Please stay away at all cost!!!…read more My husband and I hired Joe to sand and lighten the floors of our house. He said that he could get the job done in one week and because of the type of wood in our home it would be better to go darker. Along the way there were some hiccups involving the color of the floor and how the floor would stain, but joe did stay in communication with us. HOWEVER Joe is a yes man. He will yes you the death and then when you aren't satisfied he will say "I don't know what else there is to do." I asked for an even dark finish and many of the panels were different colors as you can see in the picture. I had another independent company and one of Joe's employees come look at the floor. Both stated that some steps were missed. The floors are scratching left and right and we will definitely have to get another company to redo the floors. In the end I paid Joe over $3,000 and said the job was fine because it was too much hassle to get him to take accountability. I waited a month just to see if the color would settle in but it didn't. I called joe one last time to get advice and see if there's anything we could do. His response "this doesn't concern me anymore and of course other companies would tell you the floors look bad." While some parts of the home look beautiful other parts look absolutely awful and with all of the scratches we will definitely need to redo the floors.

I was torn between giving Amore a two or three star review, because our floors are done and mostly…read morelook good. I decided to go with a two star review, however, because of the incredible stress this experience caused my husband and I. I literally had to get a prescription for insomnia pills mid-way through this job because I was so stressed that I could not sleep. Jim and his crew came highly recommended by our furniture maker, which is why we decided to hire them. But from the first day on the job, things began going very wrong. Here are some highlights: This was a job that we were told would take 4.5 days. Instead, it took SEVEN WEEKS. Jim did not order the proper amount of wood, so we had to stop the job midway through to wait on more wood to arrive while we meanwhile had a big concrete hole in our kitchen. He also neglected to order base molding ahead of time, which caused further delays. When the base molding finally arrived, it was too thick for our space - it hangs over the door frames and looks awful. We wound up just accepting it because we were so worn down that we just wanted everything to be over. On the first day of the job, a manager on Jim's crew wrongly told us we had bed begs, costing us a day of lost work while we freaked out, plus $300 for a bed-bug sniffing dog. We did not have bed bugs. This was a truly awful experience. Jim was not present to oversee the work, and the Brazilian crew who did the demo and floor install were very sloppy. They damaged and scratched our walls, the repair for which Jim originally wanted to charge us nearly $800 for (we argued this out and he wound up covering it). The crew installed faulty boards, which had to be ripped out and replaced; installed boards that were not fully glued down and squeaked and moved when they were stepped on, which had to be replaced; and, in over a dozen places, actually damaged brand new boards that they had just installed by dragging and dropping our furniture - which again, had to all be replaced. On one morning, one of Jim's main workers showed up, dumped some boards in our living room that were supposed to be installed that day, told us he was going to go park his car, and then disappeared. It turned out he had decided he just didn't want to do the job anymore. The workers threw away a piece of our kitchen cabinet and they broke a pot and threw away the pieces, seemingly to hide the evidence. We insisted on being compensated for the pot and Jim had a piece of wood made to replace the missing cabinet part, but this just showed a general, worrying lack of care and responsibility on the crew's part. In another instance, a worker opened our patio door in the middle of a tropical storm after we told him to keep the door shut. The door flew open, slammed against the wall and broke. When we called Jim to tell him about this, he exploded and started yelling at us, sayin that it wasn't his fault the door broke - "It's the wind's fault" - and that he wouldn't cover the repair. We wound up splitting the $1600 cost to fix the door, meaning we wound up footing an $800 bill because of his worker's sloppiness. Jim did not tell us that we would have to hire someone separated to caulk and paint the base molding, which came as an unpleasant surprise. When our general contractor arrived to do the caulking and painting, he discovered that Jim's guy hadn't even installed the base molding correctly. We had to run out and buy a nail gun so he could fix it. Jim agreed before the job that his crew would help us disassemble two pieces of furniture that were secured to the wall (a bed and cabinet). The crew then whined and complained about it, saying this is not their job (then why did they take the job??). In the end, they wouldn't even put the cabinet back on the wall - we had to get our general contractor do it, who easily reinstalled in. These issues would have been a lot more tolerable had Jim's attitude been better. He repeatedly told us we were too involved and we were expecting too much. Any time we expressed dissatisfaction about something, Jim would literally yell at us and say we're unreasonable. Keep in mind, this is for a $40,000 job - in our home. It got to the point that my husband was having 45-minute yelling calls with Jim on a nearly daily basis, taking away from his and my ability to do our jobs and just live our lives. One morning, he called my husband at 7:30 am to yell about caulking. I heard my husband scream from the other room, "Do you know I have a job that isn't yelling at Jim!?" In 10 years of marriage, I literally had never heard my husband yell like that. It was extremely upsetting. In my husband's last 45-minute call with Jim, he literally asked why we never thanked him for the job. That about sums it up. The good points are that Jim did finish the job - he did not disappear on us. He also did fix many of the damaged and problematic boards. But overall, the experience was just a nightmare.

