Being from Rhode Island, there is great Italian on pretty much every corner. Lancaster, well....not so much. My kid wanted some chicken parm or something of like and when I went to Yelp to find a place to get it, I was in shock at the limited options. I've eaten at Carrabbas before in FL and knew it was ok. I don't generally enjoy chains and look for more "mom and pop" type places. Sad that they don't make all their own pasta now, but it still comes out very much edible. No reservations on a Sunday night around 5 and we were able to walk right in. Service was prompt and they checked back at reasonable intervals. I think one of our servers was training as you could tell she was a little inexperienced but she was smiling and polite and her trainer was clearly a pro. I had a smoked old fashioned and the waiter smoked it tableside; which was a nice touch. It was flavorful, elegant and not watered down. Kid had the chicken parm and made it disappear quickly along with the mashed potatoes. I had the sirloin and it was cooked perfectly. The sides were tasty and portions were spot on. I also like that they put the calorie counts on the menu. I don't have one single complaint about our meal here and am surprised to see such a low yelp score. Must be hit or miss here because I would not hesitate to go back based on my experience. read more

So, let's get it over with. We have a gap in decent Italian in Lancaster. We have one high end full of itself overpriced place. And we have some pizza joints so Carrabba's has a niche. One of my favorite spots when im in Lancaster PA. I enjoyed the blackberry sangria. Of course cannot get enough of the dipping oil with spices and warm bread to dip in it. Our server Nikki is the absolute best!! I'd go there just for her. She's amazing and makes the restaurant even better! So disappointed in my take out order!! Spent $150 on dinner, and it was awful. The portions for all the entrées were so small. The zucchini fries appetizer was cold and soggy, and also had like 10 tiny fries in it total, for $12!!! What a joke . The chicken Parm and the eggplant Parm both had burnt cheese and barely any sauce at all. Unfortunately, I will not be getting taken out from here ever again. Very disappointing meal. read more

I normally love this place. As a matter of fact, it is very disappointing that we don't have one in York. Our service was good...albeit the waiter might have had too many tables...but is everywhere. My Sausage Lentil Soup was hot and delicious. The disppointment was that my Lasagne was barely lukewarm...kind of ruins the idea that it was fresh made when you realize it was nuked. The taste was delicious, but I will never send food back bc I have heard stories of it being spit in, etc. Just NO... loved the fresh bread, olive oil and spices. Ate mostly that and bought my Lasagna home to re-heat. For the prices, my Lasagna should have been hot. So we were in OC MD, again for Thanksgiving. We went the previous year as well and were not pleased with the service or Food, However I Must Say that this Year was quite different, we made Reservations and arrived a few minutes early and were seated within our reservation time, our Waitress and Server's were very cordial and attentive. I have been to a few carabbas and for some reason I keep coming back with hopes they would get better but it has finally hit me, this is the best they can do. 4 down and not one of them made me say Wow. The calamari was dry and too salty, the salad was just lettuce and dressing, the salmon was over cooked and way to much sauce, made the dish not all that good. Mashed potatoes were good. The most impressive thing I enjoyed was the blackberry sangria, very tasty. The restaurant needs a good dusting as there was dust and cobwebs everywhere. The floors even needed a good cleaning. At a few minutes after noon, the place was not at all busy, so staff should not have had any excuses for the missteps. My husband and I both ordered grilled chicken, the chef had the flames eye level off the grill, when we received our entrees the meat had a black wet look to the meat, with the taste of propane...from our seats behind the hostess desk we could hear the conversation of the chef and several other wait staff complaining about the work situation they were not happy about. 6 of us girls went for lunch this week. All if us opted for the lunch trio. We chose soup, salad and a "small plate." I think our servers name was Ashley. She has to be one of the best waitresses you'll ever have. The soup was their Italian chicken soup. Nice sized and simply yummy. Ashley was right there with freshly grated cheese for the soup, the salad or your small plate. I got the meatballs with ricotta for my small plate. Just delish. Only hiccup was they were not hot. No problem, they were happy to heat them. She accommodated those who requested taking out part of their trio. Again, Ashley was happy to bring bring boxes. Everything was lovely and all 6 of us loved it. One friend ordered this ridiculously decadent chocolate bread pudding with ice cream. Everyone got a spoon to give it a try. Warm and killer good. I visited the location with two friends for lunch. The hostess immediately sat us at a table. We sat for a half and no one acknowledged us. Waiters and waitresses kept walking by us and not once asked if we wanted water or drinks. Other patrons were waited on. We finally got up