I have a busy schedule and having my car out of order was stressful so having an appointment available with a trusted shop gave me relief. The day of my appointment I came in and met Evelyn who is FANTASTIC! The technicians, Evelyn, and (I believe) Steve were all friendly, communicative, and transparent. Taking my car into the shop can be intimidating but Evelyn was so friendly and kind, I felt totally confident the crew would take care of me and my car. They thoroughly tested my car after making repairs to be certain there weren't any outstanding issues. Bought a car from their dealership on 12/10. On 12/11 it began having issues. After 10 days of calling and trying to leave voicemails, the auto repair facility mail box is always full and no one answers, I finally got an appointment to have it looked at. After another week I got it to them. A week later with no contact from them, I called and found out what they said the issues are, I talked to my wife, tried to call back to approve work, and low and behold no one answers and voicemail is full again for another week. Now, 2 months in to this and they BROKE my Jeep. I drove it to them and it started fine until I gave it to this place. Now, there are issues with its ignition. Called to find out what those issues are and why they've had my car for over a month with out one call from them to tell us what's going on. The person on the phone got very aggressive when he realized I knew a few things about car repair and started arguing about who they've talked to and how many times they've called. Pretty standard deflection defense when the person knows they are a scammer and a scum bag. So, I will be going up there on Monday, the 27th. I will be bringing paper work and probably my lawyer. I hope you guys know a thing or two about contract law and fraudulent warranty laws. This is going to get really bad when the lawyers start going through all your files. I assure you, we will find many discrepancies in your work and contracts that you may all lose your certifications, if you even have any, and, if I play this long enough, we will shut this service department down for good. No more shady unqualified auto mechanics duct taping things together and ripping people off. read more

We decided to try out Carson Cars Auto Repair when our Ford Explorer was having issues because it's a local business and their quote for work was significantly less than Ford's quote for the same work. The car overheated shortly after we figured out that the heater was working sporadically. There are a few reasons this business was five stars: 1. They communicated with us throughout the process: cost, likely issues, risks, timeline. 2. They billed us less than the quote on everything. In fact they billed us significantly less than their quote as well as the ford dealer's quote (where we towed the car when it overheated) for the same repairs. 3. Service was prompt and they did everything they said they'd do. They treated my wife with respect and didn't treat her differently because she was female (her dad managed mechanics many years so she'd have called BS if they or anyone else tried to "snow" her). I can honestly say that I will bring all of my vehicles here for service and repairs in the future. They have earned our business with their honest and customer-focused service. Thank You Barry and Rudy! My car had started making a horrible power steering noise. I took it to the dealer and was quoted $2200 to replace the power steering rack and flush the system. A friend suggested a smaller independent shop so I looked at some reviews and called Carson Car Repairs. Barry said they would hang a bit later than usual because I wasn't off work until a half hour before they closed. I went after work, and amazingly, instead of waiting for the diagnosis, Barry gave me a loaner car for free. Once I gave him my insurance card and a couple signatures I was headed home. Crazy thing happened next day. I had told him that the steering rack needed to be replaced and I could not pay the heavy cost of having it done at the dealer. He originally told me it wouldn't be done until monday (3 days), but Rudy the assistant manager called the following morning (Saturday) to give me some updated info. They had found a bad o-ring in the power steering pump and air was getting into the system. The steering rack also had a small leak (which I knew) but was repairable. They could replace the power steering inlet o-ring, fix the leak on the rack, flush the entire system, AND it would be ready in a few hours!! Instead of a $2200 fix, being without my car for several days, and knowing now that the problem of the o-ring in the pump would've still been the problem, my car was going to be fixed for less than $300!!! He said to pick the car up around 2. The bill was 15 percent of what I originally planned, the car was ready when I got there, he told me not to worry about the little bit of gas I used in the loaner car, and Rudy was really cool and was happy to have found a less expensive problem for me. I will definitely be going back to Carson Car Repairs! They really showed heart and consideration, and honesty you can't find too easily in business anymore. read more

These people will make you wait 3 weeks to get into their shop, JUST to let you know your 90 day warranty had just expired about 2 weeks earlier, even though you let them know it was having issues early mid October and had told them to call you in ASAP for service. Now They have just had it sitting in their shop for almost 2 weeks now and haven't even said what the main problem for sure is or even when it will be ready for pick up. I called 10/22 for immediate engine problems and they said the soonest they could do was 11/18 and I was extremely hesitant because of this and so I let them know and they said it would be "all taken care of, don't worry your still under your 90 day warranty. Sometimes people can't make their appointments so I'll definitely put you at the top of the list incase that does happen we can get you in sooner " I feel devastated and at a loss of what to do. I could of gone to another mechanic they could of referred me to another mechanic. But now I'm completely fucked because of this whole situation. They've been roping me around for 2 weeks tomorrow I will be giving the manager a very happy call. read more

