    La Torta del Barrio

Casa Ocho has their own spot in the back patio of Flor and Seed in Old Town San Diego! Perfect place to get your mexagrub on with your morning coffee from Flor and Seed. You can choose from their tortas, quesadillas, and chilaquiles, which is an all-vegetarian menu! Everything is delicious, but I highly recommend the La Torta del Barrio because there is chilaquiles inside the torta and cheese quesadilla on top! You get a really filling meal which is perfect because it includes everything they offer. They have amazing customer service and are very welcoming! I love their outdoor set-up and you can see them making your meals! Definitely a must-try!

Now located on the back patio of @florandseed in #oldtownsandiego , Casa Ocho is serving up street-style #mexagrub Thurs-Mon from 7am till sold out.   They're still at the La Jolla farmers market too so check out their insta and website for updated schedules. Their menu is simple - chilaquiles, tortas, & quesadillas.   Their Torta del Barrio combines all 3!  Chef Chris takes their delicious soft telera bread and stuffs it with chilaquiles, refried beans, monterrey jack cheese and soyrizo.  Then he tops it with a soyrizo quesadilla!   The combination of the spicy red sauce and creamy house made cilantro crema & chipotle aioli with the different textures was like a happy dance in our mouths   We also shared an order of chilaquiles on their own and we're obsessed.   So much flavor! We love what they're doing here, bringing unique #vegetarian flavors to the #mexicanfood scene.  We will be back for more!

Casa Ocho just had their grand opening in Old Town and we were invited to come try their food. The owners are an engaged couple and are sooo nice and kind and friendly. The chilaquiles were delicious they came with corn tortillas, red sauce, sour cream, cotija cheese, soyrizo avocado and was just perfection. We also ordered the Chilaquiles con madre plate which is the chilaquiles inside tellera roll and a quesadilla on top! I really loved everything here and can't wait to go back!

Casa Ocho serves all-day street breakfast with all the flavors of Mexico slapped onto a plate. They have a vegetarian menu of torta's and chilaquiles. I tried their La Torta Del Barrio (Torta + Quesadilla) and Chilaquiles Con Madre. It was my first time trying Torta and I am definitely going back for more. Casa Ocho is located at the back of Flor and Seed coffee shop in Old Town San Diego. They serve here Thur-Mon from 7am till SOLD OUT and also at La Jolla Farmers Market, every Mon 9am-1pm

We stopped by a famer's market on a random Sunday afternoon in La Jolla and stumbled upon this food vendor making incredible looking food that made our mouths water, so naturally, we had to give them a try! They have an all-vegetarian menu which is what initially drew my Husband and I over to their tent, and when we saw the grill master cooking up some good eats, we knew we made a good choice! We ordered the chilaquiles to share, they come topped with soyrizo (plant based chorizo) and the red ranchero sauce and were the perfect amount for sharing. They were one of the most delicious chilaquiles we had ever tried, I definitely recommend giving this business a try!

We got our customary classic Old Fashioneds and they were definitely delicious. My wife then got a Mezcal Old Fashioned and it was surprisingly delicious. The bartenders were very attentive, gracious, and fun to be around. We then got our food which was 50% off because of the happy hour. We got cochinita tostaditas, carne asada quesadilla, and pastor quesadilla. The portions were just right. All 3 items were very delicious! The restaurant/bar was full and the atmosphere was very pleasant. We've been here a few times and will continue to return!

The carne asada was my favorite out of the three. I'm knocking down a star because the carnitas were pretty mushy and bland. If you like spice, ask them for their habanero hot sauce! It has a major kick so a little goes a long way. I also ordered the chips and guac which came with a huge bowl of house made tortilla chips and huge dollop of guac on top. This was some of the best guac I've ever had so I recommend this as a starter for the table.

I heard reservations were required months out but i went in the same day. It was the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend around lunch time but they took walk ins left and right so maybe just dinner is what needs to be booked in advance? The decor was immaculate and everything that came out was delicious and it came out very fast. It is connected to the Lafayette hotel which has the jungle room, bowling alley, pool and multiple bars. You can easily spend the day here. Mmmm not if you have kids though. 10/10 recommend

Our server was attentive at first, but later in the evening it became difficult to find her when we needed things like water refills. We ordered the Oaxacan fondue, ribs, grilled fish, and chicken tacos. The stars of the meal were definitely the Oaxacan fondue and the ribs -- both were flavorful. Unfortunately, the grilled fish was a disappointment and didn't live up to the rest of the dishes.

Delicious food, great view, and wonderful hospitality!…read more On our last evening in San Diego, we went to Coasterra to wrap up our vacation there. This restaurant came highly recommended by major Visit San Diego websites, and we felt we should give it a try. Located right next to the water, the restaurant offers expansive view of the harbor and the San Diego skyline. Sitting is about 50/50 indoor vs. outdoor, and we chose the indoor sitting as it tended to get colder in the evening. Parking is available out front, but we took Lyft there. We came in around Happy Hour, and we were able to score two appetizers for $11 each. We got fried calamari and fish cervice as appetizers. For entree, we had the fish tacos and scallops. Both of the appetizers were excellent, and the cervice was so light and flavorful. My husband loved his scallop entree, and the taste and presentation were original and outstanding. My fish taco was enjoyable as well. For dessert, we had fresh churro that was paired with ice cream, which was excellent as well. Our meal came to $143 with taxes, which was a very good value with the quality and services offered. Our waiter was attentive and friendly, which made us felt right at home. As for the ambiance, it felt modern and relaxed. There were diverse customers from locals, tourists, and business people. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience and we will return.

I also ordered the Island Getaway cocktail and it was okay. A bit too strong on the rum. Other than that, food was good. Service: Our server, Jack, was very polite, attentive, and even brought us complimentary desserts for our special celebrations. His service is the reason I am rating this visit a 4 instead of a 3. Good job Jack! You redeemed my overall impression of Coasterra based on my prior negative experience. Ambiance: Overall, its quite a beautiful location with the city skyline views. Cant beat the views.

From start to finish, everything was wonderful and I will NEVER forget my experience. We were met immediately with great service as well as continuing to receive it from every member of staff including our lovely server. Every other member that brought out our food & drinks was just as delightful. The weather was perfect to be seated outdoors in their patio, it matched the relaxing and enjoyable vibe we had. The food, I mean, the FOOD was undeniably delicious and full of flavor. I've literally never had a better taco anywhere else. The Al pastor was exceptionally juicy and tasteful and I'm so glad I went with my go to because it's a meal I'll never forget. The Agua Fresca were so refreshing too, sweet but not overly sweet, just the right balance. Overall, I have another new favorite when I come back out again.

It was nice being able to watch the tacos being made. We got Classic Guacamole in addition to the chips and salsa. The guacamole was excellent, it had a little more lime than I usually find, it was nice and fresh. The chips were fresh too! We weren't starving so we each got 2 Tacos and were very happy with them. We got grilled Baja Fish Tacos, Tamarind Shrimp, Carnitas, and Filet Mignon. The last 3 were recommendations of our waiter; they were right on. It was a great way to celebrate a birthday.
