I was walking down little Italy and was greeted by L'AMORE's owner to give his place a shot. Let's just say I was not disappointed in any way. The food was beyond phenomenal. They make their pasta in house and you can definitely taste the quality. Highly recommend the lobster ravioli and the branzino in white wine sauce. While walking around little Italy we were feeling peckish when a server caught our attention and herded us into this wonderful establishment in good timing. He sat us at this gorgeous outdoor seating area and got us established with some water and fresh bread. The food was unbelievable, I had never before this moment tasted fresh noodles, it was completely different from what you usually get at any old restaurant claiming to serve 'Italian Cuisine'. The calamari was perfect and not chewy or overcooked whatsoever, even my mom who's not a huge squid fan enjoyed it! I have to be honest, this felt like a tourist trap. We were at a festival in Little Italy and chose to sit down and have a bite at 5:30 on a Friday. No wait. The pasta was better than expected, but certainly nothing to write home about. I did enjoy that the noodles were al dente and it came out pretty quickly, but it's also very saucy which I'm not exactly fond of. It was a large portion so there is potential for leftovers. The wine on the other hand was terrible!! They had only "House Wines" available in a glass and trust me it's not worth the $15. After one sip I had to verify that they brought me the Cab. She was nice and offered me to try a different house red but it was honestly worse. I could tell they genuinely wanted to find me something I would enjoy so they ended up bringing a sample of the Malbec which still wasn't good, but better than the cab. Since I was going to pay for it regardless I drank that. I appreciated the effort, the staff was nice. I do believe it was overpriced for the quality though. I have been coming here for quite some time now and would definitely recommend. The place is small and intimate making it feel like a good place to get some food and to talk with some friends. The service was attentive, but didn't feel like they were on top of you. The only struggle is that it's in Little Italy and the area can get extremely packed at times. The bread they served in the beginning was nothing special and wasn't warm. I got the Fettuccine Alfredo and the penne vodka and they were both delicious. They were both extremely rich and creamy. Well, i have to tell you. The pastas tasted great ! It's just a bit too creamy to my liking. The carbonara is not my favorite , because I like it more egg yolky than creamy. Lobster ravioli was completely tasteless and was drowning in sauce. Gnocchi was tiny little pieces and had no flavor. Service was just blah. Waiter did not want to engage in any way. He basically just stood at the table waiting for us to tell him what we wanted. Door person promised us a free appetizer when we came in. That is how he lured us in. At the end of the meal, the appetizer was charged and the waiter said he could not take it off. On the way out we mentioned it to the door person and he faked that he was surprised but did nothing about it. It's just a trick to get you in. The charge an automatic gratuity and some random "convenience charge" of 3.5%. Would not recommend. Our dinner for two was $200 and not remarkable at all. read more

I ordered the chicken parmesan and it came with my choice of a side of spaghetti or veggies (I chose the veggies) and my husband ordered the fettuccini alfredo. For dessert, I ordered 1 cannoli. The food was delicious and the cannoli was probably one of the best that I've ever had. The bill came out to $60+. Know before you go - The restaurant charges a convenience fee. We paid $20 for a well whiskey and coke here, they charge for water ($20 for two bottles of water for half a cup per person), adding chicken to any pasta is $10 extra dollars, and honestly the pasta tastes lower than olive garden quality. 0 Stars - Earlier today, 2/9, around lunchtime, five coworkers and I went to L'amore Restaurant to celebrate a coworker's birthday. What should have been a simple, happy lunch turned into one of the most horrifying dining experiences I've ever had. After taking only two bites of my cheese ravioli, I immediately noticed the texture was off. Then I felt it, a snap and crunch in my mouth. I spit the bite back onto my plate and was horrified to see half of a waterbug or large cockroach mixed in with my food. Using my fingers, I pulled what was still in my mouth out onto the plate and found roach legs, part of the head, and a visible antenna. I had already swallowed part of it. Yes. I ingested part of a waterbug. My coworkers inspected the plate and confirmed exactly what I feared. This wasn't a mistake. It was absolutely a large waterbug. We immediately alerted the waiter. His response? He looked at the plate, then looked at me in a way that strongly suggested he believed we planted it ourselves. No concern. No apology. No "are you okay?" He simply grabbed the plate and walked away to the back. That reaction alone was almost as disturbing as the roach itself. We all stood up and left immediately, completely disgusted and unable to even consider eating anywhere else after what we had just experienced. Our coworker's birthday celebration was completely ruined. And in hindsight, it all makes sense. When we first arrived, a worker was standing outside begging people to come in. Against our better judgment, we gave the place a chance. This is what we got. The irony? The bathroom was sparkling clean. Maybe the kitchen could use even half of that level of attention. If you're thinking about eating here, do yourself a favor and stay far away. The sanitary conditions are clearly questionable, but even worse is the complete lack of accountability, professionalism, and basic care for customers. The food was delicious! I had a penne alla vodka and it was creamy and the flavor was amazing! it was a little on the saucy side but other than that, all the food was great. The only thing is that service was a little slow. We got our server to our table 8-9 minutes after we got our table and our plain tap water 20-25 mins after we finished ordered our food. It is understandable though as it was a Saturday night but I wish the service was quicker. The style of the restaurant was beautiful. MAJOR tourist trap -- do not recommend coming here unless you're starving, can't find anywhere else to eat, and you're willing to get ripped off. I came here after dealing with bad service at several other nearby restaurants, and found that service was good (we were quickly seated and the waiters were fast). However, the food was atrociously disappointing. Their bread was easily the worst bread that both my boyfriend and I have had in our entire lives -- it was VERY stale and practically inedible. We both ordered penne alla vodka, and it came out within 2 minutes of ordering. It was laughable since they didn't even pretend to freshly cook the noodles or sauce. The pasta noodles were also way too overcooked (almost mushy) and the sauce tasted like it was from a jar. The total came out to $30 per pasta, more than I have paid for actually decent pasta in the city. They add an 18% gratuity to the receipt without any warning as well (even for just 2 people) and the website you pay on tries to get you to tip another 18%. read more
