Although it seems like a shabby hole-in-the-wall restaurant, it's actually pretty good. The food is as authentic as a grandmother's and the service is great. The waiters are cheerful and ready to get you anything you need. The food, if you get the famous dishes, are great. It may not be the freshest, but you definitely won't get sick from it. The service here is horrible. The staff is rude and our food never came. The staff had friends that came after us and they were seated where they wanted to sit. Which they did not let us do. Their food was ordered and served before us. Our drinks order was taken only after our 10min wait and by a very rude woman who didn't even wait to take all of our orders. We had 2 young children who were hungry, not a good place if you have children. There was no communication as to what was happening. The man who was seating people had a table that was open reserved for his friends that he did not want to give up. The lady taking our order was mean and was hurrying us up to order. After about 45mins waiting we left. Do not go here. When you first arrive they make you wait at the door while they ignore you till they want to help you. It is always crowded and the service is really bad. If I could give no stars I would. Worst place ever. read more

Came here on 1/20/18 with my girlfriend after a night of heavy drinking. Ordered the combination cocktail and a michelada. Definitely brought me back to life! The cocktail had shrimo octopus crab meat and albacore The servers were kind and attentive. They actually have a plaque dedicated to the importance of customers ! And the price was great ! AYCE Mexican food? They do exist! The food is good, the prices are decent. The Bathroom is amazingly modern and clean. Their bussing area needs to be cleared faster, because flies/bugs are attracted to that area due to the used dishes. I do recommend eating here, I enjoy the food and I'm repeat customer. I've been coming here since I moved to la puente many years ago. The food has always been great and I still love it. The last 6 times I've visited Casa J the customer service has gone down hill. Worst service I have ever had! I went during my lunch hour on a Thursday, this was my first time, and I can guarantee you it will definitely be my last. I waited almost 15 minutes to be seated when there was clearly tables available. One of the waitresses didn't even acknowledge my presence until almost 10 minutes and then told me to wait until she cleaned off a table (even though there were a few already cleaned). I felt like leaving, and should have, but I'm already 25 minutes into an hour lunch. Both of the waitresses were a bit rude and unfriendly, which I thought was odd because I was being extremely polite even though they made me wait for no good reason. I totally agree with another review about the dirty dishes on the counter, it looks gross and unsanitary. As for the food, it was alright, nothing to complain about. But because of the very bad service I will NEVER return and I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

I hate giving a bad review but unfortunately I can't let this one go by Casa Jimenez has been around for quite some time although some people seem to think the food is good beware the recycled salsa and chips as you can read some of the other reviews people have found such things as floss in the chips !!! How disgusting is that I've heard of some restaurants trying to cut corners but that is simply ridiculous maybe the health department should pay them a visit .... We just came from this restaurant from turning in recycling. We were not dressed very nice. The food was delicious, but they charged us $1 above the menu price. We asked to see the menu and the man who looked to be in charge showed it to us explaining what he was saying quickly. I pointed out that it clearly stated two items beef and chicken was $12.95. He said that it had changed and they were getting new menus printed. We had asked for corn and 1 flour tortilla to go with the fajitas, and they charged us 75 cents without informing us that it was extra. They just made a big time mistake. We liked the place and were planning on coming back with the rest of our family multiple times, but since they are going dishonest and pushy about it. I decided to try this location due to the better reviews, but I'm gonna stick with the Baldwin Park one because it's closer and has better service. Staff are nice at this one, but they're slow. Took a while for them to notice our empty cups to refill our sodas. Didn't check up on us routinely. Plus first time here and they got my order wrong. Geez. They were willing to fix it though. We did the AYCE. I was waiting for someone to come back to take our order for the 2nd round but they took forever. I just wants more albondigas soup but decided to forget it due to the wait.
