I'd been thinking of selling my car on and off for the past year. The price I was quoted was more than reasonable. I started the process; within 15 minutes I was done with a pick up at my house the following day. Paperwork was sent/signed and approved. The driver showed up the following day at the assigned time; explained everything and my car was loaded on the truck. The funds were in my bank account by end of the business day. I was a happy camper. The only thing I wish I had known earlier was the dollar amount for the pick up at my home. I'm sure it's listed on the website though I feel it should be noted at the beginning of the process instead of nearing the end of the deal. I was very spectical to purchase a car by only viewing pictures or a "vending machine process." When my car was delivered there were visible cosmetic details that were not present in the pictures. Nothing that a good detailing couldn't take care of. After driving the vehicle on the first night the Stabilitrack light came on for service. I contacted a mobile service company near me as recommended. the service tech was not able to fic the problem and suggested I take the car to the dealership, which I did. Repairs were addressed at no cost to me, rental car will be reimbursed by SilverRock. In addition, Carvana provided an extension on my return policy. Although the preparation on the website getting all of my personal information and the car title was annoying, they lived up to their word 100%. I had to provide photos of mine and my wife's licenses, both sides, and both sides of the title. The second was okay but smelled so much like cigarette smoke it made me and my entire family horrendously nauseas - returned it too - the third sounded like a school bus the brakes were so bad, and the tires were legally bald, but because the pads had ONE SIXTEENTH of an inch and the tires had 1/32 of an inch, carvana refused to do anything about it. their warranties are an absolute joke. The people are nice and the facade is well designed. Just know that design is a trap. Might work well for the masses, but those with actual knowledge of cars, those looking for more than the cheapest car they can find - it is not possible for me to recommend Carvana any less. As a boy, I remember the injustice of a dealer fleecing my unemployed and widowed mom into a monthly payment half her income when she had a check from a family member to buy the car free and clear. Carvana made the sale super easy; however, I didn't realize I needed to convert photos from .heic (Apple default) .jpeg format. Not the experience I was expecting at pick up. Team members were friendly but know nothing about the registration/title process. I wanted to transfer handicap plates from an existing vehicle so I didn't have to pay the IL DMV an additional fee, but they didn't know how to handle this. They had an issue with the elevator, which they lead us to believe didn't allow for the vehicle to be 'delivered' to the ground floor. Waited over an hour for the tech team to reboot the system multiple times, only to discover they could actually bring the car down without the system doing the "dance" once it hit street-level. By the time the car hit the ground, it was after 830 pm, meaning it was too dark to inspect the car for undisclosed nicks/blemishes... The following day I discovered a scratch on the inside of the windshield, which was not disclosed on the listing. When I reached out to Carvana Corp through their Chat feature, they said I could return the car if I wanted to, but they would not repair/replace the glass, nor offer a concession in price for me to take care of it. read more

Scheduled for a day/time and got a phone call shortly before pickup appointment indicating they'd be at my house in less than 30 minutes. After verifying my identity (show my license) I clicked through the final documents on their iPad, he did a diagnostic check and drive, then was gone with the vehicle. Carvana sold me a dirty lemon that I had to pay $690 to have shipped to me. I bought and sold a car with Carvana in the same transaction. I had paid $390 to have the new car delivered but the agent called me at the scheduled delivery time and told me that there were "transportation issues" that prevented the car from being delivered. So, I wound up having to drive my trade in 50 minutes to complete the transaction rather than wait a few days to get delivery rescheduled. The sale of my old car was straightforward and there were no problems there. After filling out some paperwork, I was given keys and able to inspect the vehicle. Upon opening the door, I was hit with an overwhelming smell of air freshener; there was definitely a smell that they were trying to mask. Looking around the interior, I could see that the car was very grimy, and that the headliner was sagging and had signs of water damage. I hadn't noticed the headliner in the picture, I thought it was an artifact of the 360-degree camera. Since I didn't have a ride, I took the car home since I could return it in 7 days. On the way home, I stopped by a car wash because both the interior and exterior were very dirty. When I got home, my clothes were permeated with the smell of the air fresheners (I removed about 10 of them from the interior of the car). The next day, I took the car to a dealership to have it inspected and the dealership found numerous issues including leaking oil pan, a coolant leak, a leaky thermostat housing, suspension issues, and a faulty sensor that made the adaptive cruise control inoperable. There was also a gap in the panel on the trunk door that contributed to a rattling when driving over bumps. The total for repairing all of these items was ~$5K. Add to that the cost of replacing the headliner and other interior pieces. I decided to return the car, but I am stuck having to pay a $690 non-refundable shipping fee. Carvana's website touts a 150-point inspection process which made me feel more comfortable shipping the car. But it seems as though that process was more of a rubber stamp. The vehicle was not cleaned or detailed and there were several mechanical issues that should have been detected. Lesson learned, don't pay to ship cars to you because you never know what you'll get. I will never use Carvana to buy a car again. read more

The site says the person at the location will remove the plates for me, but when I arrived and the phone call I received, they said you have to take off your own plates. They provided the tools to remove the plates. I think if the site says they will remove them, than they should uphold to that. Really great site for a sell overall. read more

My experience was from online and not at this specific location. Horrible customer service. I set up an at home appointment from window 11-2. Was emailed for window confirmation. I waited at home 11-2. No show. No call or text. When I called customer after waiting 30 minutes to a snotty customer service representative that was trying to be nice but she wasn't. She shared with me that they showed up at 8am at my home. And called me three times with text messages and never left me a VM. My appointment was 11am. Not 8am. Then I shared I had a deceased signer on tittle with a death certificate. And after all this they would not accept that. So I called carmax. EzPz, they said sure bring the car over we will accept a death certificate. I will say the offer was higher at caravan than car as by $1500. However dealing with that lack of customer service. Just spent $28k on a 2018 Subaru Outback, and at first I was so excited that I overlooked the blotchy interior stains from some really bad detailing, and the horrible detailer smell (like baby wipes, but more potent) that still linger in the car a month later. I also figured the window that didn't roll down on the passenger side wasn't really a big deal and a reset would fix it. After all, the vehicle had passed multiple diagnostics and Carvana quality inspections with flying colors. Then, after less than 50 miles driven, the car battery died. When I opened the hood (which I know is a cardinal sin no to do so earlier), the battery was totally corroded, and the terminals were fully junked with battery acid. Clearly an expired battery that should have been replaced during inspection. The solve? I have to find a shop and schedule an appointment for another inspection, which MIGHT end with SilverRock replacing the battery with a $100 copay (no promises or precedents to point to though, just kind of up to them). The worst part now is that I have to second guess all of the QC and inspections, and the peace of mind is completely gone. I'm now weighing the pros and cons of having to return this vehicle. read more
