A friend pointed this place out to us, so we decided to check out what all the hype was about -- and it did not disappoint! We were quickly seated upstairs on the patio, which had such a great atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was excellent from start to finish. Definitely a spot we'll be returning to!

Chapala is a stand out for Mexican breakfast dishes, lunch and dinner. They feature a wide selection with a seafood Mexican twist for lunch and dinner. We've been coming here for years and we've always had a great experience. Yes, the tableside salsa.Yes they make the sauce accustomed to your taste at the table is fantastic.

We wanted to try this place for a while and this time we were here when it was open. We were seated right away. Server was helpful and attentive. Food was really good. They mix the salsa for your chips at your table based on your spice level. It can be a bit noisy with children but not too bad. It is next to their market which is also fun to check out. Parking can be hard with crowds.

The next time you are fueling up at the Gas Pro Shop (Buccees) next door, consider not fighting the crowd for their bbq sandwich and beaver nuggets. Cross the street and grab some authentic Mexican food from Chapala. Their staff offered top notch service and made sure our glasses were never empty. They started us with fresh made, table side salsa, prepared to our level of heat preference. The refried beans paired with the salsa and chips were a perfect aperitif. The lunch menu was bountiful and had some of our favorites. The enchiladas with guajillo sauce and chicken were divine. And the quesadilla was massive, especially for only $10. I hate that we were sleeping on this place and grabbing jerky and a sandwich instead of when we fueled up.

Casa Chapala - Bastrop, TX - Father's Day Visit Our kids treated us to Casa Chapala in Bastrop for Father's Day. It was a lively experience -- maybe a bit too lively for us, as the noise level made it hard to have a conversation. A few sound-absorbing tiles, curtains, or even some soft wall art could go a long way. Now, on to the food: Oma's beef fajita was just right and to her liking. I had the beef steak burrito. It was okay, though the meat was a bit too tough for my old teeth. The Mexican rice didn't have much flavor, but it wasn't bad. The real star of the meal was the chips and salsa -- especially the spicy one. That salsa had a great kick and flavor, and honestly, it was the best part of the whole meal. Not quite a five-star place, but still a solid four stars in my book. With a few acoustic upgrades, it could easily become a favorite spot. Opa

Not the best service, food, or atmosphere but not terrible. I loved my fish tostada but didn't like my shrimp mango tostada. I tried my boyfriend's burrito and it was good. The chips and salsa were amazing. Service was slow and our waitress was visibly annoyed at her coworkers the entire time (they were arguing and giving dirty looks to each other). I'll probably come back to see if I just had a funky experience but not for a while.

If you want real tasty Mexican food definitely this is NOT the place. I order a molcajete it looked like caldo , small portions of meet food had no taste had to put a lot of salt and salsa to make it better. Service ok. Lemonade tastes like kool-aid

As always, Chapala never fails!! Great food and drinks to end a long work week! Our wonderful waitress Maria is one of the main reasons why we come back over and over again! Outside patio is a nice break from all the noise of a restaurant! Stop by and try them out and make sure you ask for Maria and tell her Grady sent ya!!

Going into the seating area, there tables and some little nooks to meet a friend or work from. It's a place you can find the hours pass. The only downside is side is the lack of a sign at the front entrance that the owner is feverishly trying to get approval on. It's a bit disheartening to see a small business owner have to wait to have something approved that would increase their visibility and have their business grow. I am not sure what official dept in Bastrop that takes care of it, but they need to do it for this great little place to be more noticeable. They also hold special events here too.

I was with a large party and we were seated on an outdoor deck area that overlooks a lovely greenbelt and the Colorado river. I was uncertain about outdoor seating in June, but they had lots of fans that dispense a light mist to help cool the area. The drinks were excellent, I had a margarita on the rocks with tajin rim and it was tasty and refreshing. The food was fabulous! I highly recommend the meatballs. Everyone in our party could not get enough of them. I will be back to try the wings, they looked delish. Misty was our server and I am still in awe over her. She went out of her way to make sure everyone in our (very large) party was taken care of. There were dozens of us and I'm not even sure how she managed to do it but I realized afterwards, I never waited long for anything. Misty was always nearby and so kind and attentive. Im not sure how she took care of so many people at once, it was amazing, honestly. Ive never seen such efficiency and I don't know how she did it. I hope I'm lucky enough to see her again when I go back to sample those wings!

It has to be the most interesting margarita I've ever encountered. And it tastes great. My wife had the menudo and a crispy chicken taco. She enjoyed both. And the taco was larger than most.
