I purchased albondigas in cash and ran out fast to deliver them to my grandma who just came out of the hospital. As I was driving back home I get a call that they were spoiled. Yes! My grandma who barely got her appetite back tasted them. And my mom tried it too, to confirm. I called them and off the bat they accused me of lying. Not in the "you liar " no there like are you sure? Do you have a receipt ? When did you come? Come back and bring the soup? I've worked in La Puente for almost 20 years and have heard of Villa Cariño but had never actually made the time to visit. I'm so glad I did! Great service, great vibe, and delicious authentic Mexican cuisine. Everything is made in house and is fresh and delicious. The Chile verde pork is tender and flavorful. Food was 7/10, the salsa for the chips was really good & spicy. My menudo was ok the hominy could have been cooked more they were a lil hard. Service was good too was greeted by all the señoras which was nice makes you feel like family. We loved the ambiance really felt like were in mexico, loved the whole decor & we voted a bonus some guy came in playing the violin which made out experience even better! I don't wanna sound like a food critic but comparing this food to true Mexican just sets us as bad. To begin with the horchata was tasteless like they just used the powder. The service was ok I guess. The salsa for the chips wasn't even spicy for a fact anything we ordered was just plain and tasteless. My parents (true Mexican) even said they hated the meat at the point where some was undercooked and some was overcooked. This is a lot but even I don't complain about food! I haven't even seen the price yet but for the range it is... don't come. Please just find some where else. Update the price is !! It was my first time here yesterday because I had to get my car tinted across the street. I walked in & I stood there for about a solid 3 minutes not being acknowledged although two servers were passing by me & saw me. (if they still didn't acknowledge I was gonna walk out). The server was nice. She did well & very welcoming as she sat me down & took my order. Ambiance was not too fancy just a cozy little restaurant. Food was ok. They had complimentary chips & salsa. I ordered an asada plate with extra guac on the side. The plate came with 3 tortillas of your choice. I got corn & it was delicious. The main dish was a 3/5. It was lacking seasoning. Pico de gallo was not as fresh I'd like it to be. Overall, it wasn't that bad. Food was ok. read more

Villa Carino MR is a cozy neighborhood eatery that serves most if not all the traditional breakfast, lunch and dinner dishes typically found in Mexican American restaurants. My take is this is a reasonably priced place to satisfy those gnawing urges salsa dancing in your gut for Menudo, Enchiladas, Huevos, Chorizo, Chilaquiles, Machaca, Hard shell tacos, etc. While waiting for your order, VCMR provides a snackable basket of chips and fresh salsa. The generous complimentary chunky salsa is created with fire roasted chiles and packs goldilocks heat, not too mild and not too hot. On a recent visit I ordered the chilaquiles with steak which also comes with beans and potatoes. The steak was well cooked and savory. The flavorful chilaquiles were prepared with green salsa and the tortillas were crunchy. Portions are medium size. The dining area has booths and tables with service being friendly efficient. The servers are very attentive, and orders are prepared/served quickly. There is a free parking lot in front and some street parking. read more

Villa Cariño is one of the few mexican restaurants that fullfill the resposability of bringing the flavors and tradicional dishes close to or authentic mexican food. We are regulars here, if it wasn't good no way I'be back at least once a week. Service it's efficient and friendly, they start you off with salsa de molcajete and fresh chips. They also have a whole or half of queso fresco with either corn or flour tortillas as a starter. I've tried several dishes and I haven't been dissapointed once, my favorite are the quesadillas de flor de calabaza and huitlacoche. Just a warning, they are pretty big so make sure to bring your appetite. The reason I didn't post any pics is becuase I usually come here with my mom and she is old school, if I pull my phone to take pictures while eating, she will smack me with her cane. Happy atmosphere, sometimes there will be someone singing. Give it a try and you won't be dissapointed it. read more

Para empezar ordenamos un molcajete con pollo carne y camarón al recibir el molcajete venía sin camarones le dijimos a la mesera y fue decirle a los cocineros en eso me traen lo que pedí yo que fueron camarones con tocino y al darle la mordida al camarón literal el camarón por dentro estaba como Recién comprado de una Marketa así crudo y negrillo, inmediatamente lo saqué de la boca y le avisé a la mesera y dijo ay estos muchachos se lleva los camarones y nos trae los camarones que hacían falta en el molcajete, inmediatamente podemos ver que los camarones en medio igual están crudos total decidimos hacer a un lado esos camarones y me levanto avisarle a la Mesera que yo no quiero mi orden para atrás porque me dio mucho asco cuando regreso a la mesa me dice mi esposo que el chorizo está crudo, nos levantamos a pagar el molcajete y nos pregunta la muchacha que si todo salió bien y le dijimos que los camarones y el chorizo estaban crudos nos dijo que le iba hablar a alguien y al final nos dijo que no teníamos que pagar nada menos mal pero ese no es un error cualquiera esas son chingadera s.
