Also no. You come here for the setting, and on that front, it's a 500% yes. The place is gorgeous. Walking in feels like you've somehow traveled back in time to a Mexican hacienda from the early 1900s. A very aesthetically pleasing hacienda, obviously. Courtyards, fountains, greenery, colorful details, old-school architecture. The whole place has character for days. The staff was warm and friendly, and the food did its job. Plates are hugeeeee! Go check it out but make reservations. MENU: Easy to read, not too much to overwhelm a starving person and great combos for lunch or dinner. A definitely go to place when coming to visit. This place is so much bigger than it seems on the outside. There is a nice outdoor patio for sitting outside which is nice when the weather is perfect--not too hot and not too cold. The inside dining area is also large and can fit big groups. The biggest problem with coming here is deciding what to order. We ordered creamy guacamole (small). The guacamole was nice and creamy but it was a little bland. It definitely needs a little something more to add some flavor. The flautas, Hermosillo, chimichanga, and relleno vaquero were delicious. The meat was perfectly cooked, tender and moist. The sauces were also all different and paired nicely with each course. Service in a restaurant this size is very impressive as they are able to keep tabs on all their tables and will keep you updated on the status and fix anything that might come up. This is huge considering many people order the table side guacamole which takes time and servers away from other tables. Definitely a place to come to. We've been wanting to go there since you moved to the desert a couple years ago. Ambience was nice, but that's where it ended. The food was really not very good. Very lackluster. Not much flavor at all. With so many other Mexican restaurants in the valley, I would not suggest this one. Overall the service was fine once the server finally talked to us after about 10 minutes. After we got home, most of us felt sick from dinner. Unfortunately we won't be back. Too many other options out there. read more

Excellent Mexican food! Recently stayed in Palm Springs and this place kept coming up as a recommendation from the locals. There was a location close to my hotel but we decided to make the drive and explore the Rancho Mirage area. I went around lunch time on a Wednesday afternoon. There were quite a few customers at that time but no wait. I was impressed by the sheer size of the restaurant. There's a very large parking lot, beautiful fountains, large areas for both outdoor and indoor seating. I liked the authentic Mexican tile and decor which made me think of one of my many trips to Mexico. All of the staff that I came in contact with were very friendly and professional. The portions are large and the food is served piping hot which I love. Margaritas are solid and compliments the meal nicely. No complaints whatsoever. Just delicious Mexican food made authentic and to order. Definitely worth the visit anytime I'm in town. read more

We have been coming here for many years, always great food and chips/salsa are on point. We used to drag people here just for the Margaritas alone, but I'm not sure if things are changing? We used to just get one fiesta Cadillac margarita, and they were incredibly strong and delicious without being overly sweet. "One and done" we would say! I feel over the last year, the trips we've taken here they have changed them... seems like less tequila and more sweet stuff, which has made them still "decent" but not the incredible margaritas that used to make us go out of our way to get them! I understand now your"kids " menu is based on age. 9 is a pretty low number for an age on "kids". What I don't understand is how you think it's ok to have so much food waste? The price of two kids meals is about 25-27 dollars. The same price as two kids splitting a two item combo. So it's not about price but about the parents knowing what a child is going to eat or not. We wanted to step out from our hotel for dinner and decided to drive to Las Casuelas. We were extremely happy we did! Mexican food is our favorite food and found what we had been craving. Delicious margaritas, fresh civeche, a very tasty carne asada burrito, a perfectly spiced blackened shrimp salad and to top it off, deep fried ice cream, because, why not? Outside seating is lovely when it's not too hot. There are plenty of tables and misters, but inside is just as lovely in the air conditioned restaurant. Service here was ten stars and parking can be a bit tough. We luckily found parking in front on the street. We highly recommend a visit here for authentic Mexican food. Enjoy! read more