and left. Before leaving we let the hostess know of the horrible treatment. We went next door to Outback and was immediately served and waited on. When you walk in it looks fancy but feels like a waffle house. I got a steak medium rare, but they cooked it well done so the had to make a new one but cooked the new one more rare. Food on the chairs and greasy tabled and air. I could smell all the potatoes and oil in the the air. scared the ceiling was gonna drip oil. gum under the table and on chair. Then I asked for water and there was a a diced onion in my water. My waiter Karen had no socks and I could see her greasy dogs out and I said put them dogs away to which she replied do you want someone garlic and lifted up her feet. Then she try ran away and because of the greasy floors she fell and I could here her back Crack and she said I fallen and I can't get up. Warning, this might be long. Arrived at 4:30. 98% of the place was empty. Handful of people seated at the front, waiting on hostess. I walk to the hostess stand, and the hostess did not bother to say, "Hello, welcome to Carrabbas" - Didn't bother to even say "Hi" or "just a minute." She stared at me like a deer in the headlights. She had to have been new. Didn't have the first clue about anything. She finally makes eye contact and says, "I'll be right back." Again, no hello, no welcome, no "thank you for coming." She's gone about 4 minutes. Finally returns and says "how many?" I said 3. Then she announces the name of another family and says, "right this way" - didn't tell me, "one moment please" - fine. Meanwhile, after we finally get seated - our waitress greeted us. Her name was Teresea, and she is a teacher. Today was her last day of school and we learned she has 4 boys. We explained that our kids work in restaurants and we appreciate what she does. We are fully aware of how a place can be short staffed, how expo might not show up, or how one person is juggling multiple responsibilities. We get it. We always tip 20% minimum. Frequently 50% and in some cases, we tip a full 100% - like for a teacher, or a single mom. It takes incredibly poor service not to get a good tip from us. At the end of the day, we gave a 15% tip. Which was our way of saying "we did not enjoy this experience." That was the first time in 5 years that we have tipped less than 20%. She spent 4-5 minutes at customers tables. I needed a drink refill and was looking for her - she was SITTING in the booth next to ours. SITTING. Just chatting it up with the customers. While I can't eat my food - because I don't have a beverage refilled. She finally comes back and says "oh, did they bring your refill?" She could clearly see that they had not. She asked if we wanted more bread, we said yes. She never brought it. The glasses are so full of ice that there is barely much liquid in them. I ran out of my 2nd drink and was waiting for a refill. Waited, waited...by the time she circled back to us, I gave up eating. Didn't want to finish my meal at that point, and she could tell something was wrong, because she asked. But why tell her how disappointed I was that it had been over 10 minutes since I had my last sip and I couldn't finish eating my meal. Just wanted to get out of there. At 4:30, we should have been in and out within an hour. We've been there many times at that same time - with no issue and excellent service. But because she chatted it up so long with each table, even SITTING to chat with customers, it took extraordinarily long. After she finally picked up our credit card - she stopped at 3 more tables - not because they flagged her down - she just stopped - instead of processing us quickly and getting us on our way. One nice thing - free dessert because we were celebrating something. That was appreciated. But oh my goodness - soon as we got in the car - all 3 of us had the exact same things to say about her. She was positioned to get a 50-100% tip because she is a teacher. But we just couldn't. We were really upset at how long she took. And remember - when we arrived - the restaurant was practically empty. One last thing - she asked us to scan an app to give her a 5 star review, because her boss was having a competition. My son scanned it - and gave her the 5 star review - even though we all knew she did not offer 5 star service. Then she had the audacity to come back and ask if he really gave her a review - she wanted to see his phone, and wanted to take a picture of it. As long as this review is - I could have written even more. As for the food - it was okay, the wood fired chicken didn't have the same flavor and there was hardly any shrimp in my husbands meal that included shrimp with the pasta. We've been several times lately - but it will be a very long time before we return - thanks to Teresa. If she sees this, maybe she will learn not to chat so long at each table, bring a refill even if it's not asked for so that the customer isn't dying for a drink to go with their food. I wasted half my salad because I had nothing to drink. And when you offer to bring bread, bring it. And when you take the credit card - please process it - don't be stopping at every table unless that customer actually stopped you with a question. Just an absolutely horrible experience. And again, we love wait staff, we appreciate them, but this time....nope. One thing, two things, 3 things...but it was just too much to overlook. read more
