A trip to the arts district and enjoyed some chalk art which directed our journey to Casa Don Juan. They conveniently open early for those early birds that want to beat the crowd. A fine day to browse and have endless talks that mean nothing to others but ourselves.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]An open door casa is a welcoming home.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Like an open cook book. This is a casa she shares her story alongside her wall of Memento images. With many chapters menu selections to go along with her chapters. Never underestimate a woman who lived in the casa of Don Juan

    #2 TAMALE AND ENCHILADA

Food is average. We were in the Arts District and needed to get a bite for dinner. Saturday evening and this block was poppin. Most places were a 30+ min standby wait but with Casa Don Juan, it was less than 10 min. Service was attentive. We were sat outside and I was afraid we were gonna get ignored but our waiter came by several times throughout dinner to make sure we got everything we need. Chips, salsa and bean dip were complimentary. The bean dip was a pleasant surprise. I read it's only free for the first round. You MAY pay for a second round of chips & salsa. My husband and I both ordered the tamale and enchilada plate combo. The enchilada was scrawny!!!!! I've been to other local Mexican restaurants and their enchiladas are hefty and full. The tamale, however, was thick but lacked flavor. Needed to drench salsa on it but was afraid I'd get charged if I ask for another side of their house salsa. Coming here served its purpose...we left full and the prices were reasonable in today's economy but as locals, we would not go out of our way to specifically come here.

My first meal at this place and it did not disappoint. Everything was super tasty. Service was great. And paced out nicely. I was just visiting but I will go again next time I'm in Las Vegas. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Also clean restrooms - always a plus after arriving to your destination.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

This place was so good! Everything tasted authentic and the salsas were absolutely banging. You can tell they really care about the food and the flavors. The customer service was amazing and the whole place had really good vibes. Everyone was friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. I ordered the huevos divorciados and honestly... I tore that plate up so fast I didn't even get a picture . It was that good! And the homemade flour tortillas were sooo good, fresh, soft, and the perfect addition to the meal. If you're in Vegas and want authentic Mexican food with great service and flavor, this spot is definitely worth checking out.

Went out for a delightful birthday lunch with friends and had a charming time. Our server Juan was outstanding and very personable. Chips and salsa were fresh as well as the guacamole, so tasty! [[HIGHLIGHT]]We sat outside as the weather was amazing, food was delicious too![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had enchiladas and chicken fajitas! The corn tortillas were so fresh, they fell apart but still good! Yuummmy! Will definitely be back! For your birthday you get a free shot which was so tasty even mom had one!

    Breakfast special! Yum

[[HIGHLIGHT]]I'm completely serious when I say this was the best flavor, service, pricing, and atmosphere of all the breakfasts I had in Las Vegas.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Vegas is an expensive place to visit, but Casa Don Juan is not. They had a great breakfast special and a friendly staff. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Additionally, this place is in the arts district which feels like a different, quaint version of Las Vegas.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] (For those who know SoCo of yesteryear in Austin, Texas- that's what the Arts District is like--small shops selling vintage clothing, art, and other quirky items). [[HIGHLIGHT]]I loved that they had outdoor seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was flavorful and the salsa was deliciosos! Stop by Casa Don Juan and enjoy the Arts District as well.

QUESO!!! They have QUESO!!! As a person from the Midwest, it was a given to have a line up of salsa, queso, and chips at any Mexican restaurant. When I moved to Vegas, I had no idea it was going to be so difficult to find queso on the menu. 2 years later, I finally discovered Casa Don Juan. Their margaritas were incredible. The queso was everything I needed and more. The restaurant was clean and staff were on point. I wasn't super impressed with the flautas, but my friends meals look great. I'll happily explore the rest of the menu while snacking on chips and queso.

We went here for dinner based off of my parents recommendations and the food was delicious. I had a simple combination plate with a cheese quesadilla and a crunchy taco and it did not disappoint. My husband had the tamales and wasn't too impressed on those but everybody else enjoyed their food. The waiter was nice and attentive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I loved how the inside felt like an authentic Mexican restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We would definitely be going back the next time we go down to the area.

