Summertime Pies is my favorite food truck here!
    PatrickJ T.

Every Thursday for lunch at Fulton Mall in Fresno is where they will be. Wish I had spotted CARTHOP before eating lunch, but I had not walked down Fulton Mall far enough. Decided to take a closer look because of the loud music playing and I saw a food truck. Turned the corner and to my surprise there were about 4 other food trucks parked, and each one had a line of people. There was a taco truck, a burger truck, Casa Tamales, Raw Fresno, and Summertime Pies. I tried a pie from Summertime, and it was terrific. Will write more about them on their Yelp page. Anyways, if you happen to be in Fresno on a Thursday for lunch, then check these food trucks out!

Casa de tamales and their $8 lunch deal

It really brings life to the otherwise quiet Fulton mall with live music, people gathering around, and more delicious option to eat for lunch on Thursdays at Fulton Mall and for people working in Downtown Fresno. There are about 5-7 trucks each week, mainly: Tako BBQ, Dusty Buns, Summertime pies, Casa Tamales, Matties Pizza & Raw Fresno. This food truck is also consistently there every week on Thursday, so I usually look forward to it because I get a variety of different things to eat. The food is not cheap but they are quality, be prepared to spend $8-$12 for meals, and credit card and debit card is accepted, although I think cash would be easier and faster while paying. It feels very safe to be at Fulton mall despite the popular belief that this place is ghetto on Food Truck day, for those who aren't working in downtown and coming for the food truck event at Fulton I would advice parking at CVS, its free. I would come early at about 11/11.15 to avoid the lunch crowd. There aren't that many seats to eat there probably 2-3 tables, but most of the for can be eaten standing up or just perfect for take out. I do enjoy the live music misty so much fun. Overall a very nice put together on a Thursday for downtown. I of course would love more tables and chair and maybe even more options here like ice cream and etc during summer.

I think this one is called bistro burger.

Wish there were more taco truck varieties. This is my 2nd time there. I'm not a huge fan of the KBBQ taco truck, but try it if you've not tried it before. but my new fav is dusty buns! Def must try. Casa de tamales was mediocre. But good deal of you want a drink. We got the two tamales meal with a drink. salsa was not too spicy, more sweet. But I can handle spicy food, so if you prefer sweet, def get it! There were not a lot of people so very easy to get in and out. I plan to return to try the other taco trucks (summertime pies, raw Fresno (??) and the wood fire pizza truck). Bring more vendors/trucks! :)

I dunno. CArtHop started off okay, but it doesn't seem as good, anymore. I sure won't be hanging out at Eaton Plaza when Summer's cooking.

I decided to give it a try at Grobak and was so pleasantly surprised. I ordered the Orange Dragon Roll and it was delicious. The fish was fresh and the sauce toppings added so much to the roll. It didn't come with the traditional soy sauce, wasabi, or ginger and I was worried it wouldn't be as good as a result. Wow! Is all I can say. I really enjoyed their sushi, even without the extra sides I am used to. I look forward to getting a chance to eat at this food truck again.

The woman who helped me was nice--just standard service. I ordered my roll and was handed a little pager thing to wait for my order to be ready. Once it was ready, I was handed the roll in a styrofoam box and went to eat it at a table. I got the orange dragon roll, and it was absolutely delicious. The salmon was some of the freshest-tasting (and texture) I've ever had! Not to mention everything else in the roll complimented it perfectly. Definitely check them out.

I had the pulled pork sandwich with a side of yummy coleslaw. The sandwich came with several single serving size containers of bbq sauce. The pulled pork was very tender, moist and smoked deliciously. Soft hoagie roll. The bbq sauce was very flavorful and not spicy which is how I like it. I loved the coleslaw because it wasn't too mayonnaisey, more of a subtle vinegar flavor. My son ordered the brisket with collard greens which he says, you can't truly be a bbq restaurant without collard greens. He loved them and the brisket was tender and lean. His husband ordered a tri tip sandwich with the Mac n cheese along with a made to order Blackberry Lemonade. They both loved their meals. We all agreed we'd return for another meal. Tge desserts looks delicious! Bread pudding, peach cobbler and a couple other choices. Like I said, another day to indulge in dessert. It is outdoor seating only on picnic tables. You could see the owner and his assistant working hard to prepare the meals. They had a steady stream of guests. Good location with parking very close by.

The staff is super sweet and always gets us in and out quickly, which I really appreciate. I usually order my food to go, but if you want to dine in, they do have some seating inside. Now let's talk tacos. I ordered a lengua taco and a cabeza taco and asked for everything on them--which I highly recommend if you want maximum flavor. These tacos are always packed tight and loaded, and even to-go, everything arrives in perfect A1 condition. Yes, they can get a little messy, but trust me, it's so worth it. The red salsa has just the right amount of heat, the meat is cooked perfectly, and the corn tortillas pull everything together so well. They also usually add cucumbers, which are clutch when things start getting a little spicy. If you're looking for solid, flavorful tacos with great service, definitely check out La Elegante. Fresno classic.

They have windows on both sides of the truck but I guess the working windows faces the street. That's where we order and pick up. Totally didn't know that stood there like a dummy u til someone said something. When we went around the truck, it was against a curb and there were small puddles of water. I'm not sure if it's the trash cans that smelled or there was a sewer really nearby. It smelled really nasty. My daughter insisted that she still wanted a mango smoothie and coconut water sounded pretty refreshing. Plus, we were already patiently waiting for a while before someone told us to order on the other cramped side. The lady that took our order wasn't friendly. She just ask what we wanted to order. She looked at me with a confused face when I said coconut water and mango smoothie. Maybe she didn't speak English? She walked away from the window I'm assuming to ask someone in the truck about our order. A man came to the window and ask what we order and we said mango smoothie and coconut water. He translated to her. Our drinks only cost $2.50 each which is sooooo inexpensive. I didn't see the prices listed for the drinks, only for food. The window was a bit high, so I'm glad I am not shorter than 5'3! I was standing on the curb too! After a few minutes, we got our drinks. The mango smoothie was dripping on the side so we had to clean it up. My daughter said it was delicious and she can taste the freshness. (Frozen mangos) my coconut water was in a really big container and it was super refreshing. It was warmer than chilled but colder than room temperature. I had minimum bits of coconut bits in my drink. Overall, the drinks were really good. Service could be way better, the man was nice. I probably wouldn't order from them again if they are in the same location facing the street because of the smell. But if saw them anywhere else at an event, I would for sure order again!

Can't wait to try the mangoneadas! I was surprised at the price, but honestly, it's a lot of fruit, and it was all fresh and great quality. The corn was pretty tasty too. No idea what was in it, my guess would be mayo, butter, maybe some type of creama instead of butter, queso fresco and chile powder. So definitely a lot of dairy! If that is not your thing, grab a roasted corn instead! My 3 star ratings is really for the inconvenient set up. They have the ordering window on the street side (I'm sure to entice others to stop by), but the street side is positioned on this weird planter/curb area, which is muddy and smelly. They have put plastic pallets down in front of the ordering window, but it is still not the safest area. Don't get me wrong the actual location is great central spot, close to Fresno State, but the location on the premise itself could be reworked I'm sure. Don't necessarily know if that will totally stop me from coming back, but just an honest look at the place!
