    Falafel platter

Unexpected little diner in old San Juan. I loved that their menu offered something really different to eat. Breakfast is served all day so that was awesome! Two of my girls had breakfast. One had an omelette with a beautiful side of fresh fruit the other had fruit pancakes. Sorry no pics! The falafel was crisp and seasoned well. The hummus was delish. And the lamb had an awesome char on it! The ladies serving us were very sweet and friendly and spoke many languages from what I could tell!

We stumbled upon this place while looking for a brunch place during the recent power outage. Luckily there was no wait, had an outlet for guests to plug in (as we needed to charge our phones), and a great menu selection. If I had known that the food could come out on a little train at the counter, I would have opted to sit there! Great decor too! I ordered the speciality breakfast of Shashouka. I've made this dish all the time and was curious how others make it. This was so good and loved the spicy flavor from the sausage they used. Prices were reasonable and so thankful for that as it could get pretty pricey in this touristy area. Fast and friendly service so highly recommend this place!

The restaurant it's a pretty sizeable place with two dining areas. I visited for breakfast and lunch both in one day. Some other restaurants weren't open which was great as I was able to visit. The dine in experience There is a train moves around a track in the middle of the restaurant and it drops off your meal at your spot which is a joy to seeing watch! The breakfast The two French toasts and eggs meal was filing, sweet and delicious. They allowed substitution of bacon with issue. The strawberry frappe was sweet and a great source of fuel before a day of walking the city. The lunch The chicken gyro and fries were tasty with a sizeable portion. I also ordered a baklava which was incredibly flaky but the right amount of chewy. The service was kind, patient and friendly despite the rush for breakfast and lunch.

There were very long lines at the popular brunch venues nearby so we instead opted for this place. Our group of 8 was led to the back private section. I ordered a mimosa and the Mediterranean omelet (which has lamb) and home fires.

They have a train that goes around and brings your food it's hysterical but very efficient

Who would think that a restaurant with a name like Carthage Express with hookahs all around and Mediterranean decor would serve excellent breakfast? Well this restaurant was a rare find that we happened on by accident and I have to say it was a super breakfast my husband had shakshuka that he just loved and I had two fried eggs with home fries and Puerto Rican bread toast the home fries were some of the best I've had. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the toast was excellent. Their coffee is also A1! I highly recommend this place

I highly recommend this place. The food is delicious and the owner and staff are so friendly. You will not regret it!

We made a reservation in the morning when we docked in San Juan since I read they stay busy. Atmosphere: Upon arrival, there was a short wait for 2 of us. The eatery has inside seating however with 5 full length doors to the outside it feels like an open air kinda eatery. There's a large countertop eating bar in the middle of the restaurant & an additional eating area in the back, but overall it's a pretty small dining spot. Food: Tried to make a few alterations to my dish such as scramble the omlette instead of the traditional fold it & add an over easy egg to the sandwich. They said the kitchen is very particular about the presentation of the food so no "scrambled" omelette & the over easy egg had to be on the side in case the yolk popped on the sandwich before making it to the table. Ok! Veggie omlette was really flavorful. Full of diced veggies. The avocado I added was such a nice consistency. Yes it was ripe but I think it's a different variety of avocado than we tend to get in mainland US. With the omelette plate, I substituted french toast ($6 up charge) for the regular toast. The french toast was soft & fluffy. Very good. The dish also came with a generous portion of hand cut French fries. It would have been better if they were hot but they were still good. My husband got the Cuban sandwich & added an over easy egg & said the sweet plantain on the sandwich was unexpected & really made it quite good. Pricing: Price point may be considered moderate to moderately higher, but you're on holiday and the food & ambiance are good. Breakfast was $78 before tip for 2 entrees (with add ons), 2 specialty coffees, 1 juice & $4 for unlimited filtered water. All in all, it was a heck of a lot of food, tasty, and I left very satisfied. I definitely recommend it!

We couldn't choose amongst all the empty tables, because staff were rude and dismissive. AC wasn't working, so we felt the humidity and heat. Ceiling fans weren't cutting it. We got the $25 wagyu burger and $20 Mallorca chicken sandwich, both of which were dry, bland, and underwhelming at best. The burger patty lacked flavor and there was no sauce or any accompaniments besides a very sad, wilted, thin slice of tomato and lettuce leaf. Pretty bad burger! The chicken sandwich was so heavily fried, we almost broke our teeth against the chicken. Insanely salty--we couldn't take more than a few bites. Felt so parched for the rest of the day. Fries were the best part of the meal--so salty and thin.

AMBIANCE Parking: Old San Juan rules--come early or be ready to walk. Seating: Multiple seating areas for individuals and small groups but it's also a cafe too so there is seating in the back too. The kids' quesadilla was a huge hit with our 5-year-old (who is a picky eater and devoured it). The veggie fajitas were decent and tasty, though for the price I would have liked a bit more on the plate in terms of sides. There was a small hiccup where cilantro was accidentally added to one of my dishes, and it did take quite a while for the corrected dish to come out, but they were very kind about it. St. Germain Bistro Bar happened to be right across from our Airbnb, and honestly it felt like we got lucky. Even though it was late, they seated us right away and helped us pull together two small tables so our family could sit comfortably. My kids were starving, so that alone was a huge relief. The portions for the kids' pasta and chicken nuggets were a little smaller than expected, but the flavor and quality were excellent. You could tell the food was made with care. I ordered the onion soup and the fried cheese with guava dip and wow. Absolutely delicious. The guava dip especially was incredible. I also had a mojito that was perfectly made. But what really made the night unforgettable was the kindness of the staff. My son had forgotten his inhaler and was having a hard time adjusting to the humidity. He was coughing a lot and clearly uncomfortable. Vianca noticed right away and went out of her way to help. She brought over honey and encouraged him to take a little shot with ginger and honey, then brought hot tea as well. She even suggested things like putting socks on him and using Vicks when we got back. When I mentioned that my kids are half Puerto Rican and their abuela already swears by those remedies, she just lit up and said, "Well you're home then, you already know what to do." That moment really stuck with me. The warmth, the care for kids, the genuine hospitality. It's exactly the kind of Puerto Rican kindness people talk about. The kitchen is small, so service can be a little slower, but it's absolutely worth the wait. The food is great, the drinks are great, and the people make the place special. If you're nearby, definitely stop in. Places like this are why people fall in love with Puerto Rico.
