Finally got to this place, have heard a little about it, people impressed by the surroundings and the novelty but the service really not to par. As we requested the service for wine tasting, one of my friends let us know that the wine she was served tasted more like vinegar than wine, proceeded to ask the person pouring the servings how long had the bottle been opened as she was served the last of it, he claimed that it was opened in the morning but the timeline did not agreed with his response, we asked to have the tasting replaced with fresh wine to what he refused turning disrespectful and patronizing, he implied that we had no idea as how to value the tastings and dismissed us to continue to be busy with his cell. Will never return to that winery, it is so sad that a person can misrepresent their company in such manner read more

Ehhhhh, this place was so so, I think I had higher expectations. So we went in on a Saturday afternoon and it was pretty empty still. We accidentally tried to enter through the exit and a security guard told us to go around to the other side because we needed to go through the metal detectors. So we did, and we all beeped as we went through but the employee let us go in anyway because she said the guy who checked wasn't available.. so I'm not sure what the point of us going around was for. Once in, we sat in the patio to eat. The menu isn't very large, with only a handful of options as actual entrees and a lot of seafood. The service was really good though. Our server was attentive and friendly and all the other wait staff were constantly passing by all the tables to pick up empty plates and glasses. Once finished eating we went into their tasting room just to look at their Frida paintings which were amazing. And they even have a little couch for their kitty Diego, who's so cute!! He was sleeping though so we didn't get to see him up and around. Overall, it's an ok place but with so many other options in Valle for wine, this unfortunately is not a "must stop" for me. read more

Great ambiance and open late! After a day of wine tastings and incredible meal, the squad wanted to make one last stop before heading back to San Diego. Our driver and a waiter at the restaurant where we had dinner both recommended Casa Frida. This review is for the ambiance and service since I chose not to indulge in any beverages here other than an orange Fanta. As others have mentioned and as you can see from the pictures, the design is bright and vibrant. You can feel the creative and fun energy. It was a Saturday night and the rooftop was bumpin' with music. It was reservation only so we'll have to save that for next time. We ended up sitting at the outdoor bar on top of haystacks, where there was also great music and full-service. The waiters were attentive and the ambiance was fantastic - there was even a SDSU basketball game playing on the projector. Overall a fun time. Frida was the last spot on our winery tour and is definitely more of a party scene. We started with a wine tasting, which was inside in a tasting room with decent wines but nothing that stuck out. After the tasting we were able to go upstairs to the rooftop for the dj that comes on a sunset. Super fun on the rooftop, but you should definitely try to get a reservation because there was a super long line and we just got lucky that our group was allowed up. Once up there you need to be at a table but people started to congregate by the dj at certain points. They have some great drinks - the Carajillo was a fan favorite and I also tried to order a mezcal cocktail and ended up with a champagne flute of mezcal with an orange slice (which ended up being amazing mezcal that I loved). I'd say a solid 3- pretty average all around. When you walk in you are consumed with all of the pretty art and cool spots to take pictures. The staff at the front were welcoming and explained the different areas to seat/eat/drink in. We chose the Lagos area because it was hot and this area provided the most shade. Our waiter was decent. Mostly attentive. I think I had higher expectations of the drinks. The sangria was ok, and the mojito was whack. We also ordered the cheese board. I think the bees enjoyed it more than we did, as they we eating off it the whole time we sad. There were so many bees at our table it was uncomfortable. We mentioned it to the waiter, and even pointed out that they we on the food, and it was dismissed. Overall it was a cool experience. This place surpassed my expectations! Came here for my birthday with two other couples. We got the wine tasting and tequila tasting underground artsy tour!! Pros: place had a lot of instagram opportunities. The reason I am giving them 1 star at all. Cons: Service was very unprofessional. Came to visit and ended getting seated in Latidos. We were a group of 20 and they had agreed to split the check in two tables and we sat according to what we drank. We told them if they couldn't split the check we would just split up and go to different sections. They assured us they would split it in two. One side ordered bottle service and the other side didn't. I ordered a plate of tacos and they were never brought to us. When we were ready to pay they told us they were still going to charge them to us because they brought them and someone in another table said it was theirs. Why would we pay for something someone else consumed? So I told him if they were going to charge us anyways to please bring them out now and they said yes. When they brought them out they wanted to charge us for the tacos again! When we finally were going to pay they said they were also not going to split the tables anymore. It's completely unprofessional to say one thing and then go back on what they said. After going back and forth for 20 mins they agreed to honor what they said they would do to begin with. They also got mad about the amount we decided to tip. Service was not good, we tipped because we were being nice. We would have tipped more if service was up to par. Then, We finally paid and were finishing up the drinks we had. Some people in our group decided to go to the bar and order some drinks to go. While they were ordering security kept coming up to us asking us to clear the bar and go back to our tables. I told them they were paying for drinks they just ordered at the bar as our tab was closed. Our group had had an amazing time touring different wineries and our experience in this winery ruined the trip for us. They need to train their staff better to work with big groups. This is the so called spot to be at in the valle de Guadalupe. We reserved 2 vip tables in the upstairs of the bar and had a good time . Service - our server was super attentive and polite he was on top of things and didn't have to ask him twice for anything. They also have a bar tender on a rolling cart going around just in case your server is busy. Drinks were nothing out of the ordinary and to be honest a big let down. They don't have a full selection of alcohol and while very limited nothing to really stand out . It's so insane to travel to Mexico and feel like you're almost in Napa. I am a self proclaimed wino. I love going to wineries and I've been to several throughout all of CA. From the bay down to so cal. But NONE beat casa frida. The margarita flight was so good. I was shocked how the Serrano Chile margarita ended up being my favorite one and I thought I'd hate it. It took me a while to actually feel like I wanted to come visit this winery because I felt like they were using the name of the artist as a marketing tool. I do not like that idea but today I decided to go in to taste their wines because people have told me that they are very good. When i walked in, i was blown away by the beautiful decor and colors of bright elegance. I was impressed by the interior design and tasted the premium wines with an acompañamiento of chocolates. The wines are as follows. Diego" is a blend of two grapes. Nebbiolo 60% Barbera 40%. It is a strong wine with blackberry essence. The next wine is called "Latidos" 100% Syrah and is very good and very strong with pomegranate flavors. The next wine "Miradas" is 60% tempranillo and 40% malbec. It has never been in a barrel. It was feemented in aluminum tanks. It is definitely not worth $40. It would be great to make sangria. The last wine is "Pasion de Frida" 100% Nebbiolo. It is very easy to drink, not as bold as I had anticipated. I did not buy any wines but I bought a box of chocolates read more
