We came here for lunch and were starving! I tried the potato hash, side salad , crispy fries and a delicious sandwich. My wife got the mahi tacos and they were deep fried like a fish stick, not grilled, so a tad disappointed with that. They've got a good selection of beer, and margaritas! A quaint and old colonial restaurant home with excellent service.

Food is EXCELLENT. Appreciate the many vegan options. Portions are small. Service is friendly but slow. Had to approach the counter several times. Again, food is SO GOOD, we visited twice.

I was walking by and I noticed this place. I was not very excited because I am not really a sandwich person but it was incredible!!! I had the Klox, skirt steak sandwich and fried cheese. The best fries I have ever had. Checkout my pictures. I plan to definitely go back to this place again before I leave. The service was excellent and the staff was very friendly.

There are not very many vegan/vegetarian options in Old San Juan - and it's even harder to find a restaurant that will also appease meat eaters but St. Germain offers it all! It's a lovely little restaurant in Old San Juan that offers a wide array of dishes for carnivores and herbivores alike - and they're respectful of dietary preferences in switching out cookware/ not frying things in beef tallow. My in laws and husband were unsure of the menu at first, but our wonderful server Nashalie recommended the fried cheese and dried eggplant appetizers - and everyone was sold! By the end of the meal we were sated - stuffed even - and planning our next visit here already! The prices are reasonable and won't break the bank; the food is quite delicious and cooked fresh on the premises. They were kid friendly too- with pita pizza and chicken+ fries options (always a winner with the kiddos). I was particularly pleased with my stuffed pepper! All in all, a delightful dining experience - and a must stop for any vegan/vegetarian visiting San Juan.

This spot was recommended to us in old San Juan. Started here for a cocktail and apps. Let me tell you the deliciousness of this. The spot is small and cutesie on the inside. The service was good. But let's talk about the food. Three apps: fried cheese, fried plantains with chicken, and tomato salad. Oh goodness were all of these so darn tasty. And our drinks were also delish. They took a bit to come out but worth the wait. I had the rum cucumber that they have as a specialty cocktail of theirs and it was well balanced and so refreshing. Def recommended if you're hoping around old San Juan.

This was our breakfast spot the last day of our trip and it did not disappoint. Besides them taking longer than usual to bring out our food, everything was amazing. The service was great. The food was great. The ambiance was great. One friend got the lemon ricotta pancakes...sooo yummy and fluffy! Another friend got the vegetarian sandwich with eggplant and she raved that sandwich so much. She even wanted to save half of it for later because it was THAT good. When we come back to PR, we definitely will be coming back here!

The Lentil dip. I really meant to take a pic earlier but wifey dug in, I gave up, then I dug in, and wow! So good!

What a funky little corner. On one side is a place where people are lined up waiting to get in, and then you have this place. What an amazing little place. But I'm gonna share some things as I'm not sure who is running things, because when I brought up an issue with the bathroom with one of the two dudes up front, it was met with indifference. So my issues: - no tp or towels in the bathroom. There's only one bathroom for men and women so it can be an issue. - never received napkins or silverware. - the English menu on iPhone has a glitch so you can't see the entree section so use the Spanish version. My mahi wrap with papas fritas were excellent. The fries are probably the best I've had in old San Juan. My wife had this lentil vegan dish/dip that was so flavorful. Picture fail on that dish but trust me, it was that good that I felt it was worthy of a pic before I licked the bowl clean (kidding! I used my fries and fingers, again no utensils). I had a gin Rickey that was excellent. They have an extensive listing of drinks written out beautifully on this huge board. I think the chef may also be the owner as he was also popping out between rushes to help out. Honestly, those small little hiccups were nothing and maybe it was a new employee as they did have that deer in the headlights look as only 2 people were working the bar and seating area. I would definitely go back and I hope Others check the place out too.

    Mallorca sandwich

St Germaine cocktail was an amazing cinnamon infused drink. Unlike anything I have tried before. The sandwich was next level, sweet dinner roll style bun with bacon, egg, fried cheese and guava jam. Fantastic place.

Great ambiance, cozy vibes but bland food. Salad had a lemony vinaigrette that was super runny and mixed in with my bread. Bread felt really stale and wasn't toasted. Eggs were fine, just salt and over easy - nothing fancy. My vegan partner had a sandwich with some mushroom - no protein sources for him. Overall gets the job done, nothing to write home about.

A cute and quaint spot in old San Juan. The service was fast and our server was kind and attentive. The ambiance was nice, well decorated, quaint, and not super busy for lunch on a Friday. Had brunch and ordered the vegan steak sandwich and a coffee. The sandwich was delicious. The flavors all melded together so well. The ciabatta was soft and not difficult to bite in to which I really appreciated. The mushrooms were meaty and melted right into the sandwich. Would definitely recommend and would definitely have again. In general they had a good amount of vegan/veg options!

