    Arroz con pollo

If you are looking for tender, moist and tasty chicken go no further! They have smoked and roasted. Except for the burritos the menu is gluten free. When you walk in the door you can smell the deliciousness. We had the smoked chicken taco and arroz con pollo. Portions are very generous; the arroz con pollo was enough for two. Owner greeted us upon entry and explained their specialties. Assured us there would be no cross contamination.

One of my favorite spots in the area for lunch! The chicken is always juicy and flavorful however you get it, and I love the included salsas for additional flavor and heat as desired. Friendly staff happy to explain the menu, and food usually comes out quickly, even during the lunch rush. Cash recommended to avoid a small card charge.

Smoked chicken and rice and black beans. Oh my it was delicious!!!! And the service was amazing!!!! I will be back!!!

The service was amazing and it came with a smile and lots of confidence. The smoked chicken was amazing and so was the black beans and rice. I will be back!!!!

Stumbled upon this place while I was in the area and wow, probably the best lunch experiences I've ever had! The chicken was perfectly cooked and juicy, and the beans/carrots sides were so flavorful! It was my first experience with Costa Rican cuisine and I can't wait to come back. The building itself is unassuming but when you're inside it has a warm, homely atmosphere. They had some cool books to look through while you wait for your order. Service was friendly and fast!

Very charming with a laid back atmosphere. Service was spot on and very friendly. They also have outdoor seating available. The menu also has an all day breakfast item... never know when you are craving breakfast.

Took a seat at the bar and was greeted promptly. Looked over the menu and decided on the smoked angels envy old fashioned. It was happy hour so I got the half wedge salad. Was not a traditional wedge but was really good. For my main I got the lomo saltado, mole rubbed steak tips with onions, peppers, French fries over rice. Was a wild mix of stuff. Steak pieces were pretty small but full of flavor and the sauce over the whole thing was delicious. Was worried the fries would be soggy but the sauce made them better. Sopped up the sauce with the rice and fries. Amazing. Asked for a margarita to go with the meal, seemed appropriate. Sat at the bar so service was good, kept water full and checked in repeatedly Was a great time and great food

It's a beautiful restaurant, we had a large party seated by the window, and our server was SO fun. Everyone was incredibly sweet, and the service was perfect. It was also close to my birthday, and they ended up singing to me twice because our server didn't know the first time! They even brought me a complimentary cake, so it made for such a fun memory. Food-wise, the burrata needed a little more balsamic, but the empanadas were a 10/10, the sauces were amazing, and I loved the fried grit fritters and bread. The drinks were also SO good. Our entire group became obsessed with the Coco No Loco and kept ordering them all night! Unfortunately, my steak was where they lost the star. It was SO tough and honestly difficult to chew. The flavor was also spicier than I expected, but that part is on me! I think they may have just had an off night with the steak, because everything else was incredible. I'd absolutely come back, I'd just order something other than steak next time. 4/5!

While dimly lit, you can see they painted the open HVAC tubes, and decorated the back with blankets that remind you of a cowboy movie. Our waiter Matt was great, and walked us through what we could expect as it was our first time. Then we ordered, and we ordered a lot. Some of the items came quickly, but some took a long time, which when eating with kids is a serious negative. Everything we ordered was excellent except for the fried olives, which just weren't special, but the gaucho bread, elote, patatas, and brisket empanadas were all excellent. Our second round, which included Luis' asado, chicken bites, and the roasted chicken took at least 20 minutes to arrive, potentially longer as I didn't time it, but the kids got antsy while we waited. Again, everything was delicious, it just took a long time. Lastly we had dessert, the banana dulce de leche pie was amazing, and didn't take too long to come out. Overall, the restaurant is very loud, and the food takes a long time to come out, so not the best place for kids. If you have a long time to dedicate to a meal, it is fantastic.

We did order the Asado Argentino for two but I think next time, we will order something else. Not that it was too "adventurous" for us, but simply, not everything was to our liking and I'd rather order one thing I know I'd like. The potatoes were so dang good, the only thing I'd say is, I wish the sauce was on the side. We had leftovers but decided to eat the rest of the potatoes in the restaurant because we knew it would get soggy overnight. My only complaint is that the rum mousse was too strong on the cake and I couldn't eat any of it, but I personally just don't enjoy any alcohol in general. It was my first time here, but I think would go again, though a good friend of ours said that Ox has become quite overpriced for what it is and it didn't used to be this way. Honestly everything was seasoned well and the effort and variety on the menu was enough that I think it's worth it to go at least once.

Cerdo frito w/ Tostones ($13.95) - The dish comes with eight pieces of seasoned and deep fried pork. It's fried long enough to make it crisp but dries out the interior. The rich seasoning, salty with a lime salt-like tang, creates a red colored skin over the meat. The fried meat is served on a bed of red beans and rice. It's seasoned well and has a good bitey texture. I ordered the cerdo frito with tostones. They include three pieces that aren't nearly as smashed and thin as others I've eaten. This means they are able to show a more tender and starchy interior rather than being almost completely crispy throughout. They are quite interesting in that they puff up like pita bread, leaving an air pocket in the center. They top the tostones with a bit of crumbled salty cheese and some salsa. Unfortunately these two elements soak into the tostones a little, causing them to become somewhat soggy. There's a tiny side of slaw, less than a small ice cream scoops worth. It's filled with crunchy vegetables and is in a really sweet dressing. I wonder if they purchase it in bulk from the Reser's down the street. From the beginning, when I asked simple questions about drink pricing, the manager (Monica) responded in a rude and dismissive manner rather than providing clear information. At no point were we informed about a 21+ bracelet requirement upon entry, and I was not given one by staff responsible for distributing them. Later in the evening, my friends and I briefly entered the restroom together due to a line and were not aware that only one person was permitted at a time. Instead of calmly addressing the situation, the manager attempted to force open the bathroom door while my friend was using it. The situation escalated when we tried to close the door for privacy, but we complied once instructed to come out after my friend finished. Afterwards, when I asked why the manager had an attitude since our arrival, she grabbed at my bracelet and repeatedly entered my personal space while speaking to me aggressively. While I was speaking with another employee, Monica approached me from behind and made physical contact by intentionally bumping into me with her shoulder. An older male staff member also pushed a minor in our group while attempting to remove us from the venue, rather than calmly letting us know to leave. Additionally, another employee pushed my phone while I was trying to take a picture of the manager. The staff continued to laugh and joke about the situation. We did not deserve this treatment. At no point was it clearly communicated that we were required to leave. Staff began physically intervening after being directed by the manager to remove us. We were escorted out before the performance began, and no refund was provided. While I understand that they have rules and expectations for guests, I believe situations should be handled professionally and respectfully with clear communication and without physical contact to avoid escalations. Prior to this event happening me and my friends came in with positive fun energy and we were just trying to enjoy our night out. I have documented the incident with video, photos, and witness accounts and will be reviewing appropriate next steps. I did not have the opportunity to try the food, but based on this experience alone, I would not return or recommend this establishment.
