Ya I know it's basic but Carvel has become a go-to spot for whenever I get a craving for soft serve. Not gonna mention how often that's become this summer, but when $3 gets you a good serving of vanilla or Ghirardelli chocolate on a fresh cone, I can't resist. I was a little hesistant to try their promotional Ghirardelli flavor because chocolate soft serve is a miss more often than a hit, but I'm totally a fan. I think it's labeled as dark chocolate, but while it tastes akin to a semisweet bar (30% cacao or less), that's still way more chocolatey than your typical soft serve. Service is just fine, I've never seen it packed, and this location is a 4 minute walk from my home. What more can you ask? (Besides making pints/quarts to bring home.) I'm not sure I would go for the regular ice cream because it looks pretty meh, but it's great knowing a cone of soft serve is so close to me! read more

After a frustrating search for a Carvel that can execute a large Birthday sheet cake, modifying the football field motif to a Golf Course (not very difficult, but very well done), 'Ben' was more then helpful. Polite. (After experiencing 'not helpful' to 'outright rude' this was refreshing) Had ready for pickup when promised and the store is clean and large. (Avoid the hybrid Carvel/Subway - they are awful) and check Yelp, as there is significant franchise variation with Carvel. If you need a Carvel Bday cake, can drive to Woodside, this is the place! read more

The Asian woman here holds onto your ice cream as if you're going to steal it, so have your money in hand. Store needs a cleaning, bathroom filthy and graffiti covered. Perfect place to get a quick ice cream fix! Its never too busy and the attendants are very friendly. There choices could benefit a bit more but its fine. This place saved my a$$ in a matter of minutes! I had bought an edible cake picture and neglected to find a bakery to buy sheet cake from until the day of the party. That day happened to be Easter. Since Carvel is near me and I figured they would have ice cream sheet cakes, I ran in there in a panic and though they were unusually busy on this hot day, I got assistance right away. The lady said she would definitely be able to apply the picture on a cake, and within 3 minutes I was able to leave with a beautiful cake + custom frosting around the edge. Skipped dessert at Donovan's & headed half a block north to Carvel. This location is open till 10:30 on most nights & has a great selection frozen treats. There are a few tables and the decorations have a slightly nostalgic vibe (Ohai Fudgey the Whale). The soft serve here is unreal. Sweet, creamy perfection; it's undoubtedly the best I've ever had. Came for BOGO on National Ice Cream Day. Fantastic bargain. This is a great shop. The staff are so very welcoming. Space is clean and has nice decor with a homey seating area. Tried the Snickers and my hubby went for classic chocolate-vanilla twist. Oh and on this day when the temperature says 102, they have drip guards for the cones! read more

It's kinda difficult to differentiate one Carvel from another when it comes to reviewing. I'm pretty sure that the recipe for the ice cream is basically standard across all Carvels. Also because the turnover for the counter people seems to be pretty high can't really judge on that either. But one thing i have noticed, is the fact that their ice cream cakes are really top notch. What is it that makes it so great? well have you had a Carvel cake before? Chocolate icecream on the bottom and Vanilla Ice cream on top... separated by crunch... quite possibly the most delicious part of the cake. I have no idea why! well this carvel is not cheap about it. they give a generous amount of crunch in there. if you've had a Carvel cake you know that's a good thing, a very good thing... and if you haven't... well... you need to get your act together! read more

This Carvel is in a seedy part of the neighborhood on Roosevelt Ave. The soft ice cream lived up my memories of eating at Carvel when I was a kid. The decor is just weird. Bad color palate. Pretty good ice cream cakes here. I only eat ice cream cakes from carvel because baskin robbins has always disappointed me. I hope this place never is like Baskin Robbins in the future. They are great and open for helping you making a good choice. They helped me great on choosing a birthday cake as there are so many different shapes and possibilities are available to choose from.
