I've now both bought and sold cars with Carvana, and honestly, I can't imagine doing either one with a "normal" dealership ever again. Purchase (2020): 30 minutes online and two days later, car was here. Exactly as described, friendly driver, and you can't beat the 7 day return policy. Still driving the blue Phantom yet today. Right there, I was sold on purchasing through them the next time I know exactly what I want. Sale (two weeks ago): consistently the best offer received from any other dealership over six months of refreshing bids, and also an offer that a "car guy" in my life told me to jump on, and probably 15 minutes to arrange the sale once I finally committed. To be frank, I could've gotten more private party due to the expensive aftermarket parts on it, but I didn't have the time or wherewithal to value them and find a buyer who'd appreciate them, so with that in mind, Carvana consistently offered the best price. (As in, literal thousands more than Carmax.) In this case I chose to drop off, and despite being delayed due to a walk-in who'd left something in the car he'd dropped off two days prior with staff dropping everything to help him get that item back (he should add my missing star), my process once they could see me took about 30 minutes including photos and test drive - and the woman who helped me with it was not only a super gregarious, kind lady, but steered me away from a purchase I was considering in the future. And I trust her, because I was going against other reviews of the car that warned the same - so when she warned as well, I took that particular make/model/year off my list. We also chatted about other things and she was just fantastic - I wish I'd caught her name so I could call her out here. My missing star isn't for this location, but for corporate: While dude was waiting for them to find his car and I was waiting for them to find it so I could proceed with my transaction, we got to talking. He lamented forgetting a very expensive package in his truck, and I told him I'd done three passes through my car before bringing it in to prevent the same thing, and wished him well. It was only after my uber driver (Eduardo deserves his own five star review, but I took care of him through uber/tip) dropped me off at home that I realized, "D'OH!" i'd left my garage door opener on the visor. Now, I could have and should have just driven back, but I thought this would be an easy enough problem to resolve - unlike the other guy, I'd just dropped my car an hour ago. Even though the Westminster carvana has a local number posted on their entrance, I stupidly didn't think to capture it (actually, I thought to capture it, but thought, "nah, I can find it online" - nope, I couldn't), so I was left with calling corporate, which left me dealing with an call center who had no interest in helping me and frankly, I don't think even understood what I was asking. After 45 minutes, I was finally assured they'd sent a message to the location and said location would get back to me with how to retrieve my item - whether show up there, or they'd mail it. This was a Sunday, so I dutifully waited till Monday. Then Tuesday. By then, I figured there was no point in calling or showing up to delay OTHERS' transactions (as was my experience with dude that day) because the car was probably enroute to Arizona, so now I'm awaiting the arrival of a garage company to recode my door and give me new clickers. This was my fault for not just going back to get the damn clicker, but I'm dropping a star for how impossible Carvana makes it to reach someone local. If you sell with them, do better than me and dude and take EVERYTHING OUT. Otherwise, I have nothing but positive things to say. read more

I'm still in disbelief that the Attroney General Bonta cataloged my complaint with solid proof for signature fraud...cataloged! I guess he waiting for it to happen to others by Carvana. The vehicle never seen a 120 point inspection per the report from Volvo the window wipers were dry rotted and the tires tread was below safe driving regulations per California Vehicle Code Section 27465. This was also reported to the Attorney Bonta with the inspection report provided by Volvo in my second letter to his office for assistance with the illegal sale of this car from Carvana. He replied and again denied me any assistance against them. I guess Governor Newson's laws aren't that powerful in protecting consumers from automobile dealerships. See photos of inspection. So guess this is really only good for newer, popular cars with no issues. My car is 14 and has mechanical issues. Their offer was low but above others, so I selected it. But here's the rub, if your car's registration needs to be renewed within 75 days of the offer, they require you to renew it! Yes. For a car you won't even own any longer. On top of that, don't even think of going with Carvana if you have an engine light on and it needs to be smoged first. That was my case and the problem is, it won't pass a smog test if there is an engine light on - so no registration, renewal. The only way around it to fix the issue so the light goes off, but then you'll need to drive it 200-300 miles in order for all smog categories to sync up again. I don't know about you, but the whole purpose of selling the car is because it was time to put money into a new car, not repair the old one in order to get paid by Carvana. Good news is Carmax, Autonation and most all others do not require you to renew registration, but the tags on the car do need to be current. Argh! The price isn't as good, but at least I didn't have to repair it! What a waste of time. Why would they even "qualify" me to give a price when they see I have an engine light with issues that need repaired! Just NO to Carvana! read more

