I came in an hour before closing on Saturday. Went to the bar and immediately was able to see as it was empty. I opted for the red sangria and too my surprise it was very sweet. I prefer a more natural sangria so for me. I opted for the filet and lobster tail with Mac & cheese. The filet had a strong grill flavor and was pretty undercooked and more of a medium rare rather than medium. Not really my taste but my partner enjoyed it at home. The lobster was cooked great just wish it had butter. The Mac & cheese was surprisingly the best! The crunchy breadcrumbs on top were perfect. The potato's were great too and perfect with the melted butter. For coming in less than an hour before close I wasn't disappointed. read more

Went here for a Sunday lunch with my boyfriend and his grandma. I loved how much food we got. Got left overs. The wait after ordering was a tiny bit longer than expected especially because it didn't seem that busy. I'm not one to really complain about that though with a business as I know some have their busy days but just something to note of. Grandma gave me a warning that they usually don't put enough sour cream on the baked potato, making it semi dry. So she ordered extra for me and her. Additionally she requested for A1 sauce. After about 10-20 minutes we noticed they never brought it out so we reasked for it and then it was quickly brought out. A starter salad came before my lemon chicken and it was pretty solid and they had a lot of dressing options. Ended up going with the white balsamic. The chicken was pretty divine. That lemon on top paired so nicely with it. The baked potato was good but I agree with Grandma that they could do a little more with the toppings to reduce that dryness. Still was enjoyable though. My days of going to Longhorn started back in Maryland with my female coworkers when it was "cow day" or "we're having hormones, so it's time for red meat and chocolate (referring to the chocolate stampede cake). Not a great experience tonight. We were seated, waited a very long time for a waiter who apparently has no name (he never said). He took drink orders, asked if we were ready, took the order with zero interest or personality. We never saw him again except when we flagged him to ask for ketchup. We went here tonight for a work dinner. The place was packed! We got there easily to get our name on the waiting list for our party of 11. They did seat us fairly close to the time we were aiming for. We had two servers and i have to say the service was very good. They kept up on everyone's drinks and were attentive to removing empty plates. We ordered two appetizers...one was a spinach dip and the other was a shrimp one. I didn't try either of them, but the people in our party said they were both very good. I ordered Flo's filet. The meat was perfectly cooked and very tender. It came with one side and a salad. I had the sweet potatoe and Cesar salad. Both were delicious. I've heard they give you complimentary bread and butter.. but unfortunately we didn't get that. I would have liked to try it. We also ordered several desserts. Personally i ordered the lava cake. It was definitely very rich...but very good with the vanilla ice cream. The place has a very western interior and the lighting is cooler. The only downside for me was the pricing and the fact that they don't have prime rib...which is my favorite meat dish. This was our first time trying this restaurant. I really wanted a steak and saw this place while we drove home. So we pulled it. It was about 7:30pm on a Friday night. This location looked nice and while not crowded it looked lively. We had a wait a bit for someone to notice us and get us seated. The food was extremely reasonably priced. I had a salad and loaded baked potato with the Outlaw Ribeye. The food was better than I had expected. Only drawback was our server. He wasn't friendly or personable. Probably the 8th time coming here and this time was by far the best service and food we had yet. Food and apps came out in a timely manner. Steaks were cooked to request of medium rare. Salmon was soft and the shrimp were delicious. Spinach dip is always a good choice and comes with a lot of pita bread. We came here for a casual dinner on a Saturday night, and started off with the value Jack and joke and their margarita for $5. I must say, for their drinks it was delicious for the price with the right amount of alcohol! We saw there was a new appetizer which was Parmesan crusted spinach dip. My fiancé LOVES spinach dip so of course we had to get this. It was so delicious! The bread that came with it was amazing, it was crispy and chewy and fit so perfectly with the dip. Our entrees were half rack of ribs with signature Mac and cheese and i got the 12 oz ribeye with mash potatoes. So to start off with our meats, the ribs had like such little meat on it. It was good, but we felt like it could of had more meat. My ribeye was cooked to perfection!! The downer was that I thought my mash potatoes would be loaded as the waiter mentioned but it was not, it was actually very tasteless and it could definitely up a notch. My elderly mother and her friend were at the Midvale location of Longhorn today. Mom ordered French fries and a side salad. Friend ordered the salmon entree with side salad. Friend received salad right away. Mom received nothing. She asked if she would be getting her salad as well, "No, it comes out with the other sides as an entree." Bad policy. Friend sat there in front of mom and uncomfortably picked at her salad. Waitress should be able to serve both parties at the table the salads at the same time. The logical thing to do. Entrees arrived. The French fries were so salty that they were inedible. Friend agreed that they could not be eaten. Mom resorted to rubbing the salt off of the fries with her napkin but only managed to eat maybe 5 fries. Server brought tabs. Mom chased down the waitress and asked that because the fries were too salty to eat that the item be removed from the bill. Manager returned to argue with Mom that "Food at our restaurant is HIGHLY SEASONED. It says so right on the menu." "You should have asked for no salt." "Why didn't you tell the server when it arrived?" She had not had the chance to taste the fries yet and the server never came back to ask how things were. The issues were made right by the manager taking both items off of the bill, but it was obviously done begrudgingly. We will remember next time, when looking for lunch, and we will take our business elsewhere. read more