Got a standard oil change without an appointment, and it was completed quickly, in and out in less than an hour. The Yelp deal/coupon says $9.95 for this service, but be aware this is only the amount they discount off the price of the service, not the total price you pay for the service. The wording on the coupon makes you believe the latter so it was a surprise to me, but the original price before discount is reasonable to begin with compared to big chains like Jiffy Lube, so no harm done. read more

To the gentleman who was working at Carson Cars Auto Repair this past Friday, you are my hero. Friday morning I bought a used car from someone off of Craig's List. After I purchased the car and the guy left, I noticed... he took the license plates. I realized then why the slightly-torn-up license plate that had been sitting in the front window - was there, and why there was no back license plate at all. It was because half the screws were missing, broken off, or so badly rusted that they wouldn't budge at all. Try as I might with my own tools, I could NOT get anything to work to put on my own new license plates and I was getting really afraid of driving much further and risking getting pulled over. Having taken the car to a friend's house in the hopes that her husband might have better tools for the job, I was disappointed and frustrated when those tools also proved useless. Being extremely frustrated and stressed (divorce, new home, new car, etc. will do that to you) and being at the end of my quickly-fraying rope I decided to Google Maps search for repair places in the area. I found Carson Cars Auto Repair which was still open for another hour, and decided to try there. I know I'm terribly directionally-challenged and all, but even with my Google Maps app on my phone, I couldn't find the place. I wound up going to Carson Cars (sales) instead, and asking to be pointed in the right direction. I was told "drive down this road and it's going to be on the left. Look for the black and green pot-store sign. If you get to the RV's, you've gone too far." Silly as it might sound, as it turned out, those directions were exactly what I needed. I wasn't sure where exactly "the proper" place was to go to approach someone so I walked up to one of the bays and found someone who wasn't currently working on a vehicle and explained my situation. It took about five minutes, a couple of tools, 2 self-starting screws, and what looked like WD-40 and he got both of my license plates on my car. I was SO freaking thankful. I didn't know what I was going to do until this guy came along. When I asked him what I owed him for the help, he said "Nothing, just leave us a good review on Yelp". I said "That I will", and here I am! Thank you kind sir. You're my hero. And secondarily, the directions-giving guy too. read more

Go to a real mechanic! These guys are the ones who fix the car you bought from their dealership when, not if, but when it breaks down! They will gouge you for whatever you need done and suggest repairs that aren't necessary. They take forever and the communication is not good. I brought my '06 Ford Escape in a few weeks ago with the ABS/4x Drive lights flashing, the brakes were pumping as if I was driving on ice, and my 4x drive was turning itself off by default. I investigated the issue myself and learned it may be the tone ring that needs replacing- a $10 part at any auto supply shop, and a quick fix for my auto savvy father. Against his advice I brought my car into Carson's auto shop- where after an hour they told me it wasn't the part I'd told them, but a sensor that needed replacing. I was quoted $129 for "labor" and another $80 for the part. Knowing I purchased a warranty when I bought my car from David G., I asked if they'd just take it in and look at the cruise control & O/D (since both stopped working within a month of driving my car), and we could wrap it all into my $250 warranty deductible. With a little hesitation, and some confusion, they told me to bring my car back in 2 weeks and they'd provide a loaner while the issues were addressed. I brought my car in and was provided a "loaner" van- it was the most disgusting car I've ever been in, it was so dirty, wreaked like wet dog & cigarettes, and sounded like the hunk of junk it was. I got a call from Brandi 48 hours after they'd had my car, and was told that the original issue was indeed the tone ring, like I'd said, not the sensor. Ann's that they hadn't looked at my cruise control issue yet. Brandi asked if I'd like them to replace the ring, and I agreed- knowing the part was only $10, and there was still more work to be done. The next day Brandi calls to tell me that they haven't even looked at my cruise control yet- and that it's in fact not covered by the warranty I paid for. Mind you- she left this information out when I agreed to the tone ring replacement. So now I was looking at 3-4 days of "labor", and she claimed the part was $79 - I corrected her and told her I was well aware of the price of the part and would pay only that, and she quickly stuttered that she was "looking at the wrong thing", then offered to waive the additional "labor" she would have charged to look at the cruise control again if I wanted. I agreed to a diagnosis, nothing more. Fast forward to 2 days since that call, I receive another call from Brandi saying they'd still not looked or diagnosed any of the cruise control issues, and that my car needed to be picked up if I wanted to avoid the additional daily "loaner charge" from the van. She quoted me a total charge of $205+taxes totaling to over $250!!! They completely took advantage of me agreeing to let them complete the original issue, without ever mentioning that the entire time they KNEW my other issues weren't in my warranty coverage, and then Brandi had the audacity to tell me I should have looked at my warranty myself and would have known it wasn't covered!! So here I am wondering why 3 weeks ago they told me to bring my car back for a repair they didn't even diagnose correctly the first time I was there and why they'd offered to do all of this work under my "warranty deductible" umbrella when in fact they were well aware it wasn't covered, and HAD NEVER EVEN LOOKED INTO THE ISSUE WHILE MY CAR WAS UP IN THE AIR IN THEIR SHOP?!?!? I will NEVER do business with this scum of a company again- Brandi was beyond rude over the phone claiming her customer service was great since she called me every day.... Irregardless of the fact they they were completely screwing me over and didn't do any of the work I'd expected, or did the work in a manner that made them bullshit money, and left my car exactly how I gave it to them! I am returning to pick up my vehicle today and prepared to make quite the scene in both their repair shop & their sales office! Be warned. read more

