I really dislike posting negative reviews my intention is to help service here improve. We have Stayed here before, that time we were kept up all night by partying drunks. Complained all weekend. Nothing done. This time stayed in room 102, AC broken, had to keep the windows and drapes open. In the early morning after my wife steps out of the shower, A maintenance worker enters the courtyard and is in front of my room window on the phone. He looks me directly in the eye and continues his phone call. No sorry, no hello, nothing. So rude I was shocked, and abruptly closed the curtains. There is an expectation of privacy when one stays at a hotel I believe. This sanctity was violated. I made a complaint with the front desk and was assured by Liz that management was looking into it and would contact me. Nothing, no one called. I then see that the casino has over charged me $500. for our stay. I called and got some convoluted excuse. To this date 05/30 no refund and no call back as promised by the manager Matt C. Very disappointing stay on Saturday night July 27th. Had booked and paid online for a smoking room (due to my husband vaping). Called early that morning to reserve a table in the steak house - told no reservations were available for that night. At check in time there was only one lady at the registration desk, a long wait till finally a man came to the desk too. We were by then next in line and went up to the man, he asked for our name, ID and a credit card, then went on to tell us no pets in the room and no smoking ! It was a smoking room when we went to it as it had 2 ashtrays in it, and as we didn't have a pet with us to me it was obvious we didn't need to be told no pets.(Looking at our reservation on his computer it would have shown it was a smoking room). Disappointing room as it was like an ice box and we actually had to turn the heat on to make the room bearable to be in at first. No bath tub (after an 8 hour drive all I wanted was to soak in a tub - but alas wasn't going to happen). Went to have dinner, passing the steak house at 10 past 6 we noticed so many empty tables and no one waiting in line ....uummm odd. The staff is always friendly and even with low Covid positive rates in the area, they make sure things are clean and masks are required. The rooms are starting to show their age, but everything is clean. One of my home town Facebook friends recently sent me a birthday greeting and asked me if I felt that my 5th decade was slipping away. Maybe one small reminder of that was having an early Birthday Dinner last night at the Carson Valley Inn between 4:30 - 5:30 PM for their "Early Bird" Special. In my world, that is so Midwest and so Senior Citizen. I'll admit that I rarely walk into any Casino, even in the "Twin Cities" of Minden and Gardnerville, where complexes such as the Carson Valley Inn have a more distinct community feel. Outside of nickel slots, I really don't enjoy bright and disorienting casino lights or stale cigarette smoke. Yet, the CV restaurant seemed to be located a world away from the nearby casino action, and it was kind of fun to watch the dressed up high school prom kids who were enjoying themselves in the conference area as we came in and later headed home. Gayle Mom suggested coming here and for $18 we got a choice of 5 entries, which also included salad (made at the table), broccoli, either rice or potato, and dessert. Now that's a heck of a deal! Doncha know? Between the 3 of us, we enjoyed 2 orders of salmon, 1 of sirloin steak, 3 huge stuffed or baked potatoes, and 3 Kahlua lava cakes for dessert. It was all very tasty, and complimented with a bottle of wine for the table, lots of water, and coffee at the end. Service from beginning to end was also friendly and fabulous as were my dates. We all left happily stuffed and with leftovers. Gayle's Mom mentioned that this place is a cut above (including white table cloths), and for this very special Birthday Dinner, I agree. read more

We stopped in this casino twice today. Once in the morning where we found ourselves entertained by lots of slot machines and terrific drink service. We found ourselves sitting on a couple machines that just kept winning (even though we were placing very small bets, and winning small amounts, it was so much fun!) Everyone that we encountered in the staff was very friendly, from the ladies at the desk for new playe's cards, to the floor manager, Jessica. We felt very welcomed! Perhaps because it is a holiday weekend they had a lot of promotions going on. People playing a slot machine with their player's card were randomly called for a free $100 cash. And we returned to the casino at 3:00 for a drawing where 3 people won different prizes between $100 and $1,000. Even though we didn't win, it was exciting. And I'm glad we went back to the casino. Kind of thinking about going back again tonight, but that might be overkill. Better save some of our good luck for tomorrow. read more

I had so much fun here. This hotel is super cute and a great place to stop by if your looking to gamble and eat for a great price. The casino has a good selection of machines. The steak house is phenomenal. The pool is beautiful. Has a design at the bottom of the pool that shows the whole state of Nevada. The spa area is nice too, basically like a sauna. This area is located on the second floor. Definitely recommend this hotel to anyone stopping in the area. read more

