The energy is cool here. Real bbq style restaurant. The decor is cool and goes well with the type of food. The service was awesome! It was our first time here and we were taking forever looking at the menu. The staff were very helpful and made great recommendations. Now, the food! It was pretty damn good. I'm a fat guy at heart and well, actually I'm just fat. The platter I ordered was so dope. The BBQ chicken sandwich wasn't big but it made for that with the flavor! It was crunchy and tasted awesome! Nice juicy white breast, it was ittie bittie, but I'm that committee. The fries were smacking and there was a lot. The chicken nuggets were fresh and crispy. The BBQ sauce and special sauce they gave me were freaking delicious. I poured some of it on my pillow because I knew I was going to dream about the food and chew on my pillow. My Coke float was perfect! It had the right mixture and the soft serve was on point. I gave this place 5 stars because you know what you're getting, it's open late as hell, and finally it's a great change of pace from the normal westernized fast food garbage that gave diabetes to the Middle East and Japan. Normally don't have a problem with Cook Out's food. For some reason the Barbeque sandwich was dry, even with hot sauce and coleslaw. Service was quick considering when I got there the line was out the door. After the line died down it was somewhat quiet. read more

Walked in, zero customers inside (at 730 PM that's a sign). Stood at the counter for at least 9 mins, absolutely didn't even recognize me. Not ONE customer in line nor the store. Being from Maryland whenever I see a cookout, I have to get the hush puppies and a shake!!!! We get other things but those are high on the list. I was SO ready for this location to open. The drive thru was speedy and the food was great. We got the platters, one 2 corn dog tray and one burger tray with teas. The food was cooked well, and the teas were perfect, not too sweet and didn't taste like they had been sitting all day. Customer service and hygiene standards need significant improvement. But most importantly is the customer service they hate their jobs and reflect it onto the customers LOL! Drive thru is super quick, really cool that this location has the dining area as well. This is the spot for quick, cheap, and greasy but you definitely get your money's worth. Had a blueberry milkshake, spicy chicken sandwich, fries, and nugs for nine dollars. Staff is pretty efficient just make sure you get your sauce at the window!! read more

This place is hit or miss- of course the food is always good for such quick service--BUUUUTT the attitude and atmosphere of the customer service is DISGUSTING!! I write this not based on the food or atmosphere but as a sad commentary of the management at our new Cook Out here in town. My daughter recently went to apply for a job at the new Hopewell location. She had been really excited about applying there for her first job experience. Almost every time we passed it, she'd comment about working there someday soon. She went in to turn in her application a couple weeks ago and asked to speak to a manager. The manager looked at her application and asked if my daughter could come in Friday at 5:00 for an interview. We had a camping trip planned for the weekend, and she explained that she was not available in the evening on Friday. He then asked her to come in on Monday at 5:00, and she agreed to that. We heard about the interview all weekend. She was so excited. We came home from our camping trip, and on Monday she got dressed up (more than normal) and we arrived at the location about 10 minutes before 5:00. My wife and I waited in the car. My daughter texted us that the manager who told her to be there at 5:00 was not there and she was told to sit down at a table. Over the next hour, she sat there, not sure what to do (this being her first experience with an interview). Two employees came to her during that time and asked why she was there. She told them she was there for an interview. My wife and I figured things must be going well as it had been an hour since she went in. At about 6:00 a third employee came and asked her what she was there for, and she again explained that she was there for an interview. He went and got a manager, who came out, asked what her availability was, and told my daughter they were not hiring for those hours right now. My daughter came out crying, not sure what had happened. I wanted to go in and ask why my daughter had to sit there for an hour just to be told they were not hiring for the hours that were already shown on her application, but I was trying to allow her to do things on her own, so we left. I was angry - but angry at her treatment, not the fact that she did not get hired. I called the corporate phone number a couple of days later after attempting to get a contact for a regional or district-level manager. I left a message and a friendly lady from the corporate office called me back within a couple of hours. I explained the situation and they offered to have someone call me. She agreed with me that it was odd and stated that "they are always hiring." It's been a week now and no one has called back. I have given up on the idea of speaking with someone and decided to write this review. Just for more context, one of my daughter's friends was hired just before her experience, and another was hired right after her experience. Both of them were walk-in, on-the-spot hires. I could speculate as to why, but I am trying not to. I want to think the best of people, then things like this happen. But hey, my daughter learned a good lesson - that life is not fair and sometimes people don't treat you right. It's okay though, she found a job the following week at a much better place, and I am very proud of her. I have never eaten at a Cook Out, and unfortunately, never will. Just thought I'd share my thoughts. Treat people right Cook Out. That is all I ask. Cheers. read more
