Casa Bella is one of the top Italian restaurants in little Italy. I grew up on the lower east side and have been going to eat there for many years. I have tried other restaurants on that strip and nothing is as good. Food is fresh! Tasty! Staff is great and very accommodating. I recently went again for dinner last week and my waiter Eugen was awesome. I love when a waiter gets my exact order right (even down to the 3 limes in my drink!) Great place for big groups too. The food itself isn't extraordinary though, and I feel like there are a lot of other great options, especially being in New York City. The interior is really pretty. We wanted some authentic Italian food so we went to little Italy in New York. When you walked down the strip, there's going to be a lot of people that are going to try to reel you into the restaurants and try their food, but please do not fall for it and please do your research on every single restaurant on the strip. The food here was (in my opinion) not authentic and tasted like any other regular Italian food. Service was fine, but the food was so disappointing. Please don't fall for these traps! The location is really convenient and if you want to sit outside to eat you can while catching views of Little Italy. The staff are friendly and nice. The food was mid. Not much flavor. This is a fraudulent restaurant that steals money from their customers! Aside from the food and service being horrible, the restaurant modified my reciept to give themselves a 10% increase on their tip. I called to resolve the issue and ended up getting a picture of the reciept that was blatantly modified by the server. The numbers weren't even legible because of how they scribbled over my writing. When I called and got upset that they stole from me, they had the audacity to call me rude and yell at me. read more

We stopped here for drinks while waiting for a friend. Very clean restaurant and restrooms. The drinks were fantastic - works of art! One of the best espresso martinis that I've ever had. The only reason for 3 stars (not 5) is because we had no idea a change of shift happened. The first bartender was awesome! Very friendly, outgoing, gracious - 5 stars! Eventually, we were left waiting for our bill. We gave the new bartender the credit card to pay for our tab - he left to go somewhere else - came back without our credit card, no words at all and started making drinks. Weird. A couple minutes later someone totally dressed down came to us at the bar with our credit card and a credit card slip to (seemingly sign) but no pen. We told the new inattentive bartender that we needed a pen to sign the bill to which he replied, "yes sign." (With what?!) Makes me glad we went across the street to eat. I can't imagine what the service would e turned into. Go for drinks, then maybe assess the service to determine if you stay for a meal. read more

The outdoor seating during the Feast of San Genaro is great if you like to people watch. The Maitre d said that the chef is from Italy and he did not disappoint. The food came out hot which is a plus. It was tasty and not overly seasoned or cooked. Guests around me ordered lasagna, pizza and penne a la vodka. It all looked delicious. I shouldve known that if someone had to lure people in, that it would not be good. We wanted to get up before we ordered but we gave it a chance. Everything had no flavor that I had one bite and just threw out the whole plate. We asked for the check, but he put dessert menus on our tables instead. We got our check but gratuity was already included which I dont remember seeing. After we left, we had no greetings as well compared to other tables. 75$ for 2 plates and still had to go find dinner elsewhere. We didnt even get linen napkins like other tables, just one napkin. I'm not new to this area and have been working around here for a while, so dining in around here is not really a local thing. This review is overdue, my friend and I met here for dinner around December. This is newly renovated since the fire in the building. So, the food is okay, we had calamari, lasagna, margherita pizza, and spumoni ice cream, we also had the mussels but they really smelled very bad, obviously not fresh and spoiled. It was taken out of our bill anyway since it was unconsummated. Staff are not friendly, except for the guy at the desk. We asked another staff member, the one who refills water, to take our photo but he refused, it's not busy when we dined so it's no excuse. That settles it for our dinner, nothing too good to mention about the wait staff and food. I would also like to mention how rude the wait staff here, it was on a feast of San Genarro, I wanted to order something for take out, again the person at the desk would always be nice, he told me to ask the waiter to order, and the surprised response was "we're very busy for take out, you can get food on the street"!. I was really shocked I would not recommend this for anyone, there are a bunch of Italian restaurants throughout Little Italy, I've had good experiences with others but not this one. We had international visitors in town who wanted the full Chinatown-Little Italy experience, which apparently includes wandering into one of the dozens of "Italian" restaurants on Mulberry Street. So we did. At first glance, it checks all the boxes: white tablecloths, waiters in ties, the whole slightly faded illusion of old-school charm. But look closer and it's more lipstick-on-a-pig than la dolce vita: dust clinging to windows, banisters, a general air of neglect that no amount of starch can quite disguise. The food was... technically edible. But presentation-wise? A mess. The lasagna arrived as a kind of shapeless mound, like it had lost the will to be layered, with sauce splattered across the rim in a way that felt less "rustic" and more "we gave up." Service followed suit. Curt, rushed, and largely absent. Our waiter appeared briefly to hurry us into ordering, vanished entirely, then resurfaced just long enough to drop the mains and, moments later, the check. His final act: eagerly handing over a business card with his name handwritten on it, urging us to leave a glowing review and mention him specifically. In the spirit of doing him a favor, we won't. At the very least, our out-of-town guests left with a story and honestly, that may have been the most authentic part of the experience. One more thing: the desserts aren't house-made. You can tell immediately; the photos on the menu have that glossy, mass-produced look straight out of an industrial dessert catalog. Fair enough, but when we asked the server if they were made in-house, he sidestepped it by pointing out his two favorites. We asked again. Complentary bread and water for the table. Adults had the red sangria and white sangria, these were good but had too much ice. They offered dinner special plus their regular menu. The service was good. Our waiter who I didn't catch his name was patient and informative. We ordered from the dinner special and the regular menu. Caprese salad, zucchine alla puttanesca, Chicken Parm, Steak with two sides of veggies, broccoli rabe, Chicken rigattoni alla vodka, pollo alla vodka, lasagna, fettuccine con salmone, calamari, Margherita Pizza. Everyone enjoyed their food with the exception of the fettuccine con salmon was very bland so it was not eaten completely. It looked tasty but the flavor was not there. The caprese salad surprisingly was chopped and not much mozzarella, the zucchine alla puttanesca had two slices of zucchini on top of some salad. The pizza was good!