I am sitting here in utter distress with squeaky and popping floors. The only good thing about it is from afar and surface the looks good , it's natural oak engineered floors. Let me list out everything that was wrong . 1. The main guy Jim Berardi has anger issues and pretty much tormented me through the process. I should mention he apologized after I broke down and called him out but it doesn't stop him from saying " you know nothing about floors" and " what do you want me to do, I sent my guy to nail it down ". He was fine and courteous to talk to before the work started and he had half deposit which I generously gave when covid started as I like to work on trust. He is the meanest and rudest person I have worked with. 2. There was no manager on site , Jim hasn't been on site physically since he got the contract. A site manager Steve was suppose to be onsite but never made it( I don't know why ). Jim said Bruno, his flooring guy was the site manager but since the floor has issues , I have asked him numerous times to let me talk to Bruno and the answer is " he is a laborer and I deal with client " . I don't get it whether he is a laborer or a site Manager ? And who uses verbiage like "laborer" in today's day and age ? Bruno by far has been the most courteous person to talk to and I wish I was only dealing with him but he is loyal to Jim 3. I paid 500 bucks for "deep" Cleaning service. The same guys who packed and unpacked were trying to clean with a cloth. I had to call jim to ensure that they clean the kitchen and bathroom as they were NOT agreeing to it . What does deep cleaning mean ? I asked them a number of times to clean pantry shelves and that still had a fat layer of dust and I gave up . Jim gave me half off and said he is doing it as a courtesy and not because they effed up and don't know how to clean ? 4. I paid 1000 dollars for packing and unpacking and my apartment didn't have a lot of stuff . They didn't cover my furniture , my throws were in a basket kept in the bathroom without cover. I came to visit the first day and they were removing the floor. My couch and fabric furniture was kept without covers. My closet Was not covered and all my clothes had to be washed and office closet he's dry cleaned. I could have hired someone awesome to get it done properly . 5. All of the above would have been forgotten if the floors would have turned out ok but see the issues ( Jim initially said that the wood needs to be acclimated but never did for some reason, he lied about things left right center so am not sure what's the story behind it ) - they left the closet doors out , damaged the mouldings and the ceiling had black lines from moving the closet doors. On top of that his guys kept the closet door brackets in random places because of which 2 brackets were lost ( these are 30 years old closet doors ) and then he blamed me for losing them.He sent someone to fix it who didn't know much , handy man from my building helped and had 2 brackets from a job he did for anther apartment. - When I examined a floor plank the day I visited , that plank had Knicks and dents and he assured me the installers never install damaged planks. Guess what ? I found probably 8-10 in living room and guest room and I refused to look more( his carpenter showed me a few !!)I live in 920 sqft apartment but I wanted it to end so got some money off and said am done with this and wanted to move on. I paid the rest of the installment. - 1 day after I said am done I could hear pop sound from 2-3 places and to my horror I had to text him again. Brand new floors had an issue that my old floors didn't ? Then he picked up my phone and said " you said you wanted nothing do with us , I will help you out of courtesy " .. really ?????? Before he sent his guy , I checked the entire apartment the weekend before and taped all places and there were about 25 of them ( sigh) .. I sent him pics and he said " we won't fix everything " .. his guy came who was nice and drilled maybe a 300 nails in my apartment , many on each plank which was filled with filler but you can see it in pictures . It fixed the issue 50 percent ( felt like at that time ). The pops reappeared and now the issue is all over the apartment , pops and clicks - Last , all I am asking from Jim is the floor invoice ( where he is strike off the price ) so I know the exact wood and quantity which he wouldn't give me. And I asked simple questions about how the subfloor and floor was installed so I can tell other contractors who come to look at it it but keeps making excuses. Since then I have contacted many contractors who either said that it's acclimation , or subfloor issues ( most likely it's sub floors ) and they have asked me to wait till fall.

