Always packed on Friday nights. Local favorite. Food and service is great. Children love to walk the catwalks and see the animals.

They were very busy in a Friday night but we were sat immediately. I ordered the kids chicken tenders for my son and the Endless Shrimp with a Strawberry Margarita. The got those cheesy, buttery baked biscuits to start and our drinks came slightly after. Now, I placed my son's order with our drinks, if you have kids, you know. They took his order to the wrong table and they had to remake it. We didn't get his order until my third order of shrimp came out. He happily ate 3 biscuits but we wasted our money on his meal because he hardly touched it by the time it reached the table. For endless shrimp, you can pick from five selections (fried shrimp, shrimp scampi, marry me shrimp, coconut shrimp and shrimp linguine Alfredo) and one side. I started with the scampi, fried and marry me options with a loaded baked potato. I was not a huge fan of the marry me shrimp, the sauce was breaking down and there were too many breadcrumbs so I stuck to the scampi and fried shrimp. Was able to order about 4 more rounds of shrimp, limit two varieties per reorder, and had more than my share of shrimp scampi.

I'd also been hearing about the crab legs, so I had to stop by during Lobsterfest and ordered the Mariner's Seafood Boil and I'm so glad I did. Everything was flavorful, fresh, and worth the visit. A special shoutout to our waitress, Raquel -- she was amazing. Super attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience even better. The manager on staff (Friday 4/17/26) also came by to check in and made sure everything was top tier, which I really appreciated. I'm already planning another visit because I'm still thinking about how great everything was. Definitely a spot I'll be coming back to!

The waitress was wonderful, and took good care of our table by making sure our coffees were always full. The inside of the restaurant is consistent with other Waffle Houses, so it is cold and had mildly dated pictures on the wall. The bathroom had a leaky toilet, but luckily it was the fresh water valve, so not the complete end of the world. Although my little still managed to get their clothes wet from it, which was not the best thing. I'm amazed at the price of an All Star Special, and the fact that it no longer includes coffee. But that's what always get, so that's what I got for Mother's Day. They were about to clean the griddle, but we were able to get our order in before this happened, so we didn't have to wait for that process to occur before getting our meal. It was one of the best waffles I've had at a Waffle House, and my littles did a good job of behaving, so it was a wonderful trip.

After being here for 2 years, I moved from liberty, North Carolina to solar city and I finally for the 1st day ever stop by 2 get breakfast, I walked in. The waitress with black hair was very rude. She just asks me. Do you know you what you wanna order? And I said, good morning, then she mumbles, good morning, not even looking up at me and then asks me, do you know what you want to order? I then said no I do not and she gave me a menu when she gave me that menu. In such a very rude manner. I just got up and walked off.I will never ever return there again.

The original Smithfield's was opened in Smithfield in 1977, with the Clayton operation beginning in 1979. Since then the restaurant has greatly expanded across the state, now totaling 41, with the 2 furtherest west being in Greensboro and Charlotte. Over the years, I've eaten at perhaps half of the Smithfield locations, and have rarely been disappointed, and in the few where I was, it centered on the service, not the food. As with so much in the restaurant area, things have changed and will surely continue to change with pork barbecue in North Carolina, reflecting changing tastes and changing processes. For example, fewer and fewer cooked over hardwood coals, and very few cook the whole hog - in fact, I think there are only 4 (all in the east) that still do - Skylight Inn, B's, Grady's, and The Pit. Smithfield very much mirrors the changing nature of NC BBQ over the last 30 years or so. The pork bbq for ALL locations is cooked in Smithfield and then shipped to the various locations. Obviously, what you get is less than just off the rack fresh. Still, if I'm close, then a pop in for a combo of bbq and chicken works. I like their slaw. the hush puppies are fair at best, the hot dog totally sucks, and the Chicken Tender Sandwich is really, really good! Don't consider this a destination bbq spot, but I will still go from time to time if driving by. There is some bad bbq sold in NC, but it is most often found at a grocery store or a convenience store - if it has gas pumps keep moving!

It's like the proto-Cracker Barrel, with a gift store and either a cafeteria dining room or the steakhouse dining room. I ordered the Cowboy ribeye, which did not really seem to have the filet part, it seemed more like a bone-in strip. It seemed like a lot of gristle to me, but like I say, Monday in the area is slim pickings for steak. Hostess and waitress were very nice, and they bring an extra glass of soda without ice so you don't have to wait on a refill, which I liked, and offered to give a to go soda for the road. Sides were good, typical southern veggies, I think they could use more seasoning, especially some bacon! I would definitely stop in again and hop to stop in and let my wife and daughter experience the place.

You're a steakhouse? WTH? You should think about it so people can be numbed before they taste this food. You really shouldn't be called a steakhouse because you certainly are not.