I see why there are so many bad reviews of this location. I would never buy a car this way again. I was trading in my a car and buying a used one and the automated systems at the start of the process on their website was a huge time sink. I had to upload the SAME documents multiple times plus I had to call them repeatedly to credit me for the payment I made a week in advance. I had to wait for at least 15 minutes on the phone each time and sometimes the 'sales advocates' (what an Orwellian title) are in Arizona and sometimes in Guatamala. But the worst was yet to come. When we went to get the car at their glass tower in Westminster we had to deal with Ollie, who was one of the rudest, most ignorant car sales dudes I've ever met. He consistently interrupted me and talked over me while insisting he was treating me 'with respect'. I guess his notion of 'respect' is not the same as the rest of the planet. Plus he kept talking gibberish about 'cookie jars'. Perhaps that's why he's selling cars for a living. The only reason I didn't walk out was because I had already paid for the car ahead of time and had read numerous online reviews about how hard it is to get your money back. Carvana? We sold our vehicle to Carvana and everything was incredibly easy... except the dealer payoff request process. Carvana had everything they needed from us, and we called our lienholder to allow Carvana to request the payoff information. I then chatted with a Carvana live agent to tell them the approval was given (which is what their instructions said to do). They said it's noted on the account and that they "have it from here." They in fact did not have it. I checked in daily and was told the same thing. After 5 days I had to speak to a representative, who essentially said they dropped the ball. She had our ticket escalated and we had the sale approval in less than 24 hours. This delay ended up costing us a deal that we had negotiated on our new vehicle. Carvana did have the best buyout offer (by far) so that made the hassle sort of worth it. They picked up the vehicle and we had our funds deposited in less than 48 hours. There is definitely room for improvement on this process, but we would consider Carvana for a similar transaction in the future, especially now that we know how we need to navigate it. read more

First off, the gentleman and lady that came to my house to pick up the car were great. That is why this is 2 stars and not 1 star. The customer service on the phone and chat are NOT customer service oriented. They seem to only be asset protection and let me tell you why. Although they seemed kind and not rude, they did NOT want to help or were NOT EMPOWERED to help me. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. I have a very valid reason to be upset, I set up the appointment which was about a week away. They came within the time promised at 4:30pm, however THEY DID NOT HAVE MY CHECK WITH THEM! Customer service CANNOT DO ANYTHING TO HELP! Nobody was able to just convert my payment to ACH, or offer any other assistance to this HUGE INCONVENIENCE, they all just said sorry. I was told they can take my car and I can go the next day to get a new check, or drive the car 17-20 miles the next day to drop it off at the vending machine. That's it. Those are my only options. Also, they signed my title already so I asked if I was able to even sell it to someone else but I could NOT unless I paid for and ordered a NEW title which takes WEEKS for in California and it is most likely not that easy and would take far more time than I want. I asked for some compensation for all this headache and all they said was sorry. I seriously said 'Like not even $100?" NOTHING. Had to wait an entire week for another pickup time, paid more on insurance and earned less money in my savings for all this too. Good luck to anyone. Very smooth and quick transaction. I was actually pretty happy originally with my car buying experience with Carvana which sucks that it has came down to me having to leave this review. After picking up the vehicle I took it in for an inspection with an authorized dealer who found 2 things that needed immediate attention. The first was that the front suspension bushing needed replacement and the second was that a brake fluid flush was due the month before I purchased the car. Thier warranty covered the bushing but refused to cover the brake fluid flush. I tried to reason with them that this was part of required safety related maintenance that is mandated by California state law but they did not cover it and this was completely wrong on their part. I arrived before my scheduled appointment time, but still had to wait 20 minutes to speak to my advocate. My truck did not fit in the vending machine, so I did not have that experience. Nevertheless, Carvana's pre-pickup email promised that they would still "dazzle" me. Rather, the truck was not even washed after an uncovered cross-country trip. I noticed several spots of damaged not included in their pictures. WARNING: Their pictures will show nicks the size of Lincoln's nose on a penny and totally omit 2x1/4 inch long scratches. When I pointed that out, as well as several parts being right out missing (also not noted at all on the car profile) and a key just shattering in my hand the first time I turned it, the advocate just shrugged. Clearly I was meant to just drive away no matter the condition, as I had already paid so what was I going to do. Carvana loves to advertise no haggling. What that really means is that they will not let you discuss price adjustments no matter how inaccurately they described the vehicle before sale. With their non-refundable shipping fee policy, they make a quick $2,000 every time someone backs out, as there is no other recourse. They could do this with the same vehicle several times! Combined with the no haggle or price adjustment, very very shady. Lastly, there were two extremely strong air fresheners, which when removed revealed a strong urine odor. When I performed my own inspection (**do not trust Carvana's inspection**), I found that the cabin air filter was original, filthy, and lived in. Thus, everything going through the HVAC was being impregnated with urine smell. Changing that filter helped, but I still need shampoo, odor eliminator, and maybe more -- much more than their heavy masking. I point out that this "passed" their odor check, and, if even performed, their cabin air filter check. To say the least, I was not dazzled. I don't know how much of this should be attributed to this location, the original location, or Carvana in general, but I would only recommend using them if you find a unicorn of a vehicle. I won't further comment about the non-refundable shipping fee regardless of actual shipping, which I understand is out of this location's control, and is more of a Carvana policy. I also won't comment about the truck itself, which is beyond Carvana's control except for what I described above. read more

I will never do business with CARVANA again! FALSE CHECK! I sold my car to them May 16, 2025 gave me a check for my car (the selling process was easy & fast). Deposit the check Saturday May 17th 2025 & then still had to wait until Tuesday 20th for it to be "deposited". I went out and purchased a new car the same day from one day to another Wednesday morning may 21st 2025 my account was OVER drafted ! The check was declined by their bank (WELLS FARGO). I immediately went back to the Westminster hub upset, of course. The associate they're helping me was so helpful. Now, as far as the employees in customer service they kept giving me false information, and a runaround about me receiving a check in 3-5 business days I don't understand how they could make this so much difficult than the process was to purchase the car.
