This place has great food !!! A hidden gem ! Service was great. Not a cheap place !!! Bring your pocket book but we had great food.

First, my wife and I had reservations for 5:30. We requested and was granted a change in reservation to 6:45 due to my wife's on-call schedule. We arrived at 7pm and was greeted with a smiling hostess who accepted our apologies for being late, seated us and stated that we had diminished time to dine due to our tardiness. She specifically stated that we would have to done by 8:15. We both understood it was our fault, but we all felt we would have enough time to enjoy this early mother's day dinner. I kept an eye on the time and we finished our meals at 8pm. We planned to not get dessert until a sweet short-haired waitress talked us into their delicious dark chocolate cake. I asked her to make sure by checking with the hostess as we had no problem passing on the dessert. She assured us that we were fine on time. It was right after we received our dessert that our waiter Matt came to our table to notify us that he was informed by the hostess that our time was "up". We were both shocked and felt bad and uncomfortable. I asked to speak to the hostess. She came by around 8:10 and said not worry all is fine. As it turned out, we were finished and waiting for our check at 8:15 exactly. In my opinion we were the perfect patrons, sensitive to their difficult job of serving their guests. I just wished there was better communication, or Caruso's would have taken us up on our offer to cancel. Instead, keeping an eye on the clock is not the best way to fully enjoy a meal. My Wife and I had the Pappardelle alla Vodka and the Pollo Milanese. Both of us really enjoyed the flavors and unique tastes that encompassed our meals. This place is a fantastic secret in LKN. Even at high noon in the middle of North Carolina Summer, when the door closes behind you it is dark and romantic inside. The Italian Meatloaf isn't always on the menu but you can ask for it. Always hear the specials! They got a bad rap in the media because they don't allow small children. I understand that 100%. If I'm dropping $100+ on dinner for two I want a peaceful environment as well. We go often. They make you feel like family. read more

Let's start with the problem - this place is hard to find, hidden in a mostly empty strip mall (next to a place that calls itself a "grubbery") in an area of new construction that isn't easy to navigate. Google Maps thinks its a few blocks down on a dead end road, so don't use your iPhone to try and get here. Oh, and the restaurant is kind of dark, as it's a cross between mood lighting and bed time lighting. None of that matters. You can ignore the entire paragraph above, actually, and just focus on this - the food is about as good as Italian gets down here, and is priced at a level that simply undersells how good this place is. Almost all of the entrees are $16 to $18, though the sea bass special my wife ordered was $25. They are good enough to justify double that. Come on - a perfect sized king salmon and remarkably fresh lump crab meat in a beautiful lemon white wine sauce, cooked brilliantly for less than $20? You're joking, right? My wife and I live an hour from Mooresville, only finding it as we drove back from the mountains and needed to go south for a bit to avoid a huge rain storm, but we'll be back. There's no Italian in the Triad this good, even though there are a dozen places that try harder and charge more. If you just want great food, go here. They don't use freezers, and you will taste the freshness in every bite. When you leave, you will be stunned at how small your bill is for what you ate. I tried to make up for it by tipping 25 percent, and I still felt like I was robbing the place. It's just that good. read more

My first dining experience at Caruso's. A delightful surprise! Everything was delicious! I had the Gulf Shrimp and Sea Scallops alla vodka. The decor and ambiance is lovely and the artwork is impressive, painted by the owner/chef. If you're looking for fine dining in the Mooresville area this is a wonderful choice. Quite reasonably priced for the quality of food and the service. I will definitely be going back. One little problem though, the room we were dining in had a large group and they were rather loud and their voices carried through out the dining room. read more

My wife and I decided to skip our usual 131 Main St. Saturday night dinner for Caruso's. We dined here a little over a year ago and the food, beverages and service was very very pleasing... Actually it was outstanding!!! Now about last Saturday night. We ordered the calamari - cold n gummy, my Caesar salad was no more than romaine lettuce with parmesan cheese sprinkled on top. REALLY!!! Our dinners were a complete mess with half baked fish to cold pork chop with watered down gravy all over the plate. I don't know what has changed since the last time we were there but we will not be coming back anytime soon. The Chefs need to be trained on how to cook Italian food properly or need to be replaced or Caruso's will be gone. read more

