Excellent hole in the wall. Everyone is very friendly. Don't expect a high-class restaurant, but you will get great food.

This place literally used to be the cart barn for a golf course. Looks sort of like a bar, with a grill. Dirt parking lot. Prices are just a little higher than your average bar and grill, but not much. Service was very good and very friendly. The cook (and I think the owner) bandered with several of the customers, making it sound like they are regulars. Between the four of us, we had a blackened chicken salad, crab cakes, a rueben, and a chicken sandwich. Sounds crazy, but all of them had the obvious touches of a classically trained chef. Subtle mixes of flavor, unusual spice combinations that worked amazingly well, and presentations that would make a 5 star restaurant proud. Best of all, was how it all tasted! The food was fabulous and in a different setting, could be sold at triple the price. This place is a DEAL. read more

Absolutely incredible!!!! Don't let the outside, putting range, barn appearance fool you! The food is innovative, tasty, and always fresh. I had the Black Grouper with potato chip crust and buffalo butter sauce, mashed potatoes and asparagus. So good!! I haven't had a bad fish dish here yet. I ordered the sirloin steak sandwich for lunch and to my amazement the steak was one of the best I have ever had! Awesome!!!!!!

When we got there, the house was packed, so we stayed despite the 30+ minute wait in a very warm space. Based on other Yelp reviews, we had the burger and Cuban- both with fries (other options were $20+). Burger was good with high quality sirloin, but boring. The Cuban tasted like a ham sandwich, as the pork, mustard and cheese went unnoticed. Fries were greasy and cold. Overall- we were underwhelmed. read more

This was our first visit to the new location. There were three of us. My brother is a retired executive chef and he mentioned how good the presentation was on the plates that were being served before we got our food. We had the hamburger (made from fresh ground sirloin in house), chicken sandwich and the shrimp po-boy. All were excellent as well as the slaw and home cut fries. This is exactly the kind of restaurant I love, it scores a zero on pretentiousness and a hundred on food quality. I've had the privilege of eating chef Tony's food for over 20 years now off and on, from the days of In Clover, thru the country club, and now at the Cart Barn. His food has been consistently something special, he is creative, understands and respects his ingredients, and always chooses them with care. Have been here literally dozens of times. Tony (the owner) has the best seafood imaginable and even more surprising for not being by a large body of water! This is definitely a "local's favorite". Doesn't look like much on the outside and you would be hard pressed to find it if you did not know where it is AND what it is, but you won't find a better meal anywhere in this area. We're from out of town (up north) and it was my turn to pick a place to eat. I don't like doing chain restaurants so I did a search of "food near me" while driving 85. It had good Yelp reviews so it was my pick. I heard some grumbles from my husband and 11 year old when we pulled in. It's tiny and looks a little rough. Inside it looks like a little diner with locals. My daughter turned her nose up further at the paper menus and nothing she saw looked good to her. My husband ordered a burger that he gave 5 stars (and he's picky). They both envied my Cuban sandwich (my daughter drooled over it until I gave her several bites). She ended up with a grilled cheese. We all loved our food. Each of our meals came with fresh cut fries and homemade coleslaw. Everything was delicious and I heard some apologies for their original complaints! The place has a cool golf history and is just neat altogether. We didn't even get a bill. When you're done you tell the cashier what you had and she rings it up. read more

It's one step above a shack. A funky little shack, the tin roof may be rusted, and rain will force you to tiptoe across the threshold , but get out of your whale-sized Chrysler and get inside. You do not want to miss this food! The hours are odd and the seating is limited but you can BYOB and there's no corkage charge. If they run out of tabletop buckets for your Chardonnay, the servers will keep it in the cooler for you. Oh, have I mentioned the food? Lunch - burgers and sammiches and fries that will make you swear you'll add another three miles to your run the next day. You won't, but it's a comfy crutch at the time. Dinner - ok, this goes from Fred Schneider on lead (lunch) to Cindy & Kate's angelic harmonizing (dinner). Entrees run up to $25-ish but absolutely worth it. The side salad features jicama, which always confuses my hubby, and go ahead and get the Green Goddess dressing - fresh and tasty and just different. Most entrees come with mashed potatoes and they are good; many come with a sautéed veggies and they are fantastic - still barely crunchy, not swimming in butter or oil. Crab cakes are nearly all crab. Filler? No stinkin' filler here. Fried shrimp has a batter lighter than my ham-handed prose. That's what we had Friday night, but we've also had the sea bass, mahi, scallops (they are sea & we are partial to bay), and turf. All very good to excellent; quality is totally unexpected based on the (I love) shack's outward appearance. So check the website to confirm the hours, and head out the Atlanta highway (or I85), and just go. It is just really that good. read more

If you are anywhere near LaGrange, Georgia do yourself a favor and don't miss this place. Service was great, food was awesome!!! Arrived 15 minutes before lunch closing and they had no problem serving us. Lunch special of steak sandwich and a very tasty Reuben. Both served with home cut fries and a delicious cole slaw. Steak was so tender and cooked medium as ordered. Owner, Tony, stopped by our table. Very veteran friendly folks. Horrible. Do not go here. When I saw the rat, I turned around and left! No greeting upon entry. Bathroom, men's, was filthy. No paper towels makes you wonder if the staff even washers their hands. This place was a mistake. Fortunately, it only takes once. read more

It looks divish. I questioned my sanity when I pulled up amongst the high end clientele of this diveish looking place. I had heard heard about it many times and decided I had to try it. Most word of mouth was don't let the looks fool you. It's to die for! Being new to the area I wasn't sure what to expect. A great place to eat on a diving range? Hmm ok. So I go there on my lunch hour which is actually 30 minutes so I should clarify my lunch half hour. I walked in and it was a dive type of place but judging by the parking lot and caliber of the clientele it had to be pretty good. So I stood there waiting to place a to go order. I understand they were super busy and the cashier was checking out people as fast as she could but no one else offered to speak to me or to ask me if I wanted a seat Which was really and truly is the only negative thing I could say about this place. I ordered a hamburger which seemed kind of high at $9 but when it finally arrived, I understood. I got back to work to eat at my desk....Heaven. I am telling you this is THE best burger I have had in a long time. I later found out they grind up their own sirloin there to make the burgers. I am a fan now! The cook there was working efficiently to handle all orders. Ahh that burger though! I can't say enough good stuff about it! I want to go back and order different things! Tony is the nicest chef / owner and the seafood is sourced fresh and reflects what is available. Its like eating at home if your dad was a great cook. He used to work at a 3 star Michelin star restaurant which explains it. He spent some time chatting and joking with us like we were his regulars... Outside looks like a dump which is a plus for diners else the line would be 20 people deep. As it is, its hard to find a table sometimes, but worth the wait! read more

in town for a sporting event and decided to give it a try after reading the reviews... so glad we did... friendly staff... generous portions... delicious..., they allow you to bring in your own "beverages" as they do not have a serving license.... will definitely go back on our next trip to la grange ! read more
