You will not be allowed to have additional guests even for a few hours, therefore it is very safe and private. I love the architecture which ranges from Mexican Baroque to traditional Spanish Colonial and the entire compound has cobblestone streets and cement walking paths. There are several little gardens of roses and other lovely flowers making this a great place to take walks and enjoy the scenery. The large pool/jacuzzi area has plenty of lounge chairs and shaded seating, a shuffleboard court, a gym, and a banquet room. There is also a large surfing beach with several sturdy palapas for all guests and owners to use. A visit to Las Gaviotas is certainly a treat. I love to relax, enjoy a good book followed by a leisurely walk, then swimming and a relaxing dinner when I visit.

We stayed in house 137- the only issues we had was a broken umbrella which wasn't a huge deal at all especially since it was pretty chilly during our stay and the showers are not ADA. I had to get into the shower and help my mom in as it's a tub with no way in except about 2 feet high and no rails to hold on to. We will definitely be back!!

Native Residence is at the top of a mountain, in a private gated community with lovely homes, so if you plan to walk, it's safe but know it's quite a hike. The views of the mountains, Pacific and Rosarito's Christ of the Sacred Heart statue are beautiful. Fortunately, Ubers are available if you don't have your own vehicle. The chalet is classy, has high quality materials, yet it was very comfortable. The lights were thoughtfully decorated and very tasteful. The scent of the bed linens were absolutely incredible. Our room offered fresh water, a small fridge, an espresso machine, a smart tv with projector, black out blinds and a private fire pit on our balcony. The three chalets have their own shared jacuzzi to use with ocean view and it was heavenly. They offer fresh breakfast à la cart on the upper shared patio or in your room. It has a very quaint community feel there yet you have your own space if you prefer it. Carlos and the ladies working there were very kind and helpful. I honestly can't remember the last time I slept that well! We also loved the shared kitchen, which created such a welcoming atmosphere. Breakfast was a highlight each morning with the chilaquiles and lavender pancakes were absolutely delicious, and having a nespresso machine in the room was the perfect added touch. One white and one red, which were both tasty. Bone Marrow + Grasshopper Sauce Roasted Bone Marrow spread over on bread is always delicious! And just in case you're wondering, yes there's real grasshopper in the sauce, and we all ate grasshopper for the first time. It was basically like a spicy marmalade spread. Duck Breast + Orange Sauce & Burnt Onion Duck meat was tender and sauce paired well. Green Catch of the Day Ceviche + Persian Cucumber & Avocado The ceviche was delicioussss. A simple concoction that looked and tasted great with tortilla chips. Potato Gnocchi +Suckling Pig Sauce, Padua, Zucchini This was also yummy. Chewy, tender. I heard about this place, half winery, half farm-to-table-high end restaurant, with a touch of 'glamping resort' because I had seen the pictures in some glossy mags about how the rich and famous travel. No worries, if I could go and spend the day, you can do it too. Because you really don't need to fork the $400 per minimalist-repurposed materials-beauty meets form factor cute boxes on the rocks. You can just go for the drinks and the food and you make a nice day trip from San Diego. Looks like crossing from Tecate is the easiest and fastest way, at least on the way back. Encuentro used to be called Endemico, and I am glad they changed the name, as it denotes something negative. Something that neither the environment, not the fertile nature nor the grapes are. Wine is abundant and the fruits from the land too. The winery includes 11 acres of mountain vineyards, you will enjoy a wine tasting bar open to the public from 11 am every day and an underground cellar, for which you need to make a group reservation. The vineyards produce Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Blanc and Nebiolo, among other varietals. This is a very peaceful place to be and extremely photogenic, showing all the splendor of the Guadalupe Valley, making great panoramas. Just watch out with the traffic...not the best drivers around there!

It's an open road and you will only feel comfortable if you are driving a truck or go 2 miles an hour. Secondly, our room wasn't ready until 3:45pm, the room was nice, but it wasn't cleaned properly. The floor was dusty and there were pieces of food next to the bed. The night tables were also dusty and the sink in the bathroom looked dirty. They advertise a rain shower head, but there's just water going everywhere at changing pressure, it's a nightmare if you are trying to wash your hair! Their spa closes at 3:30pm, so treatments are only available in the morning. Their pool is not heated and in order to access the jacuzzi, you have to pay a day pass at the spa ($80 per person). The complimentary breakfast they offer is just coffee, fruit and small muffin or brownie, but the menu they have is pretty good. We had the fit omelette, the brioche bread and the huarache and it was all very tasty. The one positive thing about this place is their restaurant "fuego". We ate there twice and loooooved their food. I wouldn't really recommend this property unless you have someone else driving you around. After doing more research, we realized there are wayyyy better properties, and this one is not worth the $200 a night.
