Recently had them replace about 1200 soft of luxury vinyl flooring due to a flood. I made the mistake of paying for all of it before the job was done, because they actually had a very quick turn around time. Needless to say, the quality of the install was bad; it is raised up in many spots and feels squishy when you walk on it. In addition, they never installed the transition pieces when going to another flooring type. I have called a number of times to try and get this resolved, but they always say something like we need to contact your installer and will call you back or yes it is being taken care of - we are just waiting on parts, etc. They haven't called me back once, and although I keep calling they haven't scheduled any time to fix the issue yet. Stay away, unless you can hold a final payment and make sure it is done right before paying. read more

We spent quite a bit of money and were pleased with installation. Unfortunately, when we requested help on the front end we were misguided. When we sought assistance post purchase our first email was apparently missed but later received upon reaching out via the national online chat. Bottom line is that if I were to do it over again I'd go somewhere else for less money and maybe even better service after the fact. I originally ordered my flooring in Longmont and there were some issues. Although the overall experience was ok, when issues arose the manager there, Jon, was not at all friendly. My sales person was often not available and I did not feel comfortable talking to the manager. I called Boulder and Tyler(and everyone I talked to there) went above and beyond in professionalism and assistance. I will shop there again, and if I were carpet exchange I would appreciate employees like that! They saved the carpet exchange reputation for me. read more

The process of buying a house is stressful enough, who needs extra! Margie at the Boulder location was patient and kind, worked with my insane schedule and even got the carpet delivered and installed a day early! The guys installing the carpet were courteous and professional and got the job done (4 rooms, 2 sets of stairs, closets, and hallways) in a more than reasonable amount of time! Even with an hour of power loss due to high winds! Having gone to a big box store to start my carpet journey, I'm glad I ended up at Carpet Exchange - better carpet for just the money spent!! This review has to do with the service provided by the Carpet Exchange (Tony's installation was excellent). The final payment was charged four days before the installation, not the day before, per the invoice. This put the charge on a credit card billing cycle we had not intended. We did not get the receipt, so we did not know it had been charged, and we were not told that the carpet layer would contact us between 8 and 10 the morning of the installation, so we spent a lot of time waiting and wondering and making phone calls . . . . When contacted, Margie was extremely unhelpful. She offered a recompense of some kind, but one week later we had received nothing and had no follow-up from her. read more

Could not be happier with our recent carpet purchase (1800 sf) and they also did the new granite counter-tops in the kitchen AND beat Home Depot's price on the granite!! Very precision work - I loved how they did the stairwells - rounded edges - it is beautiful! We did not price out the carpet at Home Depot, but we did check out the carpet selection & feel we got much better quality at Carpet Exchange for the same approx. price. We recently purchased a quartz countertop from Carpet Exchange. I called at 7, and they close at 8. He encouraged us to come in. Mitch Reiss was was so patient with us as we asked many questions. He explained all about the quartz. He was funny, pleasant to work with, and knowledgeable about the product. The best part was that he patiently changed the contract when I changed my mind about the color choice. When I checked to see if he received my email about the change, he had already written the new one and sent it out. I was needing some new carpet for my living room for a property I was renovating. I had bedroom carpets installed by another company with some issues and I decided to try something new for the living room. I went to Boulder office and worked with Tylor to pick out a great wool carpet. Tylor was incredibly knowledgeable and explained how the process worked with their company. He gave us a clear indication what range our quote would fall into even before the official measurements. We had three potential carpets that we wanted and he checked the inventory of all three and let us take the panels home. Other companies would allow us to checkout panels of items that weren't even available. I recommend working with Tylor at this location. read more

I went to carpet exchange looking for carpet and tile for four rooms in our house. Initially they were helpful in the store and let us take samples home to look at. We had someone come out to look at the house to give us an estimate. We waited for three weeks before we finally got any estimates from carpet exchange. We also called them multiple times to follow up with our estimate and they always "took a message" for us but our sales guy almost never called us back. It took him weeks to answer emails. Finally, we switched to a different carpet exchange to get the work done because we could not wait any longer. It was unfortunate to have such poor customer service. We are planning on spending a lot of money to renovate our floors and ultimately we had to take our time and money elsewhere. read more