This is REALLY REALLY GOOD Italian food. from the salads to the deserts their menu is not your typical Italian cuisine. I had the Pollo Fagottini as the main meal and the Almond Tiramisu and MAN they were fantastic!!! They'll even customize a dish if there's something that doesn't float your boat or if you're a vegetarian, everything is fresh made! Very nice inside and located in a strip mall (great parking). Dress is anywhere from casual to suit and tie. Thanks to Yelp! we found this hidden gem in rural NC! definitely off the beaten path and well worth the drive no matter where you live. I reviewed this place a long time ago and if memory serves gave it 4 stars. I went for lunch today and had the best veal dish I have had outside of Italy. It was veal scaloppine with piazola sauce and it was exquisite. I had the sauce over some spaghetti noodles and would have seriously over eat had the portions been larger. I'm not complaining, the portion size was perfect. Service is always great and I have always enjoyed Caruso's. If you are within an hours drive it's worth it. This amazing place is one of my favs! This fresh ingredient Italian made with the utmost of integrity is worth the stop. The Seabass & Tuna are always incredible - and never be afraid to try the specials! For early weekend seating - get a reservation or just go after 8PM. And just like in Italy - have the house wine. For fine Italian dining at it's best there is no other that beats out Caruso's in the Lake Norman area. Service is outstanding but the cuisine is out of this world. Their specials change daily. My boyfriend and I had a night out for his birthday dinner. I have always enjoyed the food at Caruso's. I had a shrimp pasta that was good, not great....but all in all a good experience. No clue how this place gets 4.5 star rating. It's mediocre at best. Pricey and atmosphere is so dark that you can barely see where you are waking. Layout is back and dreary. I could deal with it if the food made up for it and it just doesn't. Pastas are oily and some are too heavy. I've given this place enough chances. My guess is the lack of mooresville food options is the only reason that Caruso's maintains a strong rating. read more

SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT THIS WAS OUR WEEKLY RITUAL AND WILL NEVER GO BACK!!!!!!! My husband and I dine here every week. However on Valentine's evening, we had no reservations and decided we would go early (5:45pm) and eat at the bar. When I entered the restaurant and was walking toward the bar I was stopped abruptly in the middle of the dining room by a waiter (older man. bald) and asked in a confrontational tone if he could help me. I explained to him that my husband and I were going to the the bar. He quickly and rudely replied back in a even louder tone (EVERYONE IN THE DINING ROOM WAS WATCHING THIS) that it was reservations only that evening and NO ONE could eat or drink at the bar. I was so embarrassed and shocked that this was happening in such an unprofessional manner, that I didn't ask why there was a gentleman eating at the bar. When we were leaving, my husband stopped to speak with the hostess about what just occurred and she agreed that it was done in an unprofessional manner. She took down my his number and told him that the owner would be calling him about the situation. We are still waiting on his call.... read more

Visited my mother this weekend in Mooresville with my girlfriend. All three of us are born and raised NYC, so good Italian in the south is always a delight. Caruso's really was a great place and the service was well done all-around. My mother is pretty picky, but she enjoyed her meal so for that reason alone the place gets four stars. It's nice to find a cozy, comfortable restaurant in the area in the midst of the tons of chains. Decor is very nice. The hostess was friendly and our server excellent. We're not complaining about our meals - they were good but not fantastic. The Fresco salad would be better if you could taste the dressing. I had the stuffed chicken breast which was a little bland considering the flavors that were described. I couldn't detect the pesto flavor, only cheese. The Pasta Bolognese which my husband had also needed more flavor. We're glad we went. We enjoyed the setting, but would rather pay a bit less for the food experience.
