I did score my cucumber, some tangerines and several boxes of Mexican cookies (my favorites). What a great addition to the neighborhood. You need to bone up on your Spanish, as most of the signs inside are in Spanish. Inside the front door were packs of dried fish and a table with specialty breads. I was looking for dried chili papers to make mole sauce. They had a great selection reasonably priced starting at $1.99 a bag. I easily found what I needed. They also had a large selection of reasonably priced spiced. The aisles were packed with specialty beans, rice and other dry goods. The meat counter looked fantastic with lots of fresh beef, pork and chicken. They had an assortment of sausages and dried meats as well. Again priced were reasonable. I picked up a large package of corn tortillas as well. The produce in the produce section was not at its optimal freshness but priced were reasonable. I picked up a couple lines at 4/$1. There were displays of Interesting Mexican candies that looked fun. There was only only one check out clerk and she was a little slow but friendly.

I rarely see apple bananas on the mainland, so grabbed a bunch. At $1.99, they were a good deal. I also picked up cornmeal for fresh cornbread. The El Milagro corn tortillas are my favorite, they were soft, aromatic and fresh. The Taqueria was not ready to serve even though the hours were technically opened. I'll return to check out the tacos and tamales. For now, I left a happy camper with a few staples for my Latin meal prep.

I lived most of my life with access to a wide spectrum of options, from super-authentic to super-refined, to super Tex-Mex. Mexican food, when made properly, is amazeballs. Here's the thing: There is very little Mexican food that I would even call decent in the Greater Indianapolis Area, especially on the Northeast side. Sorry, lots of places, but you ain't got it. This place is bomb. It reminds me of some of my favorite taco places in SoCal. Not necessarily the most authentic, but delicious and very reminiscent of home for me. The al pastor was a little sweet and tangy. The carnitas was of the style with the pieces of fat in there to make the mouthfeel just fantastic.
