This is a go to place for a beer and an app when you are out walking in the neighborhood. This is the place you go when you don't feel like cooking and just want a good meal. I'm not sure what some people are expecting, but if you want some tasty food at a reasonable price, this is a great place to go. All of the folks that I've met at DB have been incredibly nice. This is the most perfectly mediocre neighborhood watering hole. I'm tempted to give it one extra star because it so perfectly inhabits that local-joint slacker vibe, but I want to stay true to the mediocrity so no extra credit. They hit the mark every time - no greeting when you walk in for two minutes, super slow service, food entirely hit or miss depending on the day, usually dirty tables, stale cheeseburger buns (but only the bottom half!). But the servers are usually nice and it's an awesome people and dog watching patio, so I return more often than I should. I've been here at least 10 times and felt very 'meh' about it each time, but in an age of corporate monoculture and chains galore it's nice to see this slightly dilapidated neighborhood gathering spot succeeding. read more

Philly cheesesteak could've had more flavor, more mushrooms / peppers / onions - and more meat too. Pretty good for what it is, got it without mayo. You have the chance to keep your conversation while at the same time feeling like your involved in everything going on around you. The food is excellent. Pretty mid place - I've taken out from here twice: first time I got the chicken burrito; this time I got the chicken sliders. I will say the sliders were pretty tasty but the portion is far smaller than the burrito (the burrito is massive btw), even though the sliders are $1 more than the burrito. It's still pretty cost effective though since both items come with a side. I usually get tots since not many places offer that as a side and I love tots, but again, pretty mid tots - they're usually a bit overfried. The prices are so good at Dakota Blue, I strongly suspect they may own the building. Five stars because of the excellent value here. DB is in the northwest corner of Grant Park, in a building that looks a lot like an old-timey Masonic lodge. It's across the street from Grant Central Pizza, with maybe four or five outdoor tables and a decent size dining room away from the bar. We sat outside and ordered up some bar food. There's a little southwestiness to the menu, with a quesadilla here, a burrito there. I got the fish tacos, which came out on corn tortillas, topped with a cabbage slaw that smelled faintly of sesame oil. Kids got grilled cheese. So, the fish tacos were really something. They were a little crispy and the slaw provided just enough crunch. I've had fish tacos before where the coarseness of the slaw is not managed properly. Not here! Added some hot sauce between bites and enjoyed it all thoroughly. Will order these tacos again. We were in town and went last Saturday and sat outside. The staff were prompt and helpful with recommendations. The owner was there and was sweet and funny! The food was chef's kiss....SO good! I arrived at 8:36pm and was told that it would be another 10 minutes, the kitchen was backed up, even though the place was not busy at all at this time of night. A couple times I was told by employees that they are working on your order. At 8:57 I inquired again on what was going on and was told my order was not ready but could not be given a time on when it would be ready. I asked for my money to be refunded and I did not want the food which the refund was promptly completed. I have no idea why 30 minutes after my order was promised, it still was not ready. We stopped in on a quiet, Sunday morning for brunch and found one of their sidewalk tables the perfect setting for conversation and people-watching. After a great margarita, we settled in to our entrees. She went with the Dallas Cowboy- a huge egg and vegetarian sausage breakfast burrito- whereas I had the veggie burrito, chockful of delicious and fresh produce. They have beer specials everyday and had 4$ margaritas which were perfect for a soothing Atl spring evening. Port tots were great, very cheesy. WE FOUND THIS GEM NESTLED IN THE GRANT PARK COMMUNITY. What attracted me to this restaurant in the first place was the nice outdoor patio seating area underneath the trees. SLING made sure we had a wonderful time for lunch today. We informed her that it was our first time here and she took it from their. She narrowed down what we had a taste for and we came up with the perfect selections. Thanks SLING. I ordered a grilled cheese, not just any Ole kiddie grilled cheese sandwich. An adult mature version with monterey jack, cheddar cheese and wait for it blue cheese crumbles melted on challah bread making it the perfect combination. I also added tomatoe and bacon for an extra $1.50. Without SLING'S recommending it I never would have known how delicious this grilled cheese was. My lunch companion had a burger which was delicious as well. The inside of Dakota Blue was nice as well, I walked through there going to the bathroom which is men and women combined and very clean. On the way back to my table outside on the patio I saw grilled cheese sandwiches being enjoyed all over the place, I see why its a hit. I totally enjoyed the service and the food. This is going to be my new go to spot. I can't wait to bring my out of town guest here. read more

First time here, Googled food near Zoo Atlanta. Menu online seemed decent, was planning on the Death Tots with brisket. Tough to find parking, but not their fault. Single page double sided paper menu bears some similarity to online menu, but no tots mentioned. Ordered death hash, which mentioned pork instead of brisket over hash browns, but whatever. Order arrives, it's not pork, it's brisket (what I actually wanted), it's not hash browns, it's home fries (which I prefer) It was delicious, but not what the menu describes. The rest of my table was not as happy with their food. Fried chicken biscuits with gravy is neither biscuits and gravy nor anything you can picture from the menu description. The menu is terrible at describing what they may actually serve you, ask your server for details. This is one of my go-to spots in Grant Park. It's small and parking is all in the street but it's a great place to relax, eat good bar food, and people-watch. Some of my favorite food items: - chips & cheese (I like to order with pita bread for extra carb-y goodness) - chicken salad melt - mixed greens salad, add walnuts My wife is a vegetarian and she LOVES the following: - black bean cuban - tofu tacos - black bean veggie burger I love the rotating craft cider options they have, especially when a can of rose cider is on the menu! There's always a great selection even if it's not the same every time we visit. Sure we've had a few hiccups with our orders in the past but that's probably due to laws of probability - we eat here frequently, every now and then they forget to do a modification. The important thing is that we have a great experience every time we visit & they're quick to correct an error, should one happen. The staff great, and the vibes are very casual. First, let me reveal my bias. This is one of those reviews that is tainted with nostalgia. When I returned to Atlanta from Houston in 2005, I was thrilled to move to the Grant Park neighborhood. I visited this restaurant multiple times a week. It became one of my favorite spots to hang out in the city. First, they offer a great brunch. The Baby Daddy Skillet is tops. It wasn't even on the menu when I started ordering it - it was a special that quickly became a crowd favorite. The egg wraps are fantastic, too. They have a number of benedict offerings, and those have never disappointed either. They rarely have a wait, have outdoor seating, and offer a great spot to have a lingering brunch with friends. Lunch and dinner have great offerings, too. The fish tacos are my favorites - fantastic option. They also have great burritos and burgers. I'm not sure if nacho tots are still on the menu (or honestly, if they ever were), but those are fantastic, too. Again, there is rarely a wait, and it is a great spot to have a slow dinner to catch up with friends. Over the years, the faces that work there have become friends. The staff is friendly and accommodating. It's a fun place to run into and catch up with neighbors. Now that we have moved north, we have yet to find the place that serves the role that Dakota Blue did in our lives. We miss the relaxed and comfortable neighborhood spot that we had in Grant Park. Dakota Blue has a lot of reviews so I'll be brief. Beer selection is not large. They did have a couple I liked so no worries. I like the menu - plenty for me and my vegetarian wife to choose from. - Chicken burrito: Not huge but enough for a meal. Very tasty. - Chips n cheese: Wonderful, and you get a ton of chips, which are super fresh-tasting. I think I'm going to order this every time I come here. - Tofu tacos: not my style but that vegetarian I mentioned liked them. - Hot sauces: they have them, ask. Service at the bar - outstanding. Dakota Blue is not a large restaurant and if you like sitting at the bar, well, that's even smaller with only room for five or six people.