Zero-Star Review This is a zero-star review. We went here to celebrate my mother's and aunt's birthdays. The food was okay, but we've definitely had better Mexican food. I think the ambiance was better than the food. The first issue was when I asked our waiter if they had a steak and shrimp plate. He said no, then thought about it for a moment and said they did. Later, I asked him if they had Starry, as I had already asked if they carried Pepsi or Coke products. He said they didn't have Starry and then changed his answer and said yes. There were two other birthday celebrations in the restaurant, making four birthdays total. Before they brought my mom's and aunt's desserts out, they brought one of the other birthday desserts to their table. I noticed that it was served in a bowl with whipped cream and a candle. When our waiter brought my mom's and aunt's desserts, they were simply flan with a candle. I wondered why the other table received a nicer dessert while they did not. We were the only Black table in the restaurant, but I didn't want to assume that had anything to do with it. However, when the fourth birthday dessert was brought out and it was presented the same way as the first one, with whipped cream in a bowl, I became more concerned. I asked our waiter why the other tables were receiving different desserts and whether there were other options. He told me that they received flan with whipped cream. As we were exiting, we happened to walk by one of the tables, and I saw that their dessert was actually ice cream with chocolate syrup. I asked them if they enjoyed their ice cream, and they said yes. When I turned around, our waiter was standing behind me and gave me a dirty look. Then, while we were in the parking lot, the waiter ran outside and demanded that we add a tip to our bill. Tips are not legally required; they are a courtesy. Based on his failure to extend the basic courtesy of simply being honest with us, I did not feel that he deserved a tip. His behavior was dishonest, incompetent, unprofessional, and showed a lack of knowledge about basic items and options available at the restaurant. I would suggest a write-up, additional on-the-job training, and possibly cultural sensitivity training. No waiter should ever run after a table because they did not leave a tip. I honestly believe my uncle simply forgot to leave one, but regardless of the reason, following a group of customers into the parking lot to demand a tip is not appropriate or good customer-service practice. This was a very disappointing experience. We come down every year to celebrate this birthday, and we were specifically recommended this restaurant. I will be letting the person who recommended it know about our experience and will no longer recommend this restaurant to anyone I know who is visiting the area. The waiter's name was Ezequiel, and I will be calling tomorrow to file a formal complaint. read more

We were a party of 8 plus an infant so we called and spoke to Gilbert . He was very accommodating. We had a nice table in a semi private section of the restaurant which is huge. Our server was great as was the entire staff. They took exceptional care of us. I had a combo plate with a cheese enchilada and ground beef taco. My wife had a black bean and chicken tostada. Let's start with ambience Was Through the atmosphere! Couple of people in our party had to ask for something, multiple times more then 3-4 times so service was OK I'm not gonna bash because we were a big party. The restaurant was packed and this restaurant is super super huge so I'm not gonna knock on it too bad but although it was subpar. The Food - it was OK A few things came wrong. I myself ordered the green burrito in the picture. It was a bit sour. Which is they are supposed to be, but not this overly sour but it was definitely edible. My wife ordered the chicken and steak fajitas. Steak was very dry. Chicken was OK and everybody in our party just kind of said the same about the food. It was OK. Nothing to write home about. BUT !!!! They have three restaurants this is the very upscale one the one that is downtown Palm Springs. The original is way better. I don't know if they're fully affiliated but at this location, you are paying double the price just for the ambience which was very very very good. I do recommend going to the one downtown Palm Springs. It's just a smaller restaurant low-key and the food is better has a more authentic taste. I'm not gonna bash this restaurant because it was busy. It is a huge restaurant and we did have a large party so I'm gonna give it three stars. read more

I might amp up the place to $$$ from the current $$, if you've going to have any sort of starters or alcohol, but still priced well. And the portions are as huge as the restaurant itself! I love the architecture of this building they built for the restaurant. Waitress told us a local architect designed for the restaurant owner family to expand their business in 1979 and it's a beauty. First, the ambiance is Amazing. You feel like you are at a Mexican casita. The outdoor patio is beautiful and the interior feels very welcoming. The service was impeccable. The food was just as good! Thanks to another helpful Yelp! review we found this gem! Sat on the patio on a Sunday afternoon with my family and we were seated quickly. (my only complaint, the hostess was a bit snotty) We had water and chips and salsa with in just a few minutes and the salsa was the perfect level of spicy. Our server Raul was quick also, and super funny with his first question being, "which margarita will you be having today?" Ha! Absolutely love the wait staff, the decor and enchanting ambience are historic and beautiful... The family owners of this restaurant obviously take extreme pride in this location. I always judge a restaurant by the salsa and chips... if those are good, you got a winner! They win the trophy! Wife thoroughly enjoyed an ample chicken taquito with chicken enchilada. I had the Puerta Vallarta: beef taco with cheese enchilada. Beans were perfectly cooked and seasoned, mexican rice was exactly the way it should be. The beef taco was filled to the top with well seasoned beef, not lettuce like most places. Mango margaritas were not watered down and you got a good level of tequila. If a perfect mexican restaurant existed, it would be this one. Cheers to the entire staff and owners on being the top of the list for us. Was a bit hesitant when we drove up because the place looks classy and we just wanted something easy for lunch. We had our dog with us, as we are traveling and it was too hot to leave her in the car. They welcomed us with open arms and even offered to bring her water. The place was not super busy, which was nice! The outside seating area is huge and nicely shaded. The Michelada was very good! The chips and salsa was good and even had spice to them! I ordered choose your own 3 combo, the shredded beef taco, chili relleno, and chili verde enchilada. It was all very good and large portions. This had some hits and misses for me. I think the restaurant itself is beautiful and I felt like I was in a Mexican hacienda when I walked into the main area. The patio was okay, but I would have preferred to eat inside. The staff was all very friendly and we talked it up for a while with a waiter named Jose who was a good guy and very attentive. The food was fairly good, my wife and I split a carne asada burrito and also table side quacamole. The burrito was flavorful, but the guacamole could have used more salt and limes (which we added).
