I had no idea Case De Fruita had so many little stores and shops! This restaurant smelled delicious and it was like a regular Mom & Pops diner style restaurant. Dining Experience Monday, August 17, 2026 5pm. Service: Host and our server were very friendly, polite with excellent people skills. I cannot remember their names. Food: Positive: My husband ordered the salmon which was prepared well and was delicious. Negative: I ordered the fried chicken which I have had a number of times before. This time it came out burnt and dry. The mashed potatoes were made from dehydrated boxed mashed potatoes. The assorted vegetables had a brine season to it which was not tasty at all. The zucchini was slightly overcooked and the carrots were undercooked. I was very disappointed in the preparation. The menu and changed tremendously. Safety issue: There's like a 5 inch hole/divot covered up by the carpet runner that is in the hallway to the restroom. I almost twisted my ankle. I stopped in at Casa de Fruta on my way to Santa Cruz. Stopping at CdF was a family tradition while growing up and it had been 40+ years since I had been in the area. There is a lot to do at Casa de Fruta, but I specifically stopped in for breakfast at their Casa de Restaurant for some good food. As expected, the food was delicious and plentiful and at a great value for being such a tourist trap. My server was pleasant enough...average service. The restaurant itself appeared clean and in great condition for its age. My only concern was one of the servers (not mine) who stood center dining room and had a very loud conversation regarding that orange person who is squatting in the White House and how everything he is doing is wonderful. The Bacado Burger was good overall--the patty was a little overcooked, but not enough to ruin it. The fries were cooked perfectly and nicely seasoned. Service was a bit slow, and at one point it felt like we may have been forgotten; however, they were very busy, so that's understandable. The diner-style décor gave the place a cozy, welcoming feel. Popped in about 6:40 pm on a Saturday and seated fairly quickly. They have the Renaissance Fair so it was busy in a good way. I had the chicken fried steak with the clam chowder and it was delicious. Also very very generous when it comes to the servings and priced well for what you get. The clam chowder with the bread hit the spot early and was very enjoyable. I'm rating the "Casa de Burrito." This is inside of the chevron and apart of the Casa the fruta establishment. The Carne Asada Burrito is Delicious! It does justice to carne asada burrito! I visited Casa de Fruta with a friend and decided to have lunch at the restaurant. We ordered the clam chowder, turkey club sandwich, side salad, and the artichoke appetizer. Overall, the meal was very good. The clam chowder was flavorful and the turkey club was fresh. The side salad was a little different than I expected, it was made with spring mix and topped with just crushed pistachios, but it was absolutely delicious. The artichoke appetizer was good, although I thought it was a bit oily. The restaurant was clean and it was a comfortable atmosphere. Our waiter was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. I thought the prices were a bit higher but that's understandable given that Casa de Fruta is a popular tourist destination. My wife and I have been coming to Casa de fruta restaurant for last 6 years. We had consistent visits there to go every other Friday.We were regulars. Driving there was a treat because of the gorgeous views. We also have been enjoying our favorite deserts there. Unfortunately, because of the prices and the quality of food we may need to end our frequent trips there. Some of our dishes have been chucked out of their menus. They no longer serve Chicken pesto, Bbq ribs and other items we noted to be made obsolete. Its very sad on how this establishment is headed the wrong direction. A great place to stop and eat on your way up north. They have breakfast all day. The corners hash with breakfast potatoes were very flavorful, the potatoes freshly cut and seasoned well. I haven't driven by here since the 80's. I had to stop in for good ol memories. The place is spacious and well maintained. They had prime rib and couldn't pass that by. I brought a large group of 36 people to dine for brunch at Casa de Restaurant. We agreed upon a set menu, and the service was streamlined so we could stay on our day trip itinerary. The staff and servers were very warm and welcoming. They constantly refilled our coffee cups. The fresh fruit was actually fresh and full of flavor. The fresh squeezed orange juice came in pint glasses! The brunch food of Eggs Benedict, omelettes, pancakes, and waffles was delicious. I recommend this place as a stop for a meal to anyone traveling in