Surprisingly good food for what seems like a fancy diner. Plexiglas dividers at head level make for a safer experience. The New York steak was really good. It wasn't a flattened out diner style steak but a very tasty and grill marked steak. Mash potatoes and veggies completed the offing. We recently held a retiree work reunion here. The staff at this hotel are amazing, everyone was friendly, patient and helpful. Bellman Michael was exceptionally friendly and kind, probably one of the nicest employees at the hotel in my opinion. During checkout I had the pleasure of being served by Liza, she was very friendly completely reviewing my bill. * The hotel has very comfortable beds, I always smell the towels to see if they are fresh or musty smelling, these smelled fresh. I was disappointed in the room vacuuming as there were dust bunnies under the desk area and I did find two unknown pills/tablets on the floor which can be dangerous to children. The coffee machines need to be regularly cleaned, I always use a Keurig cleaning pod and this one was not as clean as it should be, yes, its extra work for the staff, but a guest is consuming the product that comes out of it. We used a ballroom/conference room for our function, the room was very nice, the hotel staff that worked our function were all very friendly. Those we interacted with during set up were very helpful and took care with our displays and our personal items, the staff greeting guests when offering coffee or while working at the bar, everyone had a smile. The food provided for our function was OUTSTANDING, probably the best event food I have ever had. Everything was fresh & tasty; the display of food was very appealing to the eye. We had a choice of salmon, chicken or sliced steak--all were the right temperature and correct seasoning, I tried the salmon and steak--outstanding! The salads were cold and refreshing, the fruit tray was also refreshing and cool. The cheese and cracker platter was very nicely arranged and tasty selection of cheeses and crackers, not the run of the mill saltines or round butter crackers. We had a variety of cheesecake for dessert, very good! The staff was respectful of our program and presentation being discreet in collection of plates and offering refills on coffee. If you are having an event I recommend this hotel, if you are simply travelling and need a nice place to stay, I recommend this hotel. WE will be back! read more

The staff told us "well the room wasn't supposed to be ready until 3. We didn't arrive until 320 pm and still no room at the time of this review. Not only do they have a wonderful new outdoor venue for concerts, a terrific 24 hour restaurant, an exceptional steakhouse, a go to sportsbook for all the games, but the service and value can't be beat. This is such a little gem I didn't know about. If you are in South Lake Tahoe, you simply go on the 207 for 25 minutes and its just down the hill. The staff here are nice. Customers are mostly locals and retirees. You won't find your twenty something people here, guess that could be a good thing. They have everything here: A pool, jacuzzi, small workout room, free wifi internet access, diner, coffee shop, small sports book, a music lounge, and comfy beds. The room is clean and the bathroom is spacious. There are some wall paper inside the bathroom that looks a bit dated and they have odd looking prints like jack-asses inside the bathrooms. I just don't get it, maybe its just me. The casino does have quite a bit of slot machines and gaming tables. It was one of the few places I saw single deck 21s. Where can you find those nowadays? The only thing I would hope they improve on is the air circulation. Smokers do light up here and the air does not seem to be lifted away from the casino floor. Rooms here with tax for a Saturday for us will fall just short of $90 with AAA discount. If you can't find lodging at decent prices on Hwy 50, do come here and enjoy a good night rest. read more

Well I'll tell ya, hubby and I went this morning for breakfast and gambling. We had a nice breakfast in Katie's country kitchen. Hubby had chicken fried steak. He has that a lot and he said this was really good. I had french toast and it too was good. The waiter was great. Attentive and accurate. The gambling was good too, I lost but hubby won a little. Enough to cover my losses! At this point I would have said 5 stars! Then we went back...... Decided breakfast was so good we would go back for dinner. The waitress looked and acted as though she wanted to be anywhere but Katie's Country Kitchen. We ordered an appetizer, and dinner. We got salad with dinner. She brought the appetizer and that was fine. Few min later our dinner. My husband said, dont we get salad? Oh yes she said. I thought she will go get it and bring it right back. NOOOO we were almost done with our dinner! The dinner was not great. We both had roast turkey dinner. Well it was pressed turkey I believe. Mashed potatoes were runny. So that was a disappointment as well as the late salad. We really didn't want it but hey we were paying for it. The gambling was ok in the evening about the same. So that was fine but a machine I was playing pretty much went down. Screen went black etc. Took a good 15 min to get anyone over there, and another 30 to fix it. We are still in the area for a few days but I dont think we will go back. read more

