Two stars for the good drinks and good service. Food was awful! Chips and salsa are served with a mix of "pieces" of corn tortilla chips and soggy flour chips, not a good start. I ordered a chicken taco and beef burrito dinner, most places serve a sauce over the burrito or at least ask if you want sauce, this burrito came dry (did not bother to ask after the fact) and I honestly could not tell you the meat in my taco some pieces looked like chicken but then chunks of pork maybe? The rice has no flavor at all! Beans just runny. My husband ordered the Fried fish with garlic sauce, the plate looked beautiful, but the fish was old and did not taste good. The kids had the cheese quesadilla dinner ($14) and grilled cheese ($6) they both liked the main dish but again did not enjoy the beans and rice. To many negatives to give it a second chance. To bad because the margarita was good (could use more alcohol for $8 but tasted good! read more

Unlike Porfi's (also in Lodi), Casa Mexicana IS frequented by Hispanics. If you're not Hispanic, you will be a minority in this establishment. Chili Relleno, Beef Taco, Pork Tamale, Machaca: Just average. They've had this sale for quite awhile now: 12 Pork Tamales for $12... pretty good, not much meat though. On Friday and Saturday nights, the front rooms of Casa Mexicana transforms itself a nightclub with space for dancing with live music! I'd recommend driving ten more miles south to Nena's if you're interested in GOOD Mexican food. read more

Went there yesterday to have lunch celebrating Wife's and daughters birthday. Place was empty only one other couple It was weird . The salsa had no taste it all and the chips where stale . The reason we choose this restaurant was because my wife wanted chicken mole When we got our food it looked good but it was nasty taste all you can taste on the mole was a extreme sugary taste like brown sugar. We returned the chicken mole dish and paid our bill and went to a another restaurant. Their high prices are understandable on this Economy but they should get someone that can cook Mexican food if they want to call Themselves CASA MEXICANA I don't recommend this place no wonder the place was empty read more

I've been coming here a lot and this review is long overdue! They have amazing mild salsa verde enchiladas! Best in Lodi by far. Ive tried both cheese and shrimp but the shrimp ones are the best! The service was good but the food wasn't. Birria tacos were not good and the rice was terrible. Chips and salsa are not good, salsa was watered down. The fresh tortillas didn't taste cooked. I've been going here for years now and I can sure say that all the workers here do their best to strive towards customer satisfaction. Everyone that works here does their best to make things right! Came here on a whim... Not disappointed. The food was delicious. Everything had flavor, not over done or under done because that can happen. I am very picky when it comes to Mexican food as no one can beat my mothers cooking. Although this place isn't "Mother Approved" I will be returning for those quick fix when mother doesn't feel like cooking. I had the chicken enchiladas with green sauce... Yummy. I have never experienced such flavorless food at a Mexican restaurant! I ordered chicken fajitas, and they were seasoned with salt and pepper. That's it; just salt and pepper. The salsa was basically tomato juice with cilantro and onions, no spice at all. The prices were way too high for this low quality food. I'm kind of in shock from how bad this place was. The rice had no flavor. No seasoning of any kind including salt. The beans were also completely unseasoned and they were liquid. Someone had started to melt cheese on top of them and I guess they got bored halfway through? Partially melted cheese is pretty unappetizing. The sope was inedible. A clunky pre-made sope with a small pile of (again totally unseasoned) overcooked carne asada, some lettuce and tomato. No beans, no cheese, no sour cream or hot sauce. The tortilla seemed like it might have had a shot at being good if they had cooked it all the way. This might be the most apathetic attempt at Mexican food I've ever had. It was just sad. There is no excuse for serving food this bad. I don't think anything on my plate was actually cooked after I ordered. It was just assembled from pre-cooked parts and none of them was fresh or well executed. The server was polite. read more

I love this place the owners make you feel like family. The husband is super friendly and always goes out of his way to take care of his customers. I have had just about everything on the menu over the years but I regularly order #28 now since it has three of my favorite things. The flour chips and home made salsa are delicious. They also have tubes of salsa you can ask for to add to your food. However, the 5 star rating comes from the service. I am huge on customer service and this place sets the bar very high. As long as I am in lodi I will continue to frequent this restaurant. The family and I come at least twice a month. read more

Very nice people. I had the Mexican omelette and it really was bland. Note to cook or cooks; don't overcook eggs, and add cheese. The omelette was so dry it seemed reheated and when you serve whole beans make sure they are moist. I mean this to help you. If you guys acknowledge my advice I'll gladly remove the review. I've been coming to this place since I was a kid. My go to plate is the burrito supreme asada with red sauce. The current price is $12.00, not too bad considering the burrito is the size of the plate. They have really good chips and salsa (ask for the flour chips). It's a nice family run restaurant that I will continue to visit regularly. read more

I don't often post restaurant reviews unless the food is really good or really bad. Unfortunately, in this case it was really bad. It was our first time here and based on previous reviews we expected fresh made chips and salsa. The chips that came were typical cheap store bought chips and the salsa watery and bland. I ordered a combination plate with taco, enchilada, and chimichanga. The taco was the worst I have ever been served. It was very dry, unseasoned shredded beef with no taste whatsoever. The enchilada was a little better but still extremely bland. The pork chimichanga was ok at best. There was some gravy around the enchilada but again extremely bland. My wife had shrimp fajitas which came already wrapped in flour tortillas. Again very bland with very, very few shrimp. Suffice it to say we will not be back. read more

Average Mexican food. The place was cold and so dark. The ladies restroom was dirty, cold and smelly. The price is high for what your getting. The beans are so runny, seems water down beyond normal. The best Mexican restaurant in Lodi and around this area. I've been going here for 16+ years. They have homemade tortillas and homemade tortilla chips!!! Their food is delicious it's flavorful and it's the most authentic food. my husband who is Mexican loves this restaurant and he also says that it is very authentic. He has tried probably everything on the menu and loves them all. But me I stick to the chile relleno and cheese enchilada because those are my favorite. So yummy. I don't know why people are putting bad reviews about Casa Mexicana they just don't know what real authentic good Mexican food is. The hand made tortillas are truly second to none. Aside from that you really shouldn't have high expectations. The main issue here is service. The past 4-5 times I have been here have been nothing short of terrible. In short: wait staff disappears for 15 minutes at a time meaning it can take as long as 30 minutes just to get your order placed. Once you do get your order in it can easily take 45 minutes for 3-4 entrees to come and over an hour for large groups. The upside is that if you can coax them into bringing more tortillas every so often you'll be set! In truth Casa Mexicana deserves one star however their tortillas carry a full star on their own. I sincerely hope they make some changes soon so that I can actually endure a return trip. read more

So I have been eating here again lately and I have to say the service has had some improvement. You definitely need to voice your need for a refill still but the attitude of the service has been much better. The food has also been consistently tasty again thank god because I love home made tortillas and they are the only place who does them right!! I love the super burrito here any choice of meat it's huge and delicious smothered in gravy! Yummy shredded beef tacos have been the bomb too. And now during the quarantine... we've ordered the Family Pack To-Go several times... extra beans, extra tortillas, and a side of gravy. Wonderful! This used to be one of my favorite places. Everything tasted like it was out of a can. There was no passion or flavor to their food. I hope that if I ever go back their food will taste authentic. I discovered this place when I lived in Lodi and was instantly impressed with their chips (some flour, made with their handmade tortillas) and their "extra hot" salsa that they said was made with chile de arbol.
