Rewind time? I'd steer clear of Carrolls for our flooring project as first-time homeowners and a veteran. Here's the rundown of this fiasco: 1. Tyrza's "Charm": Imagine interrupting a sulky teen's Snapchat session - that was every call with Tyrza. Her enthusiasm was as visible as a ghost. 2. The Quoting Quagmire: James played the no "nickel and diming" tune with a side of a veteran discount. Then, "Oops, missed a room!" That little oversight cost us an unexpected $420. Talk about attention to detail. 3. James' "Dad" Vibes: James' lectures included gems like "This isn't an insult but if you think you come off like a nice guy you don't," plus a reminder that "you were given the level of respect you showed us." He even pulled the "I'm old enough to be your dad" card. Because that's relevant how? 4. Baseboard Comedy Show: Post-flooring, the baseboards were propped up against walls like they were on a break. Apparently, putting them back is a service, not a courtesy. 5. Impromptu Board Replacements: Without so much as a by-your-leave, they replaced boards on the first floor and slapped on an additional ~$1600 bill for their silent service. 6. The Great Baseboard Hunt: They claimed the first-floor baseboards had vanished. Spoiler: They were enjoying a rain dance outside. 7. Wall Décor by Carrolls: New wall art includes stains and handprints, courtesy of the team. It's like living in a toddler's canvas. 8. Veneer Vanishing Act: Oh, and the veneer on the stairs? Broken. They promised to replace it, but that turned out to be yet another empty promise. 9. Flooring Fiasco: And the encore? The floors are already splitting in areas post-refinish. Contrary to that of previous reviewers, our experience with Carrolls Hardwood Flooring was dismal and shocking. We contracted to have all the rooms in our house sanded and refinished. James, the head man, sent Dave to provide color samples. He did so in one side room. When we asked for an additional sample on a different floor that covered half the area to be refinished -- a request that our decorator deemed thoroughly reasonable -- James abruptly recalled Dave, sent word, followed by a couple of rude emails, that Carrolls din't do samples for every room, and without further explanation quit the job. It was the most uncivil and unprofessional encounter we have ever experienced with a service provider. read more

We used Carroll's Flooring on the advice of a friend. It turned out to be a great tip. We had dark oak parquet flooring that desperately needed help. James came out promptly and suggested a course of action that worked out great for us. We had the luxury of moving out during the work but I felt comfortable leaving Dave and his crew in charge. Dave patiently explained what was going to be done and did several color samples for us to choose from. There was a considerable amount of repair work that needed to be done and it is indistinguishable from the existing flooring. The job was done on time, our house was left in good condition and the guys were exceptionally polite and congenial. Communication was excellent. We discovered the original oak floor (1958) in our home and set out to find a great company to add to it and refinish it. Out of the 6 companies I thoroughly researched and from whom I requested bids, Carroll's Hardware quickly rose to the top. James was first to respond to my call, first to provide a bid, and the most innovative and helpful person to visit and bid on the job. I was also encouraged by his enthusiasm about the possibilities for our old floor. James' bid was competitive and he was clear about what we were to expect. We had a leak in a bathroom pipe that buckled part of our hardwood floor as well as our old house some some areas of termite damage to our hardwood floor. Carroll's fixed all the damage and refinished all the flooring such that it looked like new. In addition part of the repairs from the leaking pipe required removal of the baseboard in the room. Carroll's recommended another supplier who fixed that at the same time. Overall great service, very dependable, would not hesitate to have them back for more work in the future.
