After spending the day at the 100-Mile Long Yard Sale, we stopped by Alehouse for an early dinner. We were seated right away, and our server, David, was amazing. He was attentive, friendly, and very accommodating throughout our visit. We didn't have to wait long for our food to arrive. I ordered the Mediterranean Street Bowl, and it was delicious. The chicken shawarma was flavorful, tender, and not dry at all. My only suggestion would be to add a few more vegetables and a little less rice. My husband ordered the Grilled Chicken Cobb Salad, and the flavors were incredible. The combination of savory ingredients, creamy avocado, and fresh greens was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was lively and enjoyable, especially with the FIFA match on TV. We even caught the exciting end of the USA vs. Australia game. Stopped here to pick up a call in order. The order was ready when I arrived. Somebody saw me when I arrived, asked me if i was there to pick up an order, and I said it was. They saw my order, the only one sitting there, looked at it, then said they needed to get somebody else. So I waited a couple of minutes for them to get somebody to total me out. I will make this shorter than my reviews on TripAdvisor and Google reviews...I ate at the bar as a single individual for dinner on June 27th, 2026. To get to the point, treat everyone at the bar the same. Ask all of your customers how their food is while they eat. Everyone around me got asked as they ate their meals, but not a word was spoken to me, asking how my meal was. Not even when they collected my plate after I was finished eating. I am a big tipper, but when I get less service than the people around me, it will reflect in my tip. I gave $30 for a $26 bill; they are lucky they got anything for the lack of service. Just dropping food off or refilling my drink is not the end of service. Ask me how everything is, do I need anything...that is not rocket science when you are in the people business. Tips are based on service. Service lacking means you get LESS MONEY. You take a pay cut. I tried so hard to like Carolina Ale House in Garner. They made that impossible, 3 visits in a row. Typical Sports Bar Atmosphere but not over crowded so could carry on a conversation. Our Server Precious W., she was good but after meal was served Mia. We ordered the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich was okay & fries, The fried Chicken Salad had nice pieces of chicken, plenty of dressing & very good large portion. I had the Pub Burger, cooked medium, very tasty, nice big burger served with fries. She had the Grilled Cobb Chicken Salad - again very tasty and the serving was too big to finish. Service: kinda slow, was weird bc the restaurant was quite empty and the server didn't seems to have anyone in her section. Ran and I are singing the same tune about this place. Hard pass, folks! I've never encountered such abysmal service with a staff that couldn't care less. Our misadventure began after swinging by Cabelas for some Santa photos, only to find a 30-minute wait at Longhorn Steakhouse next door. Cue Carolina Ale House as our alternative. Upon entering, the front counter was a ghost town. We stood there, waiting like lost souls until a young lady meandered past, completely ignoring us. I half expected her to moonwalk away. Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, she acknowledged us, bringing her own version of Ben Stein to the scene. She reluctantly grabbed menus and wandered off, leaving us to tag along hesitantly. She warned us of their "slowness" in a practically empty place, which was puzzling. The waiter was equally lackadaisical, taking ages for our drinks and reiterating the impending food delays. And oh, the background noise--TV volume cranked up obnoxiously high, making conversation a lost cause, even with the person directly at my side. After about 30 minutes, a text from Longhorn beckoned, but, armed with drinks and a glimmer of hope, we stayed put. Spoiler alert: worst mistake! The orders took ages, and meanwhile, a posh guy strutted around in circles like he was the star of a one-man show; never once stopping to inquire about our experience. He carried himself with the vibe of a fresh-faced manager, all pretense and no substance--a lot of swagger but sorely lacking in any real skill set worth a dime. When the food finally graced our table after an eternal wait, the disappointment hit hard. The BBQ burger looked like a kid's meal - the burger was the size of the one my kid ordered and 9 fries were plated. Nine! My platter seemed like it had been dipped in ancient grease, and the pizza felt like a failed experiment from an easy bake oven. I had hoped the food might save the day, but alas, it was as deflating as the ambiance. My wish? Let this place pave the way for someone who knows how to run a joint. I am not even sure what to say - I am truly speechless as everyone that was in our party yesterday has been sick since we eat here. Today, my husband and I visited the Carolina Ale House in Garner we had been here previously. We had the pleasure of being waited on by Maranda. She was amazing from "hello, my name is". Maranda shared it was her 3rd day working there, by the time we left we asked for the manager, she has a wonderful personality and was already knowledgeable of their menu and drink menu which helped out a lot since I was so undecided on what I wanted to order. I see the appeal for people who want to sit and drink beer and eat awful bar food. I ordered the grilled tenders and they were almost inedible, the tendons/fat, I barely ate 20%. Their sauce was a Buffalo flavor, not true Buffalo. We also ordered spinach dip, it wasn't terrible. The fries have an extra coating on them that makes them worse than most fries at restaurants. It's a bar scene, I believe there was pool tables and a large bar area, lighting was okay. My husband and I were disappointed in the fish and chips at this specific location of the restaurant chain. We've ordered fish and chips at a number of other locations in North and South Carolina and have always had a consistently tasty, crispy meal. But here, the fish was soggy and the fries weren't worth eating. Our standard arrangement is that we sit at the bar and share a dinner. The bartender did bring a second plate which was appreciated. The bartender works not only the bar, but the tables surrounding the bar which makes it hard to get her attention. I gave up and searched the restaurant myself for the malt vinegar. Asking for the check was time consuming as well. With other options for fish and chips in Wimington this restaurant isn't worth much more than a quick beer at the bar. And if you decide on that, ask for your bill when ordering it. read more

