    Rolls
    Katie W.

While the service was excellent and the food was tasty, I decided to give this location 2/5 stars because of the person making the rolls. I sat toward the window where I could see the rolls being made. I saw the person who was in charge of making, cutting, and rolling the dough texting on her phone with her blue gloves that she had been wearing when preparing the rolls. Of course, cell phones are dirty. Time Magazine wrote that cell phones are 10 times dirtier than a toilet seat. I do not know if there was cross contamination because I did not see her change her gloves, but she was texting at her station and I didn't not see her leave her station. I later saw her texting with her bare hands. I will likely not return to this Texas Roadhouse location.

Texas Roadhouse is pretty awesome. Can never go wrong with steak. This location though is always busy though but it's fine, we were able to get accommodated within 45 minutes even though they said it was a 20 minute wait. Also just keep in mind about how much "extra" toppings or whatever cost when you order steak, baked potatoes, mashed potatoes, etc. when the waitress asks if you want onions or mushrooms on your steak or if you want your sides "loaded", those will be additional in cost. Easy to be overlooked when they ask you. I ordered a medium rare rib eye and it came out nice was awesome and juicy. My wife ordered a sirloin with bbq chicken combo while our little one ordered mac and cheese. Everything was good! Keep in mind ambiance of the place can get loud at times.

You can't really go wrong at a Texas Roadhouse. I just wish service was more consistent here. My family and I have been several times and we either get phenomenal service or crappy service. When we get crappy service it's really disappointing because when we have good service you just expect that all the time and it really sucks when you don't get it. Example of phenomenal service: Drinks come or we are asked if we want refills pretty fast, even before we are empty. Checked in on several times, they're super friendly and personable, they ask if we want more bread vs us asking for more bread. When I get great service where I am tipping in the upwards of 25% .. crappy service I am at around 18%. Food has always been good here, very consistent and tasty. Texas Roadhouse is generally our safe family go to restaurant when we can't all decide where we want to go.

After a day of skiing we stopped by Texas Roadhouse. I don't remember ever coming here, but it is fantastic! It was busy (Christmas Eve) but we were seated quickly! FAST Review Food: We were seated with a batch of amazing dinner rolls with honey butter! A bag of peanuts and quickly got our drinks. A couple of Juicy IPA's and a Mango Margarita. We ordered the Smokehouse burger, pulled pork sandwich and a 6oz sirloin. The burgers and sandwich were huge, very messy and great. The 6oz sirloin tasted amazing. Atmosphere: it was Christmas Eve, there weren't many places open, but I was so impressed with how well the team there took care of us. It was relatively noisy, but too overwhelming and there are TVs all over. Looks like they have great bar seating too. Service: our server Danny was amazing. Super fun, energetic and very attentive. Seating, Drinks and food all happened super fast and there was still a line out the door when we left. Tip: as our daughter would say for the price conscious the 6oz sirloin with 2 sides is a great meal. Seems she visits there often, but I have to say overall the meal for the 3 of us was a great price. With 25% tip our meal cost $86.

Normally this place is great except this time we found a dead cricket in our salad. The manager came over to tell us they clean their salads thoroughly. Whelp...evidently not. Straight up nasty

They have fallen into the trap of "let's offer a variety of things to appeal to everyone" which naturally turns into, not doing anything well because the kitchen staff is trying to do too many things. They have everything from nachos, Enchiladas, fish & chips, steaks, pasta, flatbread, fish, salads and a mish-mash of appetizers. I ordered the "blackened salmon". It was. It blackened but lightly seasoned and pan fried and literally downing in butter. The mashed potato it came with were not creamed potatoes but had so much butter, that much can't be eaten as all the butter in the dish is so overwhelming. Other At my table got prime rib and pastas. They don't really say much about them after they got them, which isn't a great sign. The ambiance was probably nice at one point, but the place really needs a remodel. My advice is to narrow down the menu so the kitchen can focus on doing a fixed number of items really well. Then maybe have a rotating weekly or monthly special if you want to keep the menu fresh. Too many things means nothing is done well. If they update the menu in this way I would try them again, otherwise I have no reason to return based on this experience.

