What-Not-A-Burger as they are only open on weekdays and close at 7:00pm. I drove here on Saturday because, at least on Yelp and maps they appeared open, but alas they are only open bankers hours. Well, actually banks are open at least until 1:00 on Saturdays. I then drove to the other location in town, again listed as open, and they are completely out of business. I had wanted to try them but based on the evidence thus far, there isn't much demand. I guess I'm not missing much. read more

Nice people, greeted when you walk in. Old school music playing in the background. Has an old diner vibe. The free smells will get you ordering a combo. The fries are perfect. Cheeseburger was bangin. I don't come by here often but it's always a good choice when I do. My coworker always gets the bologna burger and he loves it. Burger is about six bucks for a single. Fries are crispy on the outside and tender hot inside. Juicy hand formed burgers cooked and flipped on a flat iron grill. Thick diced onions you'll scoop up and eat when they fall on the wrapping paper. The name is suspect and the place isn't much to look at but it's clean and designed for the purpose - provide you a seat and table to enjoy your greasy spoon goodness. You'll have to spot it or know what your looking for based on the location and plain design of the building or else you pass right on by. It shares the space with some other light commercial businesses and is first on a side street off the main road. Not much else right around it so parking isn't a problem. Lunch is their main focus but they also have breakfast items on the menu. read more

I have been coming to What-A-Burger since I was a child. Definitely nostalgic for me when I visit. The location moved sometime in recent years, but still serving yummy food, and the new place is more fancy! I can only speak for the cheeseburger and fries. Both are big quantities and delish. You can choose what you want on your burger, but the standard toppings are lettuce, tomato, chopped onions, and mustard - to me, that's the perfect combo! Unfortunately, I forgot to take picture of my food because I devoured it! Lol But will upload next time. I did get a couple pictures of inside the restaurant. Hope this place never closes! read more

Chose this over typical fast food and was very pleased. Kids loved too. Their burgers are big in diameter.

NO ONE WEARING MASKS. To top it off, my husband and I even saw a worker sneeze into his tissue and didn't see him wash or even sanitize his hands. Got the "Whataburger" burger and it tasted like it had no seasoning. Patty is paper thin. Onion rings were really greasy. read more

They make your food to order. They have nice people that work there and I really like the Turkey Burgers.

Great burgers and dogs at a reasonable cost. Employees seem happy to be there. Burgers remind me of Sonic (in a good way), but dogs were all on their own. Huge and grilled! Husband said chili was delicious. We will return! read more

Had a what a burger off the boulevard in colonial heights years ago. Hoping this would be like that one. Was I wrong. Went in asked cashier if burgers were fresh or frozen. He didn't know. OK that should had been a sign. Ordered 2 double meat cheeseburger combos and a side of onion rings. Got the food looked like a flat pancake. Everything else was burnt, fries and onion rings. Spent 34.00 on all this now. Went back in and asked for refund. Oh I forgot to bring the drinks back in. If ya go. Just hope you like to spend alot of money for nothing. If I could give more stars I would. Passing through on our way for NC to NY, we were looking for a quick bite to eat. Thank goodness the BBQ spot across the street was closed, that's where we're headed when we stumbled across this gem. The burgers are amazing. Made on a flat top grill and accompanied by fresh veggies and sautéed onions, they were done just right and placed on an absolutely delicious roll with just the right texture and weight to it. It's obvious a lot of thought went into each component, resulting in a burger that rivals, maybe even tops shake shack or five guys. The fries were perfect, hand cut and the perfect consistency.. Crispy on the outside and mashed potato-y on the inside. The best part of the meal had to be the service. We were greeted with a smile by everyone working, and the manager was extremely personable and helpful. We'll definitely make it a point to stop in any time we're in the area, it's probably a good thing for my waistline that it's a 6 hour ride from our place!! read more

I went to this location recently to get what I thought to be a What-A-Burger. It was a huge disappointment! I remember years ago there was a location on Jefferson Davis that provided a thick, large and real hamburger with a slice of onion. The bun covered the burger and didn't fall apart. The burger from this location had no taste of a hamburger, no sliced onion (only chopped) and the bun was too big for the processed meat or whatever it was. Worse meal ever. The flavor of the burger was great. The one stars is because they are lazy a decided to set up buns with lettuce and tomatoes already on them sitting waiting for an order. (No kidding like 10 or 15 burger buns) Which does what? Makes the bun soggy which is nasty and ruins the consistency of what could've been a decent burger. If you're trying to beat the lunch rush or whatever your excuse is, stop and think about the quality instead of the quantity because actions like this will push customers away. read more

I consider myself a burger connoisseur. I've traveled to a lot of burger joints across the country and till this day they have the best. It's something about cooking on a flat top grill that just makes the burger. They also have great milk shakes and thick cut fries. The eating area inside is pretty small along with a few tables outside. There's no alcohol, but no big deal. If you're in the area, this is the place to stop for a burger for a decent price. read more

Great dive! It shares it's name with a chain out west, but it stands alone on its own. The burgers and phillys are big, flavorful and juicy. They do have limited toppings. I wish they had grilled jalapeños, mushrooms, etc. There's usually a long wait in line and then another to get your food. So if you want fast food, go somewhere else. The fries are good, cooked to perfection and the oil is changed often. The mustard is strong, so be careful if you ask for it in your burger. They have an awesome variety of milkshake flavors too. read more

We're from Texas and learned of the historical relationship of this regional chain to the Whataburger chain in TX. The burgers seemed very comparable, customer service was very good, and this newer location was very clean. We'll be back (no drive-thru though). And, they have Dr Pepper (not Pibb). read more
