I had never heard of this place until my coworkers mentioned it. So one day I decided to join them. The establishment is a pretty good sized restaurant. Apparently on Fridays and the weekend, there is karaoke and dancing!! I ordered the enchilada plate. It came with two chicken enchiladas, rice, beans and a salad. They served a pretty big sized portion, so I was unable to finish my entire plate. The plate was delicious and I would definitely order it again, if I were to go back. I also ordered a Chavela, of course without the shrimp. Apparently this place is known for their Chavelas! They were good and live up to the countless thumbs up reviews. My only two issues were that I paid about $20 for my meal and drink. I felt that was a little too excessive. Service was a little slow but it was busy for the time of day we went. This quaint little restaurant was very inviting, even for 10:30 in the morning. I was greeted and sat immediately and only needed 2 minutes to decide that I wanted a torta when I saw they had Jarritos. I got a torta de jamón which came with French fries. The bread was very fresh and soft, but the toasted outside with mayonnaise was warm and crispy. We ordered typical fares like burrito and wet burrito, enchilada, crispy tacos... the spices were very bland (ie, enchilada sauce and wet burrito sauce) Not impressed with usually "no fail" dishes. The real worst was that the cheese used was not authentic and was typical cheddar stuff (not bad if the prices relate to ok ingredients..) So the cheese was low grade...and quite frankly, it had a funny taste to it and both me and my people's stomach felt kinda unsettled afterwards. Went here in a Friday evening. Music was so loud that I couldn't converse with my family at the table. The waitress had a flat affect and was sluggish. She did not greet us and we had to call her many times to order. One of us went to the counter to ask for napkins. At the end I went to pay for the bill. I show the lady a 10% coupon I had for using Yelp to check in. Three of them did not acknowledge the coupon and acted as if they've never seen it before. This coupon was not used because the restaurant refused to honor it per "the owner." The lady didn't say a word when I showed it to her. She immediately called the owner on her cell phone to ask about this coupon and her response was that "the owner was not going to honor Yelp coupons." I give the food a 5 out of 10. The Mariscos was too salty and for this reason I couldn't finish it. No refills were offered and none of the waitress came to check if we needed anything. Horrible service and rules. We decided to have our Taco Tuesday at Mariscos Casa de Pollo. We walked in and they said that they stop serving $1 Tacos at 6 pm. It was 5pm when we got there. Then they said they had no Pastor. Ok fine. Then they asked for here or to go. We said for here and that there would be alot of people coming in through out the night. She then proceeds to say that if it s a Large party, it will be regular price tacos then told us to sit down. People walked in and sat and they served them first. 20 minutes later she comes back and says it will be a little bit cause she has to serve the other people first. I Said NO.... We were here first. Well your party isnt all here. I had already told her that they would be coming and going and we were ready to order. With attitude she says, well what do u guys want. We were about to order then she went on with it gonna be regular price not $1 Tacos By now I'm pissed. She had such a Bad attitude. So fyi, waitress is unprofessional the way she handles her customers. They lost a Minimum of $800 in Alcohol and food sales. The only reason I'm putting a 1 star is cause i have to put something. Came in on a Sunday afternoon with my parents, ordered camarones a la Diabla. The salsa that's given with chips is more spicy than the diabla sauce. When we were served, the diabla sauce ended up completely coating the beans so I was stuck with this weird, bean/diabla soup mixture next to my rice. The sauce tasted kind of stale so the only edible thing here was the rice on my plate. The shrimps were extremely chewy and tasted like rubber. First trip here for my Mom and me. Wide selection of dishes. We like to try the meats when we try out a new place. We ordered tacos. There are two kinds, the ones stuffed with everything, and the little mini ones with meat, cilantro, and grilled onions. We got the mini ones with cheese with all the meat choices. The The chips are bland. The salsas are hot. The pico de gallo is very good, fresh. The meats were all well done, which I prefer. Chorizo was our favorite. This place only got 3 stars because of its crappy service. When we got there all the servers were attending other people. The main cashier, was just doing a lot of sorting out. No greeting, we were just getting ignored. The few tables that there were were piled up with dishes. No servers in sight to clean them. I ordered a michelada and when I was almost done with it there was 3 bottle caps with foil at the bottom of my mug. Super grose! It took the waitress like 10 minutes to greet us and bring us our menus. I ordered chicken because given the name i thought i would be good. Well i was wrong. The chicken was hard and taste like oil. My son said it was gross and we know chicken. We come from a family background of chicken restaurants. Order a plate of enchiladas with cheese but while I was enjoying my plate I noticed a guys hair on my plate which of course I said something to the waiter which I expected to get a new plate with out getting charged again. Once I receive the check they were charging for both plates which upset me and went to complain which they didn't do much about it so I had asked to cancel my plates instead.
