We had to change out our license plate on our car after 8 years. When my husband tried to remove the bolts one was stuck and stripped. Carstar got us in right when they opened on Monday morning, after 30 minutes they were successful and even replaced the rivet that was damaged. If I could give 0 stars I would. Absolutely a horrible experience. DANGEROUS actually. Please do NOT take your car here for any type of repairs if you want your car fixed completely and correctly. After the run around of "it be done net Friday, oh next Friday, oh next Friday" They replaced the R and L axles/front end, put the old brakes on the car that were included in the accident. When we drove the car home the car was unable to go over 60 because it was shaking so bad. Then I was told by John, "Oh in meant to tell you the brakes were bad" and you need to get those fixed. When I asked if the car was safe to drive he said well, "it shakes very bad" and they let us leave with an unsafe car and stood behind "I really meant to tell you" The whole process has been an nightmare. This is a case where taking out the Karen wig and putting it on is warranted. I feel very resentful of having to come back today and have them finish the job they half-xxxxx. My family situation is very bad and today is a day I could have spent with my family. I have been robbed of my day off and robbed of time with my family where I could have been helping them. My family has been robbed of some respite as well. We have been violated. And Carstar Olathe is to blame. I hit a couple of large dogs on the freeway back in December. My 2016 prius's front end got smashed up but it seemed as if it was just the bumper, grill and plastic. It was still driveable and the damage seemed to be merely cosmetic. We arranged to get an estimate from Carstar through our Allstate insurance. I brought it in myself, a female who knows nothing about cars or auto bodies. Someone who has been preyed upon by auto mechanics and car service people as a result of this over the years. The estimate was about $1800 which I thought sounded pretty low, but like I said, what do I know about cars? Nothing. They are supposed to know. And they were supposed to FIX IT. There was pieces VERY OBVIOUSLY hanging down in the front scraping while driving at the time they did the estimate, along with the front end-damage. The plastic lining the wheel wells in the front was damaged as well, coming loose piece by piece over the weeks of driving it after the accident. Well, when we picked it up from being "fixed," after waiting super long to have it fixed, the front still had jumbled plastic hanging down underneath, looking weird. And no plastic liner for the wheel wells. Luckily my boyfriend noticed when we picked it up and pointed this out to them, they said they had to order the plastic and we had to bring it back to be fixed. Carstar, I HATE YOU for ROBBING me of my time today. We bring it back today, they said it would take 20 minutes. We been here 1.5 hours. And it's still not fixed, they brought it back up and there's still pieces poking out underneath. We point it out. They said they have to order more parts and we have to bring it back. Again. I am SO TIRED of people doing this to me. If you bring your car to be fixed here, expect your time to be wasted and expect it to be half-xxxxxx. Luckily we paid nothing because we have $0 deductible, but if you have a deductible or are paying out of pocket, you may be paying for stuff you aren't getting. Maybe if you are lucky enough to have someone who knows about cars. Have them look at it before you take it to carstar for your estimate. Or anywhere for that matter because everyone sucks. Either they are idiots or they are wolves looking for prey. I am a nurse and I do not have the luxury of half-xxxxxxx things. If I half-xxx something, serious injury or death could be the result. I guess at car-star, the workers job isn't life and death like mine is. But you never know, this is a vehicle that drives down the road and a problem with parts could cause an accident. Please carstar people, don't ever become nurses. Imagine if I had a patient with a BP of 210/130, and I half-xxx the job. What if I delay reporting it to the Dr. (or don't report it at all). What if I skip re-checking the bitals? And how about if the doctor prescribes hydralazine but I neglect to finish the job and don't give it to the patient? How bout I wait till later? Do not take your car to the Olathe Carstar. Left car after an accident for a simple quote. Could not get an update or returned calls. After 3 weeks we called to tell them we were frustrated with their poor service and we were coming to pick up the car. I had the worst experience with CarStar in Olathe. After a relatively minor accident which they told me would take three weeks to repair, the 3 weeks became 8 weeks, then 12 weeks, until finally after 8 1/2 months. I had to find parts myself, as they told me that there were none in the United States, and that in fact, they were no longer making the part. I found one of the parts in a matter of about 20 minutes at a shop in Boston, and had it shipped to me. When I asked Steven at CarStar if that was usual that customers had to find their own parts, he told me that he didn't have time to call every shop in the US to find parts. My calls were rarely returned. My car sat outside on their lot for the entire 8 1/2 months. When I went by to pick up some things, the hood was open, and it looked like a junk yard back there. When I got in to retrieve my items, my $5 worth of quarters were all gone. What a nightmare. Will never go there again. When I finally picked it up, it was sort of clean, like they ran it through a carwash, but did not dry it and did not clean any of the windows or mirrors. Not like I would have expected that after the nightmare of the last 8 1/2 months. read more

Insurance company recommended after we had someone run into us. Took them two weeks longer than quoted. When to get it finally and back hatch wouldn't close right. Took it back so they could fix it the next day. Got it back and daughter took it on a trip. Transmission cooler line blew out on highway. I had to take off work to go get her. Got there and saw that they didn't put clamps on either cooler lines and other was about to blow off. Had it towed back to kc to a different shop that fixed it. After they were done instead of getting car back carstar chose to keep it another night so they could check it. Got it back finally for the third time and was told I would here back from there customer service many times about compensation but never heard from anyone. Go elsewhere if you want it done right and in a timely manner. read more

Well, I took my car in after an accident on my Dodge Journey (new) and was just sick that a car bashed into me. Olathe carstar put it back to being new again. An employee said he would call me personally first thing in the morning. Never called. I had to call him. He finally called and promised my car would be ready by 4pm. Got here shortly after 4pm, and my car was still not ready. Currently sitting here waiting, and have not been offered any compensations. VERY disappointed with my experience. read more

Took our van to have it repaired after we were hit in the rear. They replaced the tailgate, rear bumper, & muffler. They could not get the tailgate to stop leaking air after several attempts. The final time they returned it to us it was dented in a couple of places. When we did our walk-around to pick it up, I noticed it and showed it to MJ, he just shrugged his shoulders. The whole process took them 3 months to complete. New van, new tailgate and it is dented. Something to look at every day and be disgusted with MJ and CarStar Olathe. NEVER use them again. read more

We used this new location to repair damage/paint sections of the front and rear bumpers on our Explorer. Since we were paying for the repair, not insurance, we asked for the most cost effective repair. The manager, M.J., was great and worked up a reasonable estimate. Carstar completed the repairs in the time they promised and returned the car not only so you couldn't tell it was repaired but spotless inside and out, including tire shine! I took my car in after an accident and was very disappointed with the work, yet is was done when stated. All gaps were off, grille was mounted wrong and was scratched and damaged new, color did not match, looked like I got it from a junk yard(not exaggerating). I took in a second time addressing the issues, they only fixed the grille mount and bent my fender out for unknown reason. When I asked about my gaps being off I asked "is my frame bent" Manager replied "Frames are a tricky thing", you are a body repair shop, you should be knowledgeable in frames being bent. $4300 in repairs and this is the job they did. Yes everyone is nice there for the most part, if nice is arrogant and wont listen to a customer with their dissatisfactions. Not detailed oriented they churn through cars without concern for the customers. I would never recommend, the manager is incompetent and arrogant. Maybe with different management, who cared about doing the job right and not bottom dollar it would be a better company. BTW double check, they use junkyard parts. Only one new part on my car which was the headlights I bought myself. read more
