Like many others have shared, our experience with the medical staff at this surgical center on the day of my daughter's tonsillectomy was excellent. The nurses and doctors were kind, professional, and made her feel safe and comfortable -- and for that, we're truly grateful. However, the billing and administrative side was an entirely different story. Be warned: keep close tabs on your billing. We received one bill, and less than 24 hours later, a second bill was sent -- with over $1,000 added to the total. Both bills listed the same surgical date and procedure. When we called for clarification, we were met with rudeness and a complete lack of accountability. We were told it wasn't their fault, but rather due to our deductible not being updated in their system yet. Even though it was clearly a mistake on their end, they were quick to deflect responsibility and insisted they had provided a "sufficient" notice of the price change -- despite the fact that the two statements were less than a day apart. Bottom line: while the medical care was top-notch, the billing department is disorganized and unprofessional, and the overall experience was tainted by how poorly this was handled. Great care from Check in to vitals to RNs Anesthesia Dr and my surgeon Centers very clean and all were friendly

Staff the day of surgery was great! But before and after is another story. I was required to pay an estimated coinsurance amount upfront for my surgery. I was informed 3 days before my surgery tjat I had to pay over $800 or my surgery would be cancelled. They claim my insurance company said they had to collect coinsurance upfront. That was a lie. An insurance company does not require you to pay upfront. Anyhow, I needed the surgery so I paid. Had the surgery and my insurance was billed. Turns out my coinsurance was $600 not over $800. I have called the office to inquire about status of refund for overpayment with no response. My surgery was over a month ago. They were quick to take my money but not so quick to return what they owe me. Keep all this in mind when deciding whether or not to go here. read more

We came to this facility to have my son's tubes put in by Dr. Steve Parry. Obviously, any time your kid has to have any kind of surgery you're pretty freaked out. However the Carondelet Surgery center staff did a good job, and we were relieved. The facility itself is newer, and appears clean and organized. There's even a separate play area for kids. After checking in, we waited for our turn to be called. Back in the pre-op area it looked like a standard hospital area. The staff seemed very familiar and comfortable working with kids. Our nurse had a very reassuring demeanor. The whole check in went quickly... and while I was nervous things were being rushed, I was actually grateful there wasn't this prolonged waiting period where our son had time and opportunity to get freaked out. We changed him into the gown, the doctor came by and asked us if we had any questions, the anesthesiologist came by to check in with us, and then our son was off in the arms of the nurse. She whisked him away so quickly without goodbyes that he didn't even have time to get upset... smart nurse! They gave us a pager, and when our son was ready to be picked up from recovery it would go off. Yay for modern technology--its just like a restaurant! It seemed like it was less than 10 minutes from the time we handed off our son to the time the doctor was coming out and telling us he did well. A few minutes after that our pager was going off, and we were directed to pull around back to pick him up from recovery. Clearly this facility is a well oil-ed machine. Efficient, organized. I did feel a little anxious by how quickly everything was rushed around, but it looks like everything turned out well... and you have to love a place who loves your kid, right?? read more

I have had a total of 14 operations, inpatient and outpatient, and this facility and staff are top notch. I am a firm believer in the idea that you get what you give. If you usually have a bad experience wherever you go, then chances are the problem isn't with the service you receive, it all starts with you. That being said, the facility is extremely nice and the staff are very polite and professional. I have always had very difficult veins and starting an IV on me is usually a task. The nurses in pre-op were very professional and apologetic when it took them 4 tries to get my IV started. I do not blame them because of my previous experiences. I actually felt bad for them because I knew it would be difficult. The admissions process is very quick and the waiting area is very nice. Just an all around great place read more

Waiting in the lobby and I'm trusting the staff is taking very good care of our loved one but the older lady with light brown hair in check- in isn't very personable and rude and I hope she understands that the people in the waiting room are worried! She needs to be a little more sensitive. She needs to be trained better! read more

The facility itself was fine and the surgery went well and I would like to give them a good rating, but their utter lack of concern for the patients family was deplorable. My son had to have his ear tubes removed and of course it was January so none of our deductible requirements had been met. To do the surgery our Dr. required the $500 deductible to be paid up front, which I paid. Carondelet notified us we would have to pay our deductible up front as well to move ahead with the surgery. My Dr. contacted the surgery center and explained I had already paid it to him and all was to be taken care of and I would only have to pay my co-insurance amount ($102) at the time of surgery. However, when we arrived for his surgery (already stressed to gills for obvious reasons), I was informed that all was not taken care of. I was told that I would have to pay my $500 deductible plus my co-insurance amount. Our Dr. and I both explained to them we had already paid it, but they could care less. We either needed to pay or they would cancel the surgery. They even had the Administrator come up to demonstrate how heartless she was in explaining it was their policy and our inability to pay another $500+ was not her concern as that was their policy (apparently their is not a common sense provision underwritten into their policies) and she would do nothing about it. They did find it in their ever blackened hearts to force me to only pay $260 that day in exchange for a promissory note over two (2) payments on the rest, but would let the surgery happen (nothing like punishing my 7 year old son by making him wait even longer). I inquired as to how quickly I would be reimbursed from them once they received payment from my insurance company and I was told "probably 30 days" and when I asked if they would reimburse me for my interest charges, I was given an emphatic NO, but they were decent enough to chuckle at me when they said it. Three (3) weeks later I follow up with my insurance company to see who and when they paid. My insurance company explains they withheld the deductible from the Dr.'s payment and paid the Surgery Center all but my co-insurance amount (gee the overpayment to them just as I suspected, shocker I know). So I call the Surgery Center and they tell me that despite the fact that my insurance company gave them the payment electronically last week, it was not entered into my account, so they could not process my refund, but that it would happen in 2-3 weeks after they finally post it, but of course could not tell me when they would post it. They were however clearly unhappy that I proved them wrong and that they have an unhappy customer. The bottom line is they could care-less about the patient and are focused only on extorting co-pays and deductibles out of whomever they can. I can appreciate a lot of people don't pay, but I am not some dope off the street without insurance. They verified everything before hand and knew I was insured and that the Dr, got the deductible, yet HAD TO HAVE THEIR MONEY NOW!!! I would ask for a different surgery center in the future!!! The above is my experience and their intentions my not have been exactly as I stated, but this is my opinion and my take on how they acted and why I would never go back! read more