"Don't worry honey, it's okay to look, and also throw money at the half-naked women! I promise you won't get in trouble!" Uh-huh. ;) Alright, I digress. Awkwardness aside, Prohibition is a really great place to enjoy a classy dinner, where the meat is served on a place AND on stage, and the cheesecake comes with the price of admission! Speaking of admission, as my wife and I were guests, being shepherded along by our friend, I cannot recall exactly what the "cover charge" was (not much, if I remember correctly...less than $20 for two?), and if reservations are *required*, I cannot say for certain, but I would say they are *recommended* at the very least, because our showtime was packed. Anyway, once paid, you are escorted through a secret bookcase door (SLC residents sure do love their speakeasies, don't they?), and into the dining hall and saloon, where you're soon to have your socks knocked off...well, someone's clothes are coming off, anyway! We were given a table that I dismissively thought was tucked away pretty far in the back and out of the way, but it ended up being one of the best seats in the house, as the table where the performers gathered, prepped, and returned to was just adjacent to us, so we were about as up close and personal as you can get, without getting yourselves arrested. Each of the dancers brought their own style, flair, and wardrobe to their performances, which were spirited and energetic, and a touch racy, without devolving into outright debauchery. It may be an (18+? 21+?) venue, but alcohol restrictions aside, I wouldn't hesitate to take older, more mature teens to a show with similar content. We ordered a smattering of smaller dishes, as we weren't particularly hungry, but the Mishima Wagyu tacos were fantastic (as you would expect), as was the Fedora Fin (Za'atar-crusted ahi tuna), and all of our cocktails. As the show is timed event with multiple performances per night, both food and bev are fired out of the kitchen/bar faster than the bullets from a Tommy Gun, but with far better accuracy. The whole operation here was honestly very impressive, from start to finish. Coming from a progressive city like Portland, it's always struck me a little odd that places that, by reputation, strike you as more conservative end up having some of the best, most wild entertainment venues, that you only wish you had back home. Prohibition is one of these places that I would rather see in my downtown, instead of the litany of seedy strip joints pushing for maximum titilation, but with only a fraction of the class and sophistication. Prohibition is good, clean fun, masquerading as something illicit, which is the heart of what makes it work so well.

The restaurant is beautiful with fancy light up menus which is needed because it's pretty dark inside. I ordered the beef ribs and my husband ordered the picanha. Both came out extremely tough and chewy. My daughter had to spit out her bite because she got tired of chewing so we had to cut each piece into 1/2 cm pieces for it to be palatable. I've been to Brazilian steak houses before and beef ribs are usually the most tender and flavorful especially when there is bone. The server did say it was going to on the chewy side but I didn't think he was serious. Like why would you make meat intentionally chewy? For a $50 dish that came with no sides and worse than what we've made at home it's pretty disappointing. We also ordered a side of the grilled veggies which had some veggies that were so bitter and others that were undercooked and no seasoning. The purple yams were decent and the coquettes but again the pricing for each was exorbitant. Also because they have a somewhat open kitchen style concept the dining room got extremely hot and we were just dying to get out quickly. For two entrees, two sides, one app, a bottle of water and glass of wine a bill of $225 was not worth it. Sadly not a great experience.

A gentleman finally got up to go strike a match under someone's year end. The young female server comes over half grumpily with a slight wannabe smile, and takes our drink order. She brings most of the drinks fairly quickly. But doesn't even attempt to ask if we're ready to order and we've been there 25ish minutes waiting?! The grill across from us got sat after us and by the time she came back to see if we were ready to order, they were done with the show and eating. *InsertEyeRoll*. She took our orders, repeating them and went on her way and shortly returned with our soup and salad. A few more minutes go by just barely before our cook shows up. He gets asking about everyone's orders and meat preference. Awesome. He starts his show, as always... scrambled eggs and rice first right?! Unfortunately, out of 8 of us 7 ordered fried rice, one steamed. Server brought out steamed rice to the one, and cook dishes out 5 bowls of fried rice. Two of us question where our rice was. So they have to prep and cook in the kitchen. Like WTAF?! But whatever... Cook was good, but not overly funny. He didn't even use the funny oil peeing boy (IYKYK) which my 9yo old always gets excited about. Food was cooked just right IMO but server never came back to refill drinks or see if we needed anything. They don't have yum yum sauce it's something much runnier which was disappointing. After the cook was done, they were practically rushing us out, by picking up plates, offering boxes, and setting new clean dishwater near the grill. I'm glad that they are efficient, but where's my server? Where's my water & wine refill? For a Friday evening and NOT very busy, I was really bummed for how horrible our experience and service was. This is one of the best teppanyaki restaurants around. This server didn't do her job and our last 5 star experience turned to a 3 star and was underwhelming sadly.