Did not stay at the Inn nor did we use the casino or any of the restaurants. My review is solely based on our experience staying at the RV park. When looking at their website it looked like the campground would be a lot greener and park-like than it is in real life. However, the facility is very clean and well maintained with full hook-ups, free WiFi, and cable TV. The personnel at the front desk was friendly and they had no problem that we cancelled two nights of stay that we had pre-booked. read more

First trip to CVI, with my friend who's a regular there so we had a comp room. Everyone was very friendly, from the front desk, to guest services, cocktail servers, Matthew and Crystal especially. Played for hours, hit a few jackpots, I'm a low roller though, nickel draw poker, unfortunately no royal flush, but hopefully next time. My friend won a lot, but donated it back, ha. Room was clean, nice big bathroom/shower. The steak house was everything I hoped for. Service, Noah and I think Nick took care of us, and my filet mignon was like butter, so flavorful, and a football size baked tater loaded, so good! The 24 hr. coffee shop was ok. Salad and loaded potato soup was great, but the French dip was meh. Grisly roast beef. The positives far outweighed the one negative, but hopefully will be back soon! read more

This place is fun - its both a local's place plus a vacationer/gambler spot. The hotel and casino has gone through some major renovation over the past 2 years and their attention to detail shows. Katies, which is open 24 hours, has specials and great prices every day of the week. The service is nice; portions are large. They also have a fine dining restaurant - (basically next door to Katies) with nightly hours. They also hae Jobs Peak which is a small place to buy munchies, coffee, light breakfast and lunch goodies, and more. The rooms are nice size. The renovated rooms are the nicest.. There is a swimming pool (open when we there 6 am till midnight which is great.) There is also some hot tubs there. Both are indoors so you can enjoy them year round. Gambling is fun - Poker room, slot machines, table games, and more. They have special events like ladies night. Besides just getting points when gaming, the casino also does monthly mailing to club members with special offers such as room. food and free play (the specific offers depends on your level of play.) Its a short drive from here to South Lake Tahoe. For casino action in the SLT, this place usually is more lively and fun now than the SLT area in my humble opinion. There is often live music, etc. Age tends to be more mid age on up, but on week-ends there is more younger people as well. Easy to get a free drink if you are playing. Service is friendly and nice - and they come by and ask if you want another. They are especially attentive if you give them a tip when ordering. In short, its a fun locals casino to go for those in the area. For those with an RV, there is also an RV trailer park on site. There is also a Shell gas station and small store at the gas station. read more

Me and my wife actually love to come to the CVI. It's a good get away and very close to Tahoe. But we're a little disappointed this time around. We just had a meal at their Katie's cafe and had a very disappointing lunch with so-so service. We went back to our room in hopes to rent a movie on- demand and it's $20 a movie!! I have never seen movies that expensive!! The room still kind of smells of smoke as well. We will come back here because not every experience has been this bad. The pool here is amazing, the staff is great and it's a very convenient place to stay. If you've never been here, give it a chance. Especially if you love to get to Tahoe. Ate at Katies. Poor food quality. Menu says " fresh fruit." Fruit was warm, brown and soggy. After sending it back and receiving the same quality fruit the waitress admitted that the fruit was not fresh and it came already cut. My husband and I travel often and CVI has always been one of favorite places to stop at until these last two visits and this last one was the worst. We ate at Katie's and our server was Anna. We both ordered the same hamburger and when we got our meal we noticed a egg on our hamburgers and immediately called Anna over and told her the order was wrong, she quickly replied no it's not wrong that's what you ordered. We started eating thinking maybe we had read the menu wrong and my husband remembered there was not a egg on the hamburger we ordered. I looked up the menu on my phone and verified the hamburger on the menu does not have a egg on it, we stopped eating and asked for a manager. Anna and another younger girl looked at the menu and said we where wrong that it should say egg but it doesn't and basically to bad. They did not apologize and where very rude to us, it was horrible. The staff at CVI could not have been more friendly or helpful!! I was so impressed by their genuine concern for my sister and I.
