We were totally surprised when the speaker started playing loud (way too loud) music and there was a belly dance performance. The presentation of the food was fine but I will say I was a bit disappointed about the quality. The rice and chicken were a bit dry and I was not impressed with the bread. It was extremely flat and chewy instead of fluffy and soft, it felt like prepackaged bread and not fresh made. The stuffed grape leaves were too sour and tasted like pickles. Caroun is our GO TO restaurant for Middle Eastern food in Phoenix. We generally order the Appetizer platter (which use to be complimentary) and the Family Platter for 3. We were there on Saturday evening. The food is always excellent and there are always leftovers to take home. Unfortunately, on Saturday night there were 6 unruly children who thought they were at the playground. They ran around the restaurant - making a significant amount of noise, and were never asked to stop by their respective parents or the staff. It certainly made for an unpleasant experience for us and other customers. I hope the owner reads my comments. We have second thoughts about returning there. Our Go To restaurant in Scottsdale is the Persian Room. We have never experienced unrully children there. The Persian Room is lovely and the food is excelent. read more

The kebabs are very fatty and have a great Smokey flavor from the grill. The server came to seat us right away and we looked over the menu. Everything looked great, but the prices are expensive. We went with the chicken shawarma to share as it was the cheapest thing. It was actually pretty good portion to share between us 2. It was very tasty and the fries were super crispy. The garlic sauce was so good. I asked for more and I wish the lady told me there was a charge for more before just adding it to my bill. We were still hungry so decided to try something else from the menu. We got the Caroun special plate with all 3 meats. It was like $26 and you get 3 skewers with 3 pieces of meat on each skewer. Like what? The rice was very bland. Wow wow wow! I wish I had the time to take pictures of the goodness we had last night! We ordered dinner from Carouns through Grubhub to Hilton Tapattio Cliff hotel. The menu had lots of good options so my husband and I ordered the Tashreeb, which is basically a lamb shank cooked in a beautiful tomato sauce with some chickpeas, onions and green bell peppers as well as spices. It is served on a bed of big broken pieces of bread. We also ordered the half grilled chicken. It is served with rice, garlic sauce, and cabbage salad on the side as well as Lebanese bread. The food took about 45 minutes from order to delivery. They had a $5 off deal and I have free delivery on grubhub so the order was about $36 before tip. When the food arrived it was very hot and fresh. The portion size was huge! Each of those dishes could have easily fed two people; we have leftovers today. The taste was just amazing! The lamb shank was so tender, it was falling off the bone. I am not Iraqi originally but if I remember correctly, this dish is eaten by hand. You just grab the pieces of bread, cut a piece of meat, dip some saucy goodness with it and enjoy! Everything in this dish was 10/10! The chicken was flavored beautifully with garlic and the rice was good with some veggies. They complemented each other very well! This was an amazing discovery at that part of the valley! I just decided to order when I saw they had pretty good reviews and a deal going on! This place is a must try if you enjoy Middle Eastern dishes! We cannot wait to go back again!