This is almost unbelievable if it didn't just happen in real life…read more My dad is in town visiting from Boston and he's turning 72 in 2 weeks so I wanted to take him out to dinner to celebrate before he leaves tomorrow. I've been to a few places at Fountainbleau in the past, Kyu, Mother Wolf, Chyna Club, and have been impressed with the ambiance and the food and generally the service so I decided to check out Don Prime. It was between here and Mayfair and I wanted somewhere where we can talk and connect and Mayfair seemed too loud and distracting. We came here and we ordered over $400 of food and drinks. Tomahawk seemed good though we barely ate any. Spinach was good. Bread was great. Drinks were well-made. Crab cake was tasty. Our servers, Isai and Rob were fine. We were in the corner and enjoying the evening. Not 30 minutes into our meal the manager, Zee, came to our table and not so nicely told us that we were being too loud. What in the world? There was only two of us and my old dad who is a bit hard of hearing. We sat at 90 degrees to each other, not even across the table. This was not a table of drunken bachelor party crowd. We were not taking shots. We were not dancing on the tables or stomping our feet. We did not laugh uproariously (my dad doesn't really laugh at all lol). We kept all our clothes on. I've been dining out for many decades and never have anyone told me to be quiet, not to mention in such a rude and condescending way. But even if we were unreasonably loud, which I highly doubt, I would have really appreciated it if she used a friendlier, less judgmental tone and/or told me in private. Just pull me aside girl. My dad is visiting from across the country. I don't know if I get another dinner with him anytime soon or maybe ever again and I hate for this to be our last memory together. Me being told I'm being too loud in a restaurant when we were in a corner seat with two tables within 10 feet and I'm spending $500 for a 1.5 hour dinner to essentially have a conversation and bond, which I was not able to do since I stopped talking afterwards and felt humiliated. I was so shocked I didn't know how to react so I didn't for a while. I stopped eating too. I think the issue comes down to that I didn't feel like we were unreasonably loud and I was confused and shocked. I stopped talking because I felt self- conscious and didn't feel comfortable there anymore. Since I lost my appetite and didn't feel comfortable talking any more, there was no point in being there. We each had one piece of the tomahawk and the evening felt ruined. I asked to speak with the manager and lo and behold, it's.... Zee!! The same woman who rudely told us to basically stop talking. She was less than understanding, fake, rude, and basically told us to shove it up... How is this person the manager of a upscale dining establishment?? She was a straight up liar too. She told us multiple people complained. There were only two table within 20 feet of us. One table had one diner and he talked to us for a bit, was friendly, and left. Another table had 6 guys and were definitely louder than us. I stopped by and asked if we were bothering them with our loud voices and they said no. None of them ever turned around to look at us. No one else was even within earshot and everyone was talking and laughing. This is a restaurant. Not a meditation retreat. Aren't you supposed to socialize here? Even celebrate? I paid the $430 tab after not eating our meal and as I was walking to the parking, I felt so unsettled I turned around to ask about a refund since we didn't actually eat the steak or finish the meal. The same manager, Zee (I cannot get away from her), told us to leave and that there's security?? She was so unbelievably rude and condescending. I don't know what ever we did to offend her. I did notice that we were the only Asian people in the restaurant and maybe she didn't like us speaking Mandarin. My dad also pointed out that he noticed some racist vibes from her. So much baseless hatred. She threatened to call security on me even though I had not done anything aside from ask to dispute the bill and I was very aware to keep my voice extra low at this point. What was supposed to be a happy evening of celebration turned into one of the worst nights of my life. Humiliated. Treated with complete disdain, and after spending $300 on a steak we barely touched and it's now sitting in my fridge. I cannot even look at it and I stayed up until 5am last night so upset. This is simultaneously the worst treatment and most expensive meal I've ever had the displeasure of having.

Space in clean and bright. Service was fast, even though every table was taken and several bar seats, with to go orders coming in too. We went on our way to a show at the Smith center and will definitely be back next time we have a show! Now let's talk about the food. We ordered 2 tacos and the ceviche sampler. Out the door it was $50-55 after tax and tip. The tacos were DELICIOUS. We ate them so quickly that we didn't even get a picture. They came out hot and gooey but didn't fall apart. The flavors were remarkable. The ceviche was next level. There were 3 different vibes. 1) a traditional ceviche flavor with citrus and a bit of a bite. 2) a cocktail sauce sort of flavor that was light and refreshing and a nice counter part to the sharpness of the traditional. 3) a sesame oil type flavor that was also light and refreshing but with a deeper toasty flavor to it. We argued over which one was the best, not with each other, but with ourselves! Because every time we took a bite of a different one we were sure THAT was the best one... Until we took another bite of the one next to it. I appreciate that the amount of chips was perfect for the ceviche, not feeling like we had leftover of ceviche or chips and had to eat disproportionate amounts of one or the other for any bites. There were two of us, and we were both very hungry. We finished off all food, and we walked away exactly and perfectly full and SLIGHTLY stuffed (we didn't feel sick but might have if we had eaten a couple more bites). Our only problem that we have been arguing over is when we go back, do we get the same items because we loved them so so so much? Or do we try something new?