The quick lowdown: I had some of the most energetic and fun service I can remember with the gregarious and attentive Nicole as server. I took the time to compliment her to the GM while I was there, so ask for her! My strip steak was not cooked accurately. I asked for a medium and received a product toeing the line between medium well and well. This was not the end of the world as I ate the steak but I was a bit disappointed that a steak house wouldn't get that one right. Nevertheless, my wife's filet was done perfectly as requested. I'll just chalk it up to a random error, as I would expect a strip to be easier to nail than a juicy filet. I took 2 stars off for this as this was the entire point of visiting. I elected for the salad with vinaigrette and was pleased to see that the lettuce base and accompanying veggie toppings were bright and crisply fresh. It was delicious. Often I've seen greens that were prematurely aging on the tips because the thawing was a problem but not here. The restaurant was clean and I love the atmosphere here--fashionably dim with western art and textures that suit the theme and aren't kitschy. read more

Sad experience. First, the good: Our mac and cheese appetizers, side salad, and spinach parmesan dip were very good, very flavorable. Now, the bad: First, our server apparently had no reason to smile at us or show the slightest hint that he enjoyed his job. We treated him kindly, even though he appeared indifferent to making our visit a pleasant experience. We even had to remind him to bring our complimentary bread loaf but only after we had finished our appetizer and salads. Finally, all four of us ordered the 12 oz. ribeye steak. All four of us questioned whether we had actually received ribeyes; each steak was thin, salty, and gristly (without exception). I've had superb steak from other steak houses, including the "Texas" competitor; all were superior and flavorful (not to mention less expensive) than the ones served to us. It's a sad day when an establishment can foist on us a so-called piece of tasteless meat and call it a ribeye. I should have gone with my first inclination and ordered the parmesan crusted chicken. Who knows, perhaps IT would have justified the $165 (including the tip) we paid for our dinners. read more

Visited on 02/12/23 with a friend. I ended up ordering the tenderloin w/ a lobster tail. I ordered the brussel sprouts for the side, and the lava cake for dessert. I enjoyed all of it. I kind of wish they had some bougie steak sauces, but lemon and salt have always been my go-to for steak seasoning. The brussel sprouts were cooked well, I love that crispy texture. It pains me to have to dog on Longhorn because every time my wife and I have visited this location and dined in we've had a great experience. Today I worked a double shift so my wife and I decided to place a to-go order... I won't be doing that again. Dine-in is the only way to go here. My wife was missing her side and instead was given two side salads, and I was given loaded baked potato toppings in a 4 oz sauce cup with a yam. Lol. Small mistakes overall, but the fact that neither of us got a side with our entree made it not worth the $40 price tag. I'll remember not to try a to-go order again from here! read more

At my office, we go to Longhorn frequently. I took a new hire to lunch here and fortunately I ordered an appetizer so we had something to eat. After over 45 minutes we still had not received our main meals (salads!). I told my new hire we'd have to get it to go and they'd have to eat it at their desk because I had a meeting to go to. I would have cancelled the order if I was alone. When the salads came I immediately asked for to-go containers because it took too long. There was no response from the server, no recognition that the speed of service was unacceptable, definitely no apologies. I usually like going there because you can have a discussion with your companions, but that's all we got this visit, just time to talk. read more

