the fresh ingredients that reminded them of home. Surprisingly the fries on the side were also a standout but now the recipe changed and now taste just like every other takeout restaurant which is a shame. I know a lot of Hawaiian restaurants with fish tacos and poke have opened up in the area in the last few years, but Coconuts was always my go to for fresh fish and tacos and even their fries. I can't say the same about Maui fish tacos and will have to find somewhere else. On the plus side, the servers were excellent and friendly and they rightfully deserve some praise. read more

I couldn't decide between a few flavors to add, but with the team member's help, I ended up with a delicious choice! Grilled Mahi with butter salt and pepper and the Asian flair sauce in the side. It came on a bed of brown rice with coleslaw. It truly was so tasty. If I wasn't needing to head back on the road, I may have tried their Pina colada too! I went to the Shea location, but they are also located at Mayo. This is a nice quick service option for a healthy meal. read more

Maui Fish House sells fish tacos, fish platters, poke bowls, and chips. Their main seafood offerings are shrimp, calamari, ahi, mahi mahi, and ono. If that's not to your liking, a select few of their dishes revolve around chicken and steak. I tried out an ahi ahi grilled fish platter and upgraded my sides to included steam veggies which cost $20.99. There's 6 different type of styles you can have and the customer service was great as they explained to me that 4 of them are dry rubs and 2 are sauces so I went with the Asian flair sauce on the side. You can choose medium or seared and I went with the latter. I thought that the ahi tasted nice enough and I was glad I chose seared over medium. The Asian flair sauce was average and the steamed vegetables were quite good. The odd thing about this place is that it doesn't have the stereotypical items you would expect in a Hawaii-style restaurant such as spam musubi and kalua pork dishes. read more

You get 2 huge tacos. The taco is flour but has a nice charred crisp to the outside. Has a delicious mango/cabbage topping My husband got the fish and chips. The fish nicely crisp and not greasy. Asking questions of the clerk was like pulling teeth proverbly. Offered no additional information and when asked a simple question like what kind of wine is it he had to go over and look and somebody else actually ended up answering our questions. First time trying Coconut's after hearing great things about it from family and other reviews. I have to say I was disappointed with my experience. The food was just okay. I got the "Local Style Over Rice". The rice was slightly undercooked, the slaw was bland, and the tomato slice with the shredded cheese on top just didn't do it for me. I ordered the Ono fish but they gave me Mahi Mahi, and I went for the Cajun seasoning but didn't taste much seasoning. The fish was cooked alright but was a little dry.
