Let's be honest - the 1 Star is only because it is the minimum you can score here. We called ahead since we were a larger group (10) and were told the current wait for our size was 45-60 minutes so we headed that way. 10 mins later when we arrived and checked in we were told 60-75 minutes - we gave our cell number and proceeded to wait. 50 minutes later, after seeing most of the crowd being seated we simply asked where we were on the list and were RUDELY told the time we checking in and it's only been 50 minutes. On two more occasions we questioned what the wait was since we seemed to be to only ones waiting and were TALKED DOWN AT both times. Finally, on the 4th time asking we were told that - OUR PARTY HAD ALREADY BEEN SEATED. We were all stunned since the number we gave NEVER was notified. Again the hostess staff was RUDE, SHORT, and VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. At this point we have now been waiting for a table for over 2 hours and as you can imagine our patience has worn pretty thin. All but 1 of the party left to the parking lot and my wife asked to see the manager. This proved to be pointless as they all insisted we have already been seated but they could get us a table if we were interested. We eat out a lot. This has to have been the worst example of customer service I have ever experienced. Yes, they were busy, yes we were a larger group. BUT - own up to your mistakes and do not be RUDE to your customers. I enjoy eating at Carolina Ale House. I can tell you this is the last time I will step into the business. Now, I've always been told to end everything on a good note - I did get a chance to walk through Cabela's and take advantage of some killer deals and right next door at Longhorn Steakhouse they got a kick out of hearing our horrible experience and were very helpful and got us in under 10 minutes and had a great steak so I recommend y'all go there instead of Carolina Ale House read more

Service and wait time was terrible waited 45 mins to be sat with and empty restaurant and when looking to see where we were on list our name had been taken off, then when we got sat waited another 10 mins to even get drinks, then wait another 45 mins to even get our food, I do not recommend then place to anybody read more

What a beautiful place. I came here with my Dad, stepmother, and brother. Great food. Excellent staff. It feels like a home style feeling. The menu is easy to read. It's a very popular place, so get there early. I can't wait to come back. I'll definitely come back. read more

This is the second time we've been disappointed in this location, I ordered a crispy chicken salad - they gave me grilled.... It had already taken a long time to get our food so I just said okay I'll eat it- the chicken was burned, dry and tasted like it had been sitting out forever. Update: originally I left this a four star but I was in the other day and it was fairly empty in the bar area. You can see because it's open on outside. In any event, the hostesses, 2 of them were some of the most obnoxious childish spoiled acting people I have met in what is supposed to be a professional way in a long time. It's a decent place to talk/vibe. The menu options are okay I am vegetarian I got the meatless buffalo chicken wrap. Hmm it was questionable maybe because I'm not a fan of gardein brand needless to say I didn't finish it but I did enjoy the fries! My only suggestion is to get another brand of meatless options and the pour for my drink was short. Otherwise I had a good time. I was visiting Raleigh so I may not be back anytime soon. I am typically a fan of Carolina Ale House. I decided to try the Garner location. For starters, we ordered the bacon and cheese fries. Essentially it is a bowl of fries with bacon added and cheese just draped over. There is no effort to bake the two in tandem properly. We turned our attention to the steaks served with vegetables. I am unsure how steamed vegetables managed to become rubberized, but this particular Ale House made what was supposed to be a fresh vegetable side, the worst in a long time. As for the steaks, it was very dry but piled with butter which somewhat saved it from being sent back. However, when we did try to send back the steaks we were told they were out of steaks. (hmm). Overall, pleasant wait staff (she empathized with us because she seemed just as frustrated with management and kitchen staff that afternoon). When the food came, I asked politely for ranch and wasn't acknowledged, so i asked again and the runner this time said I HEARD YOU ( a simple head nod or sure would do). We went to the bar to get another drink and when he finally came around he gave me attitude and said "you have to order that through me bc you have a tab through me" when exactly would I get that drink sir? If the server was overloaded, there were plenty of other employees meandering around that could have checked on his tables. Disappointing the food was cold the loaded mashed potatoes was cold.... the cheese was sitting on top. Nasty... green beans cold straight from the freezer. I'm rather surprised by the low rating here. The Ale house similar to Kickback Jack's nearby is a great place to grab food and drink. It's not overly pricey and it's a great spot for both family and friends to get a treat at. I HIGHLY ENCOURAGE you get their Nachos, which are worth the visit alone. read more