I chose Longhorn for my birthday meal after having such a delicious meal there on our first visit. I ordered the exact same meal as the first time simply because it was so good! A full rack of baby back ribs with their wonderful sauce. On my first visit the ribs were hot and tender and full of flavor. This time the ribs were served tough and cold and the sauce was dried on them indicating they were cooked and then refrigerated the previous day. We'd waited quite a while since it was a Saturday night and I was starving so I ate about half of them before asking for them to be warmed up. About 10-15 minutes later they came back, just slightly warm this time but without my loaded baked potato that I'd only taken 3 or 4 bites of. I mentioned it to the waitress but she just said "I told them to save that" but she didn't get it for me or replace it. I went to Longhorns for the first time on a Saturday afternoon with a group of 6 people. The restaurant was mostly empty, with a single server and with a few tables seated scattered across the dining hall. We were the largest group there, which surprised me for a Saturday afternoon. This is my first time in Utah, so I figured maybe the flow of business is different here. I noticed that there appeared to be a bar, and so the first question I asked the server is "do you have a full bar?" She says "yes." I wanted an old fashioned, so before getting my hopes up I asked "do you have bitters?" She responded "no." Not a problem, I just ordered a scotch and soda instead. The best I can describe my scotch and soda is that it was a scotch flavored soda water. I would definitely order a double next time, whatever scotch was used was not great. Most of my companions ordered mango margaritas, all of which were returned and either swapped for another drink or they requested for the item to be taken off their bill. According to them there was very little mango flavor and the flavor was mostly citrus. The waitress was very gracious about it and happy to do so. I ordered the chicken with the garlic Parmesan sauce on top. It was very flavorful albeit a bit dry. I overall was underwhelmed by the quality of food. My companions ordered steaks and lamb, the lamb was all the rave, while my friend had to have a new steak cooked because she ordered medium rare and received a medium well steak. I give serious kudos to our server. She did her absolute best to make sure that our needs were met and that she addressed any issues graciously all the while being the only server in the room. I have a lot of empathy for the excellent work that she did that evening. Would I go back to Longhorns? Maybe if someone else was paying, but for me I feel like I did not get enough value for the price, especially when I compare my experience to other local restaurants. read more

Omg!!! My steak to die for juicy not burnt and wow was big enough for my lunch the next day. I love their salad their dressing is nice and thick and their fresh bread YUM!!!! Prices are sort of steep but it's worth the $. The staff so friendly our waiter was so nice. I went there after peak hours which was nice because it was not crazy busy and it was good to take my time and enjoy the food. The music they play so nice and the decor great! Well, after a phone call with the manager over my previous visit and Yelp! review and the generous offer of a gift certificate to encourage me to give the Longhorn another try, we ventured in again. The manager asked me to let him know when we would be coming, but I didn't want the red carpet rolled out - I was interested in getting a real experience. Things were better than the first visit, but the problems with this place obviously run deep. For starters, we tried to call ahead to see about table availability, but nobody answered the phone after multiple attempts. When we arrived, a hostess with no name tag met us at the hostess stand - no smile, no greeting at all, just a stare as though we were causing her some sort of pain. I had to ask her if she needed a name and number after she told us flatly that it would be a 30 minute wait with that look that said "Please, tell me that's too long to wait and that you're headed to Buca instead!" [She was probably not the main hostess because another young lady was manning the hostess stand a few minutes after we checked in and we saw the original young lady busing tables later that evening.] The nice thing was that we ended up waiting for only 5 minutes. I thanked the new hostess after she sat us and she smiled but did not reply - so odd. Parker was the server. He had great timing initially when greeting us, bringing sodas, waters, and bread, but then things went completely south when he brought the entrees when we were not yet halfway done with our salads and appetizer and had us remind him of who ordered what! On our table for 4, there was no room to fit the entrees along with the appetizers and salads so we ended up finishing those while holding the plates on our laps! Parker was good to refill our Cokes but did not refill our empty water glasses for some reason. Food was better this time - didn't have to send anything back, although could have if we were really picky. The fruit and pecan salad was great! The potato soup was good. The Mac and Cheese was really tasty. We had a couple of Ribeye steaks and they were decent. The Filet was low-quality meat and prepared M rather than MR as requested. The 4oz lobster tail that came with the surf and tuft filet reminds one of why you shouldn't usually get lobster in Utah. If you care about service, it appears from our two visits that you might want to look elsewhere. The food quality and preparation is inconsistent across our two experiences. They could use some personality at the hostess stand for sure. read more
