A local uber driver suggested Madeleine's for breakfast, after checking in, we headed straight over. The weather was absolutely beautiful in PR so we welcomed the cute bistro table outside. Coffee was spectacular and the plates even better. The madame was an adventurous dish but I am so happy I gave it a shot. Def blew my expectations. The bread and bechamel were delicious. The food was very delicious. Everything came out wonderful, the latte was soooo good. The perfect amount of coffee and milk. The truffle fries were amazing! I love truffle but never had them on fries, it was the best thing ever! The server was very helpful and friendly, she was very busy so didn't see her much; it was very beautiful inside even though we had to sit outside. I ordered the chorizo eggs Benedict it was super under cooked and could not eat it because of that but was still charged anyways which would be fine if I could eat any of it. My friend also order the same thing but couldn't enjoy hers because of her allergic reaction. They did not put any anywhere on the menu that it included plantains just sausage and egg Benedict so she ate some unknowingly after carefully reading through the menu. I have been coming here for years, before or after my VA Hospital appointment. Ok so today April 20 2023, we had a very bad experience. We arrived at 12 noon, ordered drinks.10 mins pass ordered lunch. Now 20 mins pass and the waiter advised me they dont have the homemade beef sliders, i saw ok ill have the panko chicken sliders, please advise me. He walked away and never returned to tell me either way. Now its 1240 and the place is full. I noticed 2 tables behind my table, 6 people sitting. They recieved sliders all 6 people, now i see whats happening here. Im a black Puerto Rican and i was just placed at the end of the line and had to come into the back door so to speak. The waiter was told to cancel the order however he came at 103pm just over an hour that we arrived with the food i ordered 45 mins ago. While the 2 other table who have arrived 25 mins after i have arrived. This is a shame that now in 2023 that an island which is comprised of tainos and other races of people, that i be treated like the way i was today. It breaks my heart to the max, i have endured this all my life being a world traveler but never would i have thought it would happen on my island. I wrote a blank check to give my life to this island and this is the respect i get which is no respect at all because of my skin color. The owner the mangers and staff should be ashamed of the treatment to a disabled veteran and native of this island. I grew up in the playa de ponce and NY. Never have i been treated in this matter ever in my life. So if you are white anglo or even a white Puerto Rican, they will welcome you here with open arms with ballons and streamers and you will feell right at home with the service. As for me i will have a bad taste in my mouth for ever till the day i pass this earth to the beyond. It will never be forgotten by me nor my wife. Finalizing the birthday celebration We arrived before 10:00am and we got a table as soon as we arrived. They accommodated the table so the stroller would fit so it was great The server provided great recommendations depending on what we wanted. Sadly they do not make Pancakes which it was what my mom wanted and the waffles from the other table look pale. So she went with the eggs Benedict's with truffle fries and she loved it! I went with the cream of the day which was Farina and it was DELICIOUS. The decaf with oat milk was tasty as well. They have various milk alternatives such as coconut, oat and soy so if you have an oat allergy & lactose intolerance you can get something else. The mimosa was of watermelon and it was really good. I cant remember the name of my plate but it is with smoked salmon and the house salad as a side.. GUYS THIS WAS PERFECTION! order this plate because it was mouth watering. The best waffles I've had in my life! They are crunchy on the ouside and soft in the inside. Amazkng! Not on yhe menu but they do have boiled eggs which was a plus for my son. The food is the best thing about this place. The toast that came with my meal was so buttery and toasted to perfection. The inside is very small so we ate outside...it's PR so can't go wrong eating outside. The service was great. Everything we ate here was so delicious. The strawberry smoothies were fresh and delicious. My boyfriend had the steak and fries, while I had the breakfast sampler. The breakfast sampler is a serious bang for your buck and definitely worth a try. The steak was also delicious. The true star of the show was the truffle fries. They were exquisite! One of the best brunch places to go! French toasts are amazing (best ones I have tried) and the truffle fries are the best. You might have to wait a while but it is worth the wait. Today was the last time I'm ordering here. Besides everything is utterly overpriced, customer service is questionable. I walked in finding 3 staff behind counter "bachateando" and simply no acknowledging my existence. I counted 5-6 staff that were visible at that time. After the chef noticing I was being completely ignored, she asked if I have been asked for my order. Nope, just guessing here when one of them felt the care of taking my order, at least that's what I was thinking but my facial impression was like-- well you know the answer to that. I finally had someone taking my order , which at least in my mind was supposed to be a quick order to go. A 10 oz latte ( nothing crazy- no alternative milk or anything) and a sad buttered toast. I'm saying sad because I got 4 tiny pieces of integral bread with butter. I paid $8.56. WTF‼Another issue...A customer made her order ( 2 places) after me and definitely was receiving a 5 star service (fast track style). After I loudly voiced my frustration things definitely speeded up. Conclusion: it appears you have to be a blondie with blue eyes and speak English to be treated properly. Yup, my money is not good enough here. Bye! The food was pretty good, but we did order poached eggs and all of them were over cooked. The French toast was my favorite by far. The servers were good, but not to personable. The out side dining was nice, but there were crack head birds jumping on the tables and stealing one of the specific sweeteners to eat. This is an amazing and unique spot for coffee, breakfast, and lunch. It is already a popular brunch place among locals for weekends but I think it is slightly under rated when it comes for lunch. The lunch dishes I have had are amazing. The menu offers some creative options which retain essential elements of traditional Puerto Rican cuisine. The twist they do in the "mampostiao rice" is delicious; I have had it several times with the skirt steak and it never disappoints. The atmosphere of this place is also very special. Staff is always friendly and they get to become friends with the locals that come often. Something that makes Madeleine unique is that sometimes they have live music during lunch time. There is musician that plays different kinds of instruments which gives the cafe a French/European vibe. His music is amazing and very unique and different in the context of urban San Juan... it lifts up my day whenever I listen to his music while enjoying the food or coffee. Went in on a weekday for breakfast. Really nice ambience, with cute & comfortable seating (both indoor and outdoor seating). The service was quick and the food was on point. We got the cinnamon french toast and the waffle and both were really good but I would highly recommend the waffle as it was homemade, light, fluffy and just pure deliciousness! The coffee was served with a Madeline cookie which is just super sweet given the name of the restaurant. Looking forward to coming back for brunch to see the extended menu. read more

In the end, and not knowing when I would have the chance to be back, I ordered the sampler with bacon, ham AND turkey, because why not right!! We had a very good breakfast at this restaurant on our first day in Puerto Rico. The rosemary toast was exceptional and the people in our party who had avocado toast that was made with the toast said that it was really good and the smoked salmon was also said to be good. I had an omelette with chorizo and Amarillas (which I believe were plantains) and it was big and very tasty. The iced coffee was also really good. Beautiful place with a casual vibe and a french charm. I had the Panko Crusted Chicken Sliders, tried their french toast and asparagus soup. The sliders where amazing, served two kaiser bread with salad and avocado. Soup was creamy and delicious, asparagus chunks added an awesome kick. Stopped by because I saw some of the great reviews and was very disappointed. The location and ambiance are great but the food wasn't anything close to what I expected. The water tasted weird which was the first red flag. I ordered a simple waffle with fruit but there was absolutely nothing special about the plain waffle with a dab of whip cream and a handful of fruit slices. For it to be a go-to brunch place, I would expect the batter and presentation to be amazing. My friend ordered eggs and they threw fruit and granola on a plate instead of a bowl which would make it easier to eat. I had the passion fruit mimosa which was okay and another orange juice mimosa. The glass or the juice had a foul smell to it which made me nauseous. It was also more like a slushy than a freshly squeezed orange juice mimosa.