We had originally plan on going to the Longhorn, but due to the wait we opted for the Ale House. Big Mistake. First the wait for the food was ridiculous. After waiting for 30 minutes for our food we had to send 3 of the dishes back. And had to wait and addition 20 minutes for the replacement food. And then we find a hair in the sauce. This place has tasty food at a good price and I am a regular ordering from this location HOWEVER lately they have been 0% at following my special instructions which has ended up ruining my meal!!! Today chicken taco salad was missing the sour creme and ranch dressing leaving it dry. The shell was fried with WAY too many air bubbles that made it soggy instead of crispy upon arrival to my house. Utensils and napkins always ordered and NEVER received. Tried the wings today and the meat was dry and the honey buffalo sauce had a nasty taste. Been there many times with my husband. This was the worst experience ever. My husband's favorite has always been their fish and chips, not anymore. He couldn't even eat it and the fries well lets just say the grease had to be old. My stomach is still turning and not in a good way. First time checking out this location. It was packed on a Monday night, they don't take reservations, so we had a bit of a wait. When we sat down, even though we said for 4, we only got 2 menus and silverware. Waitress asked us what we wanted to drink and I mentioned that we had 2 more coming. After another 10 min, she came back with no new menus or our drinks, but we told her we were all ready to order (again). Food took quite a long time, we all got burgers and shrimp tacos. Unfortunately for me, about halfway through my taco which had been tasty, I noticed a long hair and lost my appetite. My friend asked for no fried onions on their burger and these were crammed all on top in the cheese and sauce and were hard for him to pull off. The server never came and asked if everything was okay. There were lots of TVs, so it would probably be good to watch games here. I wish I had come to Yelp before placing an order via uber to deliver dinner, now i know. There is a Carolina Ale house in Clayton that always seems to be packed, so thought ok, will order from there, however the Clayton location was not noted, so since I live in Clayton via my delivery address I thought it had to be this one. I had never had their food before neither had my husband. So we placed the order, Noted that it would be 45 or 55 minutes, so I thought ok they must be slammed for the long wait, but later found out it was the GARNER location.. SO my husband ordered a seafood platter with shrimp & fries and was supposed to come with Cole slaw...they forgot the coleslaw. I ordered Caeser salad, that was expensive for the shipping box of cut up Romaine lettuce with no croutons, I could have purchased fresh lettuce for less than 50`60 percent of the cost of this lackluster salad. There was also cheese curds, fried that were maybe an inch by an inch each and were almost completely hard as little rocks. A chicken burrito that was the WORST I had ever eaten. thick and like sludge. This whole mess cost us with tip for the driver and delivery $82 and change..what a big MISTAKE..I will never recommend this place to anyone, I would not let a dog eat this stuff they are trying to pass as Pub food. So disappointing, will not make the same mistake..and will not risk paying a small fortune that we could have gone to a steak house and got a better and decent meal instead of this mess. The food is great (for this type of place) every time I go. Never have too long of a wait for it either. Depending on the sports schedule you can expect to have to wait for a table (particularly in the bar section). However sometimes it doesn't take as long as they tell you. Our first time here. Waitress was nice enough. Ordered the hand breaded chicken tenders. Asked for light breading, she said no problem. Also asked for a side of broccoli. Broccoli was swimming in water, yuck. The tenders were cold. I told the waitress who talked to the manager. Instead of the manager coming to speak with us, she stated via the waitress that the tenders were made fresh but the sauces made them cold. WTF. What a lie, and what a crappy manager for not handling a complaint personally. It is very obvious why this place has bad reviews.