I found Andrei through a Yelp Project request, and he is easily the single best expert and service…read moreprovider that I've come across through years of using Yelp Projects. I needed to get the hinges replaced on a noisy inside door of my house (the joys of being a new homeowner), and I got several responses from contractors across Yelp. Andrei's stood out both because it was the lowest price quote, and he had the best reviews of any other respondent. It seemed a little too good to be true, but I figured it was worth taking a chance. I'm glad I did, because Andrei IS too good to be true, and yet he exists. Excellent communication, punctual, thorough and completely self-sufficient, the hinge replacement process started off great. Then, after expertly replacing the hinges, and even sanding a bit at the base of the door where it caused the door to stick when opening and closing, he checked to see how the door opened and closed - the door was now blissfully quiet, but still stuck, and he identified the door latch and plate as needing to be adjusted. Above and beyond! The door works perfectly now, it's literally like a new door. And because the door was to my mother-in-law's bedroom, having Andrei provide this superlative service scored me a few points with her (well, at least for a few hours, until she found something else to grumble about). He also left the space clean, and was very courteous from start to finish. I am so thrilled to have found Andrei, because as a new homeowner, I am discovering fun new surprises in the house that I purchased late last year all the time. Now I know just who to turn to when the surprise is too much for my husband or I to handle on our own.

Not only…read moredid he refinish their floors, but he also installed new wood flooring which was equally as beautiful. When I purchased my home, I knew I was going to have Marcin come and refinish my floors. Marcin came and the work was incredible. He was punctual, neat, detailed and responsive. My husband tipped him upon completion even though he owns this company and the painters tape he used for the plastic tarps peeled off my new paint, but we appreciated his work. Yes. The painters tape that they used to hang plastic tarps to contain dust peeled my newly painted walls. I wasn't happy, but I never mentioned it due to my walls needing lots of tlc prior to his work. He used painters tape and I thought they were fully cured after a few weeks, so this was not his fault. And yes, we should have had the walls fixed after the floors. That's on us. Looking around further, I noticed the reusable carpet stair treads I purchased to prevent falls were missing. We did not have carpeting or a runner that needed to be removed. Only these reusable treads. When I inquired about where he put them, he told me he threw them out and it was "a miscommunication". There was zero communication regarding this, no apology, and no offer to replace them. "Rugs or carpets are not belongings" was the response I got when I told him I didn't realize I had to tell him not to discard my belongings. Arguing with me about the definition of belongings was crazy and unprofessional. If someone buys something, they own it, therefore making it something that BELONGS to them which makes it a belonging. No attempt to make it right, no apology, nothing but combative texts with me. Again, no carpet removal, no area rug, no furniture to move, no runner on the steps that people would naturally throw away once ripped up, just defensive behavior. I recovered some of my treads digging in bags of saw dust but not all of them were there as they were in a prior garbage pickup. So I'll need to purchase new ones. Not the end of the world, but it's the point. So if you want good work, he's your guy. If you want professionalism and to not have your purchases/BELONGINGS discarded followed up with defensive and combative responses after inquiring about why they were discarded, then steer very clear of this guy. But who knows, he probably won't have the set to speak to a man that way so ladies beware.