I want to amend my previous one star review. Margie, the assistant manager, responded patiently and with understanding to all my issues and resolved them successfully. The quality of the carpet was excellent, the installers were on time and did a great job, and in the end the price was adjusted to reflect all the inconveniences to me over the 3 week period. As it turned out all the issues were due to communication errors/difficulties. So while I still recommend this company, I'd advise you to double check things during the process. read more

I would rate 0 stars if possible. These guys seem like criminals - after being told my rug would be in after 2 weeks and that I'd be contacted when it came in, I waited 5 weeks and then eventually called them. They told me it had come in and they'd forgotten to let me know. I went in to the store to pick it up, and it was the completely wrong rug. Without apology they told me that the new rug would be in within another week and they would call me when it came in. I waited another 4 weeks with no calls. Fed up from waiting 2 months to get my rug, I called to get my money back. The person I talked to was very skeptical and doubted that I should get my money back. He originally said he would only refund my money from the rug and not the rug grip which he was sure I had taken already. ( I had not - why would I need a rug grip without the rug?) I was told my money would be refunded within a week, if how things have gone is any indication, I will get my money back in about a year.... read more

However, they apologized for the mistake and were able to reschedule for the following day. The installers did a good job. I recently visited carpet exchange because I am interested in purchasing LVT floors for my condo. I did a lot of research on different flooring types and decided that for my 2 dog family LVT was the best fit. upon entering I was not greeted. This was ok since everyone was busy. I found the LVT on my own. Then when I was finally ready to ask some questions, I had to lurk around the desk until finally some one acknowledged me. It seems Mitch was the unlucky sales person who got to help me. Finally when I stared asking questions about there LVT, what is the wear layer, how long is the commercial warranty, what is the top layer of the vinyl made of. Mitch didn't have any answers. From what I could tell Mitch had no desire to sell me floors. I really liked the look of the Coretec floors, but will not be purchasing them here, or from Mitch. read more

I had a terrible experience. Will never buy carpet from here again. If you must, Margi was great but the company horrible. Our carpet was over $7k for three rooms and the seam of the carpet that is in the middle of my bedroom is very noticeable and looks like a big hump. It looks terrible. Certainly was not there on old carpet and I know and have been told all Capet comes in the same width. They came out, agreed, and tried to stretch it a few times. The technicians agreed that there was an issue and then went back to the office and they sent out a gentleman to inspect for the third time. He decided nothing was wrong even though clearly the only reason he was there was because the last two gentlemen agreed there was a problem. Needless to say they did nothing for me. My carpet still looks horrible right in center of my bedroom. Shop elsewhere. read more

This is a good company with good management. The sales staff is as good as they come, the products are top quality, and the selection is excellent. My only criticism is based on installation and in-home service. We just purchased more than $26,000 in wood and Cor Tec floor covering and bathroom tile from the Boulder store. Virtually every floor in the house was replaced with Carpet Exchange products. The experience was excellent until we tried to establish a reliable installation schedule. That part took weeks, and in the end, the work was merely OK. This is a supercharged building market right now, as we all understand. Nevertheless, great sales experiences and top products can be tainted by substandard installation and unreliable followup. This issue needs to be attended to if the store intends to maintain its reputation. read more

After the big flood, we ordered new carpeting. The store manager, Adam Lester, was efficient and knowledgeable. The carpet was installed, but after living with very visible seams for 6 months, we asked for something to be done. After following store procedures for such an issue, the management agreed that the installation was at fault. Carpet Exchange guarantees their labor. Adam was as efficient in seeing that the carpet was replaced as he had been in the sale of the initial carpet. Despite this installation issue, I give this business and Adam 4 stars for follow through, excellent and prompt communication, and a willingness to see the problem solved to our satisfaction. 5 stars, if the installation had been right the first time. Highly recommend. We would use them again, if needed, especially if Adam were in charge. read more