I've liked this place in the past, but today was just poor. Two of us went in for a quick lunch between meetings - that was two hours ago. We had two lunch specials - a meatball sandwich and a Caesar salad, figuring that should be quick. At 45 minutes after we'd ordered, I complained to the waitress, asking also if I could get my soda (which by then had been empty half an hour) refilled? She brought a soda a few minutes later, apologizing, but it'd be well over an hour from ordering before we got our obviously hastily thrown together sandwich and salad. I had to go ask another server to please find our waitress again to get a bill after we'd quickly finished our meals to get back to work. I would recommend locking the doors if you decide to close earlier than the hours of operation listed on google/yelp/Facebook/the front door, to avoid confusion. As a bartender that's the first thing I do. To customers, being turned away from an unlocked "open" bar before listed hours, comes across as simply not wanting to have to deal with customers because it was a slow night and you wanna leave early and already started closing up. This review is solely targeted towards whoever's job it is to make it clear to people when they can be served. If you say you're open til 2am every day of the week and 3 patrons, two of which are bartenders and understand the feeling of wanting to go home at the end of the night happen to come in looking for a simple round of beers and shots at the night before expected last call is just a bad look on the place as a whole. If you aren't open, lock the doors and don't show incorrect hours and leave potential customers open to confusion/wasted time or snide comments as they leave the building. read more

This place is a hard NO. I travel all over the place. Even on a weekly basis, one may find me in the states in L.A., Dallas, Birmingham, NYC, DC, Bmore, Wilmington, Fayetteville, etc. I understand how things may be slow, supply chains fractured, service staff shorted, and all that. When I watch tables around me being bussed, parties of two and four who came in AFTER us being seated and served, and people who had been standing behind us (two people in our party -- including myself) being given takeaway boxes because they have finished their meals when we are still being told for the second time that our burger and salmon dishes are "just now being plated, then I'm done. We waited for over an hour despite countless requests for our simple entrees. During that time, we sat. And sat. AND SAT. And we sat there in the middle of Carolina Ale House watching the backline serve everyone else, watching Mark (or Mike) the manager ignore us, watching everyone around us get served their food. After 75 minutes (yes, an hour and 15 minutes after we had placed our orders for a burger and salmon dish), we decided we had had enough. That was when a server suddenly appeared with our entrees. He had not been told we were leaving, and he walked away. That was when the person we had told we were leaving approached and said she'd have him bring it back. She tried to explain the problem, and meanwhile, our entrees were thrown out. Meanwhile, Mark (or Mike; he was the middle-aged Caucasian guy in glasses), took my bill, looked at it -- and then walked away to the kitchen without a word. Had I been alone, I would have not paid and walked out. The WORST service, the non-existent food, and the absolute lack of competence makes this place one to absolutely avoid. To prove it, there's a Longhorn Steakhouse next door that practically shares a parking lot. That parking lot was full, and there was a line outside. Not so at Carolina Ale House which was practically deserted for a damn good reason: this place sucks. Food 2 Parking 5 Wait staff 2 My family and I got together to eat for a family gathering. We ordered appetizers and drinks, later the lady came back brought the drinks said she would come back. We played games over and looked for the appetizers, The table close by got there appetizers they came and sat after us larger party. The waitress did not offer fresh drinks, brought back watered down versions of the drinks my kids asked for. So our appetizer's came out with the rest of the food, which was cold when it came to the table. The nachos were mushy and the shrimp appetizer was laying on top of lettuce that was now cooked on the bottom. I won't be going back but if you like mushy nachos, cold food and a waitstaff that will do anything they can to avoid you. The seating outside has some lovely doors that allow for a nice breeze. This is my experience not yours so maybe you will have hot food that comes on time and drinks that don't look like they poured out an old drink from a previous customer. Enjoy! read more

I'm going to agree with Cole. I was here with two colleagues for dinner and beers and we all had a pleasant time. Wifi worked well for our working session and the beers were good. Chips with dips and chicken wings to start. A big plate of chips with guacamole, salsa and pimento cheese went down nicely and the leftover cheese went onto my burger. The wings were grilled, flavorful and the hot actually tasted good. For main, I chose the pimento and bacon burger. The bacon was perfect and the cheese was excellent. Only complaint was that the burger was overdone, medium-well and not medium-rare. This seems to be happening a lot lately. Skipping the fries on the side, I had coleslaw that was good. A little wet but still crunchy with celery seeds that kept on giving throughout the night. Special on Coors Light (which is low carb!) pints and pitchers was great. Service was good and I am a fan. I used to love me some honey buffalo wings from this spot, now I feel insulted. It may have been the chef at that point and time but it was also due to cutting corners on product. The wings have become feeble and lacking. They used to give hearty wings with meat and sauce that made me enjoy a moment of eating and relaxing, not so much these days. The menu is overpriced and the staff could care less if you were there. Same with the Fayetteville location..do better and we will return! read more

Service is great, but it was especially great with Grady as our server today. We were seated right away which should have been a heads up. The server was probably the worst server I have encountered. It took forever to get our order placed when we had to flag down our server and when we did get our drinks the beer was warm. We are still waiting for that refill. The food was okay. Nothing special, just greasy bar food. On top of that, there is this stupid telephone booth in the middle of the walkway and if you sit at the table next to it, people are squeezing by to get to their tables. The only redeeming trait was one very nice server (his name was D) that helped us by getting a box because when we asked our server, she never came back. We used the Garner location for our Women's Brunch of 30 attendees. Although they do not take reservations, I did let the manager, Kenny know in advance that we would be coming on Saturday. He was very nice, professional and said he could work it out and he did! Everyone was extremely pleased with the venue, atmosphere, service and food! The two servers were accommodating, personable and professional. They worked with us as we conducted our activities and separate checks. The food arrived to the tables hot and fresh. I had the salmon salad and it was plentiful and delicious. I've had it twice this week! That covered patio is really comfortable on a spring morning with the windows open.