Opted to have brunch at this place as they had vegetarian options for a friend in our group. It turned out to be a very popular brunch place where the line got pretty long. We were lucky and were able to be sat rather quickly before the rush. We started off with coffee, lattes, and mimosas; can't go wrong with any of that. Then, for the table, we ordered the TWO-WAY TOAST, BKF BURGER, EGGPLANT BLT, and MALLORCA. Minus our vegetarian friend, we all got to sample each other's food and we all agreed and everything was great. The food was fresh and just enough to fuel us up before a day of exploring Old San Juan. Staff was friendly and the gave great recommendations. There are also bathrooms available for patrons. The restaurant itself is open and airy with a lot of sunlight. Would definitely return on my next trip to PR.

    St Germain breakfast

Everything was awesome , went to breakfast and our waitress was amazing and the food was too. The espresso martini was great. I asked to have it made less sweet and it was perfect.

After a full day of traveling, the hominess of St. Germain was so welcome with its friendly staff and selections of comfort food of soups, sandwiches, and dips. Went with the eggplant marinara because it was my first real meal of the day. It was hearty and filling and what my body needed. Pro tip: cut the eggplant and mix in its garlicky goodness with the sauce. It's fried well so it'll keep its crunch and shape. It made me crave for a flat plate instead of the bowl the spaghetti came in. Managed not to splash too much tomato sauce. Happy hour from 3 to 7pm, $5 dollar drinks and discounts on the breaded eggplant and yucca montadito (which can be made vegan). Ask for Alex; he makes a mean margarita.

The vibe was great, the food was fresh and well made, and the service was friendly overall. A fun bonus: we actually got to see the famous rock band Maná dining there, which was such a cool surprise! We ordered quite a bit--the chips and queso, chips and guac, hot sauce, tamale, rice and beans, kids cheese quesadilla, and veggie fajitas. The kids' quesadilla was a huge hit with our 5-year-old (who is a picky eater and devoured it). The veggie fajitas were decent and tasty, though for the price I would have liked a bit more on the plate in terms of sides. There was a small hiccup where cilantro was accidentally added to one of my dishes, and it did take quite a while for the corrected dish to come out, but they were very kind about it. That said, everything else was enjoyable and the overall experience was still very good. Overall, a great spot for solid Mexican food in Old San Juan with a fun atmosphere and fresh flavors.

There were four of us dining, and we started with two appetizers: the Setas Rellenas and the Chorizo al Vino. Both were excellent, but the Chorizo al Vino was my absolute favorite--absolutely delicious! For my entrée, I ordered the chicken lasagna. I expected chunks of chicken, but it was made with shredded chicken, and wow--it was incredible. The flavor was outstanding, and it ended up being one of my favorite meals of our trip. My husband ordered the beef lasagna, which was also made with shredded beef rather than traditional ground beef. He absolutely loved it. Our friends ordered the Milanesa de Berenjena and the Milanesa de Pollo with a side of gnocchi, and both raved about their meals as well. Since nearly every table seemed to be ordering pizza, we knew we had to try one. We ordered a small pizza for the table, and each of us had a slice. Now we understand why they're known for their pizza--it was fantastic! A special shoutout to our server, Rouil Rodz, who was attentive, friendly, and provided excellent service throughout the evening. Don't let the unassuming entrance fool you. My brother and I tried dishes from both menus, and found it to be quite good. As we were walking past, a small sign for 'Grandma's Kitchen' caught our eye. My brother had been encouraging me to try Puerto Rico's national dish: Mofongo - mashed fried plantains. Unfortunately, restaurants were just packed with long waits and I wasn't in the mood to wait outside in the sun for a long time. The door next to the sign stated that it was a restaurant called 'Istanbul'. We peaked inside, and was welcomed warmly by a host, who let us know that the restaurant was both Grandma's Kitchen/Istanbul. There was nobody else dining inside, which was weird considering how every other restaurant in the area was packed. The dishes are made to order, so took a bit of time for it to come out one at a time. Mixed Seafood Stuffed Mofongo ($25) - served in a wooden pilon, the tall and narrow neck was stuffed with the mashed plantains, topped with a seafood blend of clams, dense fish pieces, octopus, and squid. The sauce was really well done, not too rich, but buttery enough to accentuate the seafood. I have to believe the seafood was prepared from frozen, but it tasted really good: a definite notch up from the seafood I've been having on the cruise boats. It was the first time having mofongo, and I liked it. This version had fried plantain chips, mixed with the mash of more plantains. I don't think this version had pork skin rinds, and I didn't miss it. It's extremely dense, so ended up eating maybe a third of it while finishing the seafood. It's a solid alternative to rice, though definitely can't eat too much of it. Doner Kebab ($18) - from the Istanbul portion of the menu, this dish was tasty, though the meat was cooked on a flat top grill like a burger patty, instead of on a vertical rotisserie. The lamb/beef patty was loosely formed and well seasoned, with the accompanying tzatziki sauce being a good add-on. Both dishes were cooked very well, the back kitchen has some skills. Service was friendly throughout. Water is not offered, but guessing they will give to you if asked. Payment was provided after the meal, and they do stick on a mandatory 15% gratuity for all party sizes.