I highly recommend Mark Smith at Carpet Exchange in Boulder for all of your flooring needs. Mark has a very high level of integrity, patience, and resolve in helping you find the right flooring for your project. He's done an absolutely wonderful job for our construction company and just recently helped us select flooring personally. I was impressed by his patience as I worked through the flooring processes, selecting numerous samples, ordering extra samples, bringing them back and then shooting off in a new direction. He carried flooring materials/samples outside into the sunlight and set them up against various surfaces (stone etc) so that I could see their true color. Mark even laid them out one piece at a time emphasizing how they tend to look different alone vs. lying next to other flooring samples. I never felt rushed or pressured and found his comments and suggestions very useful/even indispensable. Mark's very easy to communicate with both in getting your questions answered and by quickly responding to emails. Had a great experience at Carpet Exchange. Lea was a great help. I ran in with about 1 hour to look at carpet. I also had a tight schedule because the furniture I ordered ended up being available & was going to deliver within 6 business days. Lea helped me pick out about 8 samples to take home. She then tracked down a couple some pieces that were already in the warehouse & therefore available on such short notice. I picked a day for install (the very next week), left a deposit & called her 2 days later with my color choice. The installer, Salvio, was right on time, super quick & professional. I am very happy with the carpet. It looks & feels great. This is the 3rd time I've purchased carpet from Carpet Exchange - (2 times for my own home, once for my rental houses), every time it's been quick, easy & done right. Great experience with Carpet Exchange in Boulder! Mindy Dyer was wonderful to work with, as well, as everyone else. I checked out three other Boulder carpet companies and Carpet Exchange gave me the best price for my new carpet (approx. 1300 sq. ft.) and kitchen and bath floors.The Carpet Exchange quote included measuring, installation and moving furniture. The other stores quoted carpet and told me installation and furniture moving was extra and they would not know how much the charge for moving the furniture would be until the day of installation. Kyle (the measure guy) did an excellent job. Luciano, the carpet installer, and his crew were very conscientious and careful when they moved our furniture. They were very professional and courteous and they arrived when then said they would. Lucas Flooring installed the kitchen and bath flooring and again a more professional and courteous crew we could not have had! They also arrived when they said they would. I did not have a good experience at carpet exchange. They made an error on my quote which I did not have to pay, however I felt they rubbed my nose in their mistake every chance they got. The installers complained about moving furniture however I was not given any prep instructions. There are chips in the laminate that have not been resolved. The laminate installers left some areas of baseboard unfinished and had to redo some where the seams did not match. I never should have made my final payment because now nobody answers my phone calls or emails. They broke my bed and took a chunk out of my dining room table. The salesperson yelled at me and could not understand why I was on happy. Her son was the installer. I would not recommend this company to anyone ever. Worst service ever. After examining my floors I found 6 chips from the install in the living room alone. Hopefully someone will fix them someday read more

If you want even a modicum of customer service, do not consult or buy from Carpet Exchange in Boulder. This has been a truly horrendous experience. We ordered our flooring and carpeting in late July. It's now late September. The project is still not completed, nor has there been any explanation as to the reasons why. We were told to pay everything up front, the entire project, or we would not have installation. (This is never a sound business practice; only disreputable companies do this.) But....foolishly and desperate to get the project rolling, we paid. Carpet Exchange has all our money for the project...everything. What we have in exchange is a half done main bathroom, no flooring on a stairway, and an entry way that has not even been touched. It's all still waiting for completion. Margie, who is supposed to be a spot-on customer service representative and salesperson, has been disagreeable, unhelpful, inaccurate, non-communicative, and a complete disappointment. I would strongly urge anyone thinking of purchasing from Carpet Exchange to look elsewhere. What a waste of time and money. Maybe if we weren't elderly and owned a 12,000 sq. ft. home, they would have treated us with more respect. read more

If there were SIX stars I would give them to Carpet Exchange primarily thanks to Mitch Reiss who actually knows the meaning of customer service. What a wonderful, personable, patient kind man he has been. He listened to what our needs were and I explained that we wanted the flooring to look nice without investing a bunch of money because we are hoping to sell our home very soon. He actually showed me a cheaper carpet than the one I was looking at and helped me find the laminate to match. He explained everything carefully, made sure we understood the process and continued to check in on us as the project progressed. As always, there were a few hiccups along the way but Mitch has been great about working with us to make things right. He sent up two great teams of installers who obviously were experts in their professions and the job looks great. We had a strange gap between some tile and the laminate and the installer, Patrick, custom cut a piece of flooring that would cover the area and look seamless. If you have a chance to request a laminate installer I highly, highly recommend Patrick! I have enjoyed working with Mitch so much that I'm kind of sad that the job is almost over. The next home we buy will likely need some kind of flooring change and I will not hesitate to call on Mitch again. In an age where everyone is communicating via text/Twitter and other forms of communication that don't require finesse, it's s refreshing to find someone who actually knows how to TALK to me.