The Story: My WRX finally hit the dust, and at a very inconvenient time, forcing me to turn my beat up old truck into my daily driver until I can purchase a new car. I already had an appointment set up with them, so maybe my luck wasn't so bad. They lifted the truck, brought me out, and showed me everything that was wrong with the it. Everything. They told me what was worth fixing and what wasn't, very refreshing. I didn't want them to fix everything, just ended up getting an oil change and a power steering flush to get me through to the weekend. I am mechanically savvy but my diagnostic skills are poor at best, and they really helped out on that front. They even told me that I would be okay without the power steering flush I asked for until the weekend when I could do it myself, but I figured I should pay them for something. The truck died the next day. Luckily Don, the mechanic who looked at my F150, told me that the idle issues that started the same day I brought it in were a result of one of two things, and gave me his best guess as to which it was. Instead of selling me an 85$ part (IAC Valve) with a 10% mark up and charging for a half hour or more of labor like I know some shops would, he instructed me how to clean it to see if I could get some more life out of it. The idling problem became a real issue on the way home, and the next day, the truck would not stay running. Cleaned the component as instructed for 5$, and now the old ford runs great. I could have found the information online, but the mechanics advice was accurate and saved me 30 minutes of reading on ford forums. Cons: It takes a long time to get an appointment at this place (luckily I was already on the books), and they were an hour late getting to my vehicle. I went up the road to a diner and got a meal, and came back to find they still hadn't had time to get my truck onto a lift yet. This is a very busy shop, but I can see why. I would advise to drop off your car and pick it up later if at all possible, but because I live in Seattle that would have not been a real option for me anyways. There isn't really a waiting room to speak of. 5 stars: They're advice and straightforward approach were much appreciated and more than made up for the wait. I will definitely use this service again if the need arises, and recommend it to anyone who has the time to wait for an appointment. I can't speak about their labor costs as I don't know what they are, but the quote to do my ball joints (which I will do myself as I have the proper tools) was 60$ less than I expected (my skills of estimation are usually better than my diagnostic abilities). They're parts estimate was also roughly what it will cost me to order the parts myself. I would highly recommend this place if you have an older vehicle!!!!! read more

I have been in on three separate occasions now, and each time, Jon and his team have gone above and beyond to make sure repairs are done efficiently and completely, and at very reasonable cost. Jessica set me up with a loaner car when repairs would have left me with no transportation for work. One of the technicians rode with me before I left my car so that I could be sure he was hearing the same noise I was concerned about, and he explained in detail what he thought the issue was. The owner, Mike, then took my car out for a test drive after the repairs were done to be sure there were no other concerns. I settled on a beautiful low mile Cadillac Seville sts touring. It broke down 3 times within the first week. But they came thru and fixed all my issues at house expense. The service an quality of work is outstanding. They just got a customer for life, you dont find this kind of American Hospitality anymore. I recently bought a car from Carson Cars, a wonderful experience, and was told if I had any issues to contact their repair department. I noticed a creaking sound in the front of my car. I called, picked the time that worked for me, and they were available. John Hathaway's knowledge of even small creaks in a certain style of a car lead him to the cause; an engine/frame support bar that the bolts were loose on. About 10 minutes later, I was back on the road, no charge, and creaks were gone! Not that I want my car to have any other issues, but if it does, that's where I will call first.
