Came here late one night with a big group. I was grateful they were able to acommadate on a Friday in short notice. The staff was extremely friendly and sweet. The food was very underwhelming and nothing was very impressive in taste. I got a shredded beef taco plate and felt like the beef and beans tasted a day old. The best part of the dish was the rice and fresh lettuce and cheese. Everyone did think their food was ok or good, no one was wowed or waiting to come back. The drinks however were great and made to perfection. There was a lot of waiting in between but that was expected since they were probably not prepared to open the other side of the restaurant. I am visiting Palm Springs and wanted to get some Mexican food, Casa Mendoza did not disappoint! The restaurant is located in a very nice area with lots of shops and restaurants. Parking was fairly easy. The atmosphere is great, a lot of people and very nice servers. They greet you with some chips and salsa, very delicious! The food was a 10/10, lots of options and good quality food. The fajitas were amazing I just wish they would give us more tortillas. The beans, rice and guacamole were really good! There wasn't alot of options at 9 pm on a Tuesday night. We gave Casa Mendoza a chance and we were not rewarded. My friend and I both got combination plates. We are in agreement that the food was terrible. The rice and beans were flavorless. The waitress asked if I wanted a box because there was a lot of food left on my plate. Didn't care for this place at all. The total lack of service didn't help. It was 8pm and the place was almost empty but the waitress seemed more interested in chit chatting f with the few regulars at the bar than waiting on us. The food was not my cup of tea. We're LOVERS of great cal Mex food and eat out twice a week. This food was marginal at best and the the presentation was awful. When we order a chili rellenos or a couple enchiladas just give it to us on a plate with some rice and maybe a teeny scoop of beans in the corner. Whomever prepared our dishes just dumped so much bean slop on my plate that everything on the platter was drowning. Took me a minute to even find the puny chili rellenos that was suffocating under the gallon of bean slop spilling off the plate. My wife's enchiladas were the same. It looked like a boat had gone down in a lake as she tried to dig out the enchiladas from the soup that was everywhere. Fixing this issue is so easy. Just take some pride in the presentation. Dont put together a plate like that and say "that's how my grandma served it." This isn't your grandmas house. Instead go out and eat at some quality Mexican restaurants and see how a restaurant dish is prepared to guests. Those are two very different hinge. read more

First time customer. We had the carnitas and the 3 plate combo; chile relleno, cheese enchilada and beef taco. All were okay, not great. Chile relleno had far too much egg batter, taco was a little bland. The carnitas were a little dry, even on the inside. They had mariachi's, which were very good. Service was a bit slow, had to ask twice to refill our waters. Where we sat, in front of the mariachis it was very loud, so be careful of you want to carry on a conversation with your table mates. We enjoyed Valentines Dinner at Casa Mendoza this year. It was not too crowded around 7:30, they had live mariachi and seating was available in the dining room, and bar areas. We split the tostada salad and mini beef chimichangas . The chicken tostada salad was delicious, with fresh and flavorful chicken breast over shredded lettuce, beans, cheese sour cream and guacamole. The mini chimichangas were amazing!! I highly recommend trying them, I loved the flavor and addition of chopped sautéd chile peppers. Found this gem of a Mexican restaurant while visiting Palm desert for a wedding. It's so authentic & the staff was so great. William the bartender who took care of us was so nice & welcoming. we were so impressed with his michelada knowledge. This restaurant is also so beautiful inside. He told me they were known for there asada and I'm so glad I listened. My fiance got menudo, a crunchy taco and enchiladas. All were delicious & cured our wedding hangover lol. So we love the one in LQ, we thought let's give this one a chance. Me and my partner went and got seated pretty quickly. That was about the only thing that went well. We ordered slush margaritas (didn't taste good at all) Our server was horrible and when we finally asked for our check I told her if she could remove the margarita. She seemed surprise but never came once to check on our table or else I would have told her the drink wasn't good at all. (I barely touched it) I had also ordered some lemons and onions on the side (those never came) and when I told her she just gave me "ok what do you want me to do about it?" Literally nodded her head and everything, she was upset that we didn't like her service but there wasn't nothing to like. The drinks were bad, her service was even worse she never checked on us and to top it off there was a legit COCKROACH on the WALL. She tried playing it off saying "it doesn't pay rent" like what?! Place is gross and staff is untrained! My family and I are in town on vacation and decided to leave our resort and try some local restaurants. We chose this Mexican restaurant and from the minute we arrived everything looked gloomy and stuffy, but that's fine I can get past that and finally after waiting for several minutes to be sat down (even though there was no one else waiting and staff we're having full blown conversations- knowing fully well we were all waiting there, standing listening to their conversation too) ok I can let that pass too I guess. Finally they take all 5 of us to the table and lo and behold! Gross menus with dry salsa on them for who knows how long, I looked at the menu and only to realize that if their menus are Thai gross then their kitchen probably is as well. My sister and I went to Casa Mendoza in Palm Desert on a visit back in February and we were very impressed with the salsa and the fajitas that we had. When I moved here a few weeks ago, I decided to go back to Casa Mendoza for some fajitas again and it was wonderful. They gave a huge portion and lots of great vegetables.
