This an authentic restaurant with great flavors and foods. The staff are pleasant, fast, and friendly. We had the enchiladas (three on the plate) with fajita meat, rice, and retried beans. It was fresh, cheesy, and flavorful. We also had the large quesadilla with fajita beef. The quesadilla is huge and likely enough for 1.5-2 people. This is probably the best quesadilla I've ever had and my favorite item on the menu. The meal is served with chips and green and red sauce also. The parking lot is shared with other stores in the shopping strip. Plenty of open spots. Not a restaurant I'd take a formal party to, but definitely great for casual lunches and dinners. I have eaten at this spot a couple of times before, nothing notable. Last night though, needed late night sustenance and went to Yelp for help finding something open at 11pm. Called ahead to verify hours and lady was super pleasant adding they closed at midnight and masks would be required. Parking lot of restaurant is NOT the safest at night (Cook was literally locking and unlocking door to let people in and out of restaurant due to vagrant loitering). Staff was super friendly and service was great, even 30 minutes until close! Ordered the mixed (chx + beef) fajitas for 2 with flour tortillas. I am very picky about meat and was very happy with fajitas. The tortillas could be slightly thicker. Guacamole was great! We will definitely be back for late night eats! The salsa was a 10/10 and i'd probably come back JUST for that. But the food was not seasoned well, the steak was tough, and everything else was bland. 2 stars for the food, 1 star for salsa. This is my favorite "hole in the wall" authentic Mexican spot! I've been coming here since I was a kid, whether on the weekdays for dinner or on Sundays after church. Very little has changed! The menu has a variety of delicious appetizers (guac is so fresh), plates (I go for the enchiladas), or a la carte (the best taco meats are the beef fajita or the pastor). Their chips always come out hot and I can eat basket after basket of them. Their salsa verde is the better of the two options, the red is too plain/bland for me. The service is great, the waitstaff are the nicest people who also speak both Spanish and English. My favorite thing to get here are the tacos off the a la carte menu. You have the options of soft/crispy (only the crispy tacos come with cheese though), and flour/corn. There's a list of meats to choose from and they're under $2 each - great price! Looked for a taqueria on the way to IKEA. If you come here to eat, you definitely want to know or bring someone you know with you who speaks Spanish. When I called to ask if this establishment had "Dine In" (due to Covid some places don't.) the lady who was on the phone didn't quite understand me and hung up. My husband asked me if I still wanted to go try this place out after she hung up on me, and I said yes because it was because of a language barrier, which is different for me than just blatant bad customer service. Luckily my husband speaks Spanish so I do get to enjoy authentic taquerias in Houston! The portions here are huge! They only have one choice for Margaritas and that is lemon-lime on the rocks. Tried this place for the first time and we're so glad we did! We got the carne guisada and caldo de cameron. The portions were plentiful and the refried beans were amazing. They give you a squeeze bottle of green sauce & red sauce for your tortilla chips. I like to squeeze tons of green sauce on my tacos. I wanted to give them a better rating because the beans and rice are delicious and our waiter was very nice and attentive. But the chicken in my taco and enchilada didn't taste right. I got the shredded chicken and not the fajita meat. Furthermore, I stumbled on a chicken bone in the enchilada that could have broken a tooth. Casa de Leon is our go-to Mexican breakfast restaurant in the Spring Branch area. The place is always a cool mix of local Anglos and Hispanics from the areas that Campbell divides. It's a Houston border restaurant. It is also a complete greasy-spoon diner. The service is always attentive and mindful of my ice tea or coffee needs. They are also quick. The food is basic Tex-Mex breakfast. The tortillas are handmade. They are thin and lard-heavy, therefore crisp and slightly chewy. The Huevos a la Mexicana are always tasty and well-balanced. The chorizo con huevo is on target every time. The beans are creamy, which probably means a lot of lard. Oh, well. They're pretty flavorful and topped with Chihuahua cheese. The barbacoa taco was sub-par. It was quite greasy and lacked flavor. Prices are ridiculously low, so everything should be seen through that lens. Oddly, their coffee is fantastic. They serve three salsas with your meal. All are flavorful, with the red one being downright spicy. Get the guacamole. Cheap, plentiful and tasty. read more

My review is based only on the breakfast tacos and not their service or etc. We've tried the barbacoa, potato and egg, chorizzo and egg, ham and egg, bacon and egg. They provide us a side of limes, onions, cilantro, and taco sauce. The flour tortillas are delicious, especially when they're hot. There are generous portions in each taco. Well you know it's going to be a good Taqueria when you go in and the friendly staff will default to greeting you in Spanish. I found this location to be convenient while I was getting some work done at Discount Tire next door. (Especially since I read the alternative close-by Tornado Taco stopped serving those delicious burgers in 2015!) I ordered their Carne Guisada off the lunch menu which seemed good for a cool January day. Honestly it's a steal of a deal especially considering how fast the food came out. (Maybe a bit *too* fast. )The beef stew was pretty good, quite tender meat and tasty sauce. However, I think it was a bit watery and there could have been more depth of flavor. The refried beans were a bit watery as well and bland. To be fair, some of that water may have come from the pico de gallo on the plate which was delicious with spicy jalapeños. The Mexican rice was light and fluffy so overall with the warm tortillas it's a nice meal. The service was prompt and attentive. I also liked the portion size which was not too much. Another plus is you don't get that Tex-Mex (clearly this is not a Tex-Mex place,) food over-stuffed feeling after eating here. While it's not a taqueria standout, it's a good meal at a great price. read more