I had hernia surgery at this location on 16 May 2017. I would give it 5 stars but I gave it only 4 stars because of the utterly horrible receptionist who was on duty at 6.30 am that day. This woman should not be dealing with the public. I almost cancelled the surgery because of her. Arrogant bullying and thoroughly bad person. A female thug. She should be fired. The good news is that once you get past her, the people are absolutely wonderful. The nurse who prepped me was especially wonderful. Give her a raise!. The surgical nurse, was great. The facilities are excellent. A special word for the lady who was the anesthesiologist. She was so supportive, kind and friendly. So sorry for not giving you a five, but that receptionist ruined the party. read more

We had a surgery with Dr. Parry for my 17 month old. We were really nervous but the staff there was amazing. They were through and very sensitive to us worried parents. Janina was our pre op nurse and she was wonderful. My daughter loved her and easily went with her. It really help put us at ease. Volunteers brought in blankets for the babies to keep warm since it's fairly cold in the pre op area and to take home with them. They called us back as soon as she started stirring and I was with her before she opened her eyes. Dr. Parry was great. In his office and at surgery, I would recommend him and the surgery center to anyone with kids. read more

The first time there the RN was out standing, laser eye procedure went well both times. Second time had right carpel tunnel procedure done. Terrible time. Surgical scheduler said we could get in several hours earlier. We waited about 4 hours without sleep or food. An RN there made an incident report out on us stating a total lie of a criminal nature! I fired the Dr after he unjustly accused us, I had no idea of what had happened. Going back now having Left hand carpel tunnel release done by a more thorough, professional MD. Hopefully will get the proper treatment I deserve. Boy who inferred people get the treatment they deserve has an arrogant tone. His picture shows a large beard. Every one is different. I too have had a multitude of serious operations starting in childhood. Everyone is different. Don't judge others unless you are perfect and NO one is perfect. read more

My 18 mo had ear tubes put in and the nurses were very friendly. I felt the priority placed on my young child was amazing. I feel the staff from check in to check out were clear on the facilities requirements with what and how things were to proceed. They were very efficient. read more

My husband has been there many times for different types of surgeries & almost every time it's the same lady registering by herself. The lobby fills up with parents, children & many older adults. I have seen many lose their temper with this lady which I did not get her name & not once have seen her lose her temper with them. She goes between two desks trying to get the patients checked in as fast as possible but some still treat her unfair. So please when walking into a business like this do not take it out on the employee(s)at the desk especially when you see them trying their best to service you. read more

The medical service was fine but their business office is terrible. They had me pay in advance of my procedure but over billed me $250. I called four times, often with no return call, get the run around etc. Five weeks after BC/BS settled with them they still have not sent me a refund. read more

My husband had an Achilles rupture repair done at this facility a month ago and ended up getting a very serious MRSA infection requiring IV medication. This was a repeat surgery due to a re-rupture from the initial surgery done 3 weeks prior at St. Joseph's hospital on Wilmot St. I mention this because the pre-op care was completely unsanitized. They never gave him the antibiotic cleansing soap to be used the morning before the surgery. He was still wearing his underwear during the operation and never received any cleansing wipes to clean himself prior to surgery as was done at St. Joseph's hospital. To make matters worse, they called me to say he was ready to go home but when I got there about 20 minutes later he was in so much pain from a migraine headache, he couldn't even open his eyes. His blood pressure was extremely high and he was in no condition to leave the hospital. I asked the nurse if they could give him something for his migraine. She told me "We're not a hospital and don't have any medicine." She was rude and tried to rush us out of there. Finally, after overhearing us argue, the anesthesiologist came in and told the nurse to give him two different shots of medicine for his migraine. Another nurse took over and after a half hour or so we were able to go home. Two days later my husband developed a high fever and pain in his leg. He was admitted into the emergency room where they told him that his leg was infected and he had phnemonia. The doctors at the hospital argued with my husband's doctor over the phone that the surgical site was infected and needed to be cut open, drained and cleaned. The Doctor didn't show up to look at his infected leg for two days. I was in the hospital room when he finally did show up and watched him press pus out of my husband's leg. Only when my husband was told he had MRSA, did his doctor finally agree to clean out the wound. Now, a month later my husband is still taking vancomycin IV medicine connected to his heart to try to kill the MRSA. I would not recommend this doctor (Timothy Berney) or this facility for any surgery. PLEASE go somewhere else!!! read more
