I have not stopped by in many years. I recalled that they had a very large menu. They were very busy, but for the most part the staff was very nice. We were sat quickly and our order was taken within a reasonable timeframe. We had a combo with two chicken tacos and a cheese enchilada with rice and beans. I asked for only beans as I normally do not eat the rice but they still brought me the rice. My son had the chicken burrito, it was huge , he loved it. The food quality was great , warm and quickly served. They struggled a little with followed up with us, we had to track down the staff for drink refills and some other requests overall it was a far expand the food was very good tasting. read more

Enjoyed a wonderful meal here! The enchiladas were very tasty and the Cadillac Margarita was one of the best I've had in a long time. Service was also very kind and attentive and we noticed these folks have been here for many years. That is nice to see :) They have some outdoor seating to enjoy these last few days of summer and the indoor space is comfy as well. Worst experience ever not only were they trying to over charge us on an extra plate we supposedly ordered they were so rude. I ordered 4 tacos 1 quesadilla and two sprites paid $59 after they supposedly took off the extra plate. They don't give you an itemized amount unless you ask for it and they still had the audacity to follow me outside just to tell me if "I don't have money why do I bother coming!" It caught me so off guard Could not believe what I was experiencing just because I was confused about the amount being charge and asked for itemized receipt before paying. El Sol came highly recommended from friends who I dine with frequently so I'm not sure if it was an off-night, but we didn't finish any of it. Actually barely touched either dinner. The menu is massive, and that says a lot. There is no way everything can be fresh and scratch made with so many items available. That should have been our first clue. The chips and salsa - just ok. Not the hot, fresh type one usually gets at a Mexican place. My friend had the carne asada plate. The streak was so thin and over cooked, more like sliced jerky than steak. Inedible. Craving Mexican food, I went with a combination platter: - Shredded beef chimichanga, usually an indulgence fir me. This one arrived soggy. What? Nothing crisp, very oily and the shredded beef filling not appealing. It was challenging just to cut a piece of this to taste. - Chile relleno was also soggy. No crisp outer shell. Totally lacking flavor. - Chicken enchilada suiza came with red sauce, not the green tomatillo sauce that is suiza and it had no flavor. The one pis it I've was the chicken was white meat. We both ordered the spicy margarita and neither of us could get it down. It was not made with fresh lime juice, which I prefer, and the mixer was uber sweet; the jalapeño couldn't cut through it. Left it behind. After a fabulous day in the wine country we stopped here because of a recommendation. We should have just continued home and gone to dinner in Portland. Everyone working here was cheerful and friendly. That was a bright spot. Saddens me to leave a poor review especially during these very trying times, but reviews are worthless if they aren't honest. read more

I'm in the service industry. I do not like to complain. What was once Raul's has turned to garbage. Service was poor on a slow night. When I asked why our margarita were $14.25 each I was told their well tequila is Patron. Tortillas were raw. Only three tortillas with a full fajita meant. Do not recommend. Service is wonderful. Manny is one of the best servers in the business. He took such good care of us completely without a complaint. Food was fantastic. There is a social contract I believe between the cook and the customer and this food is a betrayal of my time and money. There are MUCH better options nearby. We were in the area the other day and was craning some Mexican food, primarily tacos. This place came up as the closest to us at the time. We decided to come here and grab a meal. To my surprise, their taco selection was limited. I wanted a chorizo taco, but was told that they could not do that, rather can have a chorizo burrito instead. I opted for the special of the day - enchilada rancheros. The dish was mediocre and was nothing special. The portion size was large. My sister ordered the chicken quesadilla and ground beef taco. Nice little surprise of a lovely Mexican restaurant. First, their salsa is awesome! It is actually spicy. If you don't like heat, then don't eat spicy food. It's not so hot that your mouth needs a fire put out, but definitely has a little heat. The chips are thin, crispy and freshly made-on point. We also enjoyed their entrees. Burritos have a decent amount of meat and veggies, not just beans/rice. I love combinations at any Mexican restaurant we visit so I can sample a few items. Theirs do not disappoint. Service was good, we got our food quickly and were in and out in less than an hour, but never felt rushed even though they were near closing by the time we were finished. BEYOND FANTASTIC! El Sol De Mexico 2, is the best! One of my families and loved ones favorite restaurants. The food is fantastic! Service is fast! Absolutely no complaints. If your looking for a restaurant to go to, this is it! We go for the 'chicken enchiladas with rice and black beans', and its the best. The chips and salsa are really good to. Take-out is always packaged great and with tin foil so the food is hot when you get home, no need to reheat. The price is great, and were always satisfied after our meal and sometimes have a small to-go box. The location is perfect as well. Right by Bridgeport Village, and a lot of business establishments. We have been going to El Sol in Tigard for over 5 years. Always a great meal! Always! For starters, they have the best chips and salsa around. Sorry Andrew and Justin, but this place gets a big suckola from me. Three different dishes ordered, and not one of the three diners* thought it was good. The salsa was too hot, which is really odd for us, since we douse everything with hot sauce. The food was fairly tasteless, greasy and smothered in sauce and cheese to mask the fact that it just isn't really well prepared. The chili relleno was repellent, a soggy cheesy gloopy mess, and the enchilada was not much better. The service was fairly quick and very pleasant, and we had lots of drink refills. There are interesting murals on the very peach walls. I'm sure no one will be more disappointed than Brad to know that this place does not end the quest for decent Mexican food in the Pacific NW. *All three diners have lived in San Jose and other parts of California, so we have fairly high standards for Mexican fare. read more

I had a taco and enchilada both with chicken and as what has happened to me so many times in Mexican restaurants is the chicken is some sort of chicken that is kind of soupy in substances in my taco and such. El Sol is our company favorite lunch place and we sneak off whenever we get the guts to take an "Offsite" meeting. The staff literally remembers my bosses name (she goes there quite a bit) and knows to bring us extra salsa, because it's soo good we could drink it. I am a creature of habit and always order the $6.95 burrito lunch special with beef, because it comes on a large plate with beans and rice. Add to that the endless chips and salsa and you will walk out of there completely stuffed! You wouldn't know from driving by the strip mall that there's a festive, brightly painted restaurant inside (you know. Where the walls are adorned with painted flowers on terracotta tile). The restaurant is always spotless and I know this because I accidentally walked into the kitchen while trying to find that bathroom. Besides the delicious food, I love how friendly the servers are. The same ones have been around a while so it's either family owned or they just really love their jobs.