this area, and I plan to return on my trip to Yosemite in a few weeks to show my boyfriend this wonderful place. After parking my ride wifey and I checked out all the little stores on the Casa de Fruta lot. Man there's so much to see and do here. They have and ice cream and coffee store, a wine and sandwich store, and a fruit and candy store, Free wine tasting (I ended up buy 2 bottles of their delicious pomegranate wine and blackberry wine. I also walked out of there with a apricot and cherry pie. Wifey got a coffee "was meh" Around the outside of the shops is a carousel, train rides, lots of old for me equipment, a water mill and rooster or two ;D. Stopped in for a quick piece of pie. Fruit of the forest is my go to. Filled with a variety of fruits and served with a scoop of ice cream, yum. Service is just ok so you need to be very patient. Even on a slow night servers can be slow too. The ambiance is very casual and no need to dress up, lol. Many travelers stop her to stretch their legs use the restrooms stroll in the park eat at the restaurant go wine tasting or purchase some of their delicious snacks in the store. Don't order a salad with chicken. It had a foul smell and looked like it came from a pre-cooked bag. Our server was very nice and apologized which is why I gave 2 Stars instead of 1 but for the price of the plates, I would have expected MUCH higher quality food. I took one bite of my cobb salad and sent it back because of the smell and taste of the chicken...hard pass for the potential of food poisoning. And the rest of our table's food was sub par at best. I have been visiting this restaurant since 1973. This place had a standard to meet with their food and service. Here we are generations later and the food was awful and the service was worse. I don't mind waiting but I don't like being ignored. My coffee cup was empty 20 mins before finally asking for a refill. The food was nearly 30 mins and when it came the strawberries was near spoiled, the gravy didn't seem to be made onsite, the eggs requested over medium were not even close to over easy. I am a local and have enjoyed your site many times and eat at your restaurant frequently over many years.   My family was at your restaurant yesterday for dinner...I want you to know how disappointed we were....I don't have a problem with prices being increased and understand the need for in these times...That isn't what disappointed me... The food was so bad we couldn't eat most of it...I ordered my favorite fried chicken and was shocked when it arrived. It had gone from the outstanding 1/2 chicken to what they called a 3 piece portion, which was overcooked to also burnt..and not seasoned. .It included 1/2 piece of a breast, one chicken leg that was so small I got one bite and the 3rd piece was a 2 inch by 1 inch flat piece which I assume was suppose to be a thiegh or something.  Not enough to eat...This order now included a choice of EITHER a choice of Starch OR a salad and no bread.  Originally the order included 4 pieces of bone in chicken, great vegetables and  choice of rice or potato, soup or salad and a roll. The vegetables were awful also..Usually I received fresh sauted vegetables.  These were old tasteless bowl of frozen garbage... My husband ordered a patty melt which came on a square white rye bread with 2 strands of grilled onion and a piece of meat that was so small/thin that the sandwich appeared like there was nothing in it. , I though it was an appetizer or a joke..Previously the sandwich was on DARK Rye, good size ground beef patty, and lots of grilled onions like they are suppose to be... My daughter ordered the prime rib dip which has always been her favorite there...OH no...It came on a roll with only enough meat for half of the sandwich...the roll was smuthered with mayo and had no onions as the menu said AND had no horseraddish as the menu said...Who puts mayo on a dip sandwich I asked the waitress what happened to the restaurant,,,she said that you have a new chef and he set up the new menu...Let me tell you...He does not know how to cook, and he has cut the servings in half.  The food is terrible and it looked that way at other tables.  I will never eat there again..and probably neither will the locals.  We used to brag on your chicken...not any more. The not so good/bad: long wait time to get food after it was ordered approx 20 minutes and when we received it Tator tots totally where barely warm, my chicken bowl with rice smelled burned some of the chicken was charred, the other plate a fried chicken dinner looked and tasted like chicken was fryed in old oil over cooked, steak sandwich was bland and lastly club sandwich was very dry overall food was not good!! ****I am not the type to send food back because I just wouldn't trust what comes back if it be treated and served clean.
