This was one of the experiences where you have to say first time I called in an order and waited 5 minutes at the hostess desk before being acknowledged by a waiter. He told me to wait when I told him I placed a to-go order and proceeded to sit people that came in after me. I am a first time guest and expected a lot more based on the reviews that were posted. Oh my God, I practically live here. Casa Ramos is so good and the service is superb. I love the manager (even though he is a SEATTLE SEAHAWKS fan)! I've frequented Casa Ramos with my family so many times that we have our own table (practically). On occasion we will use the self seating in the bar which is AWESOME especially of you are a sports fan. The bar is classy yet very welcoming to the casual fan of libations. The three flat screen TVs will make any sports fan happy, and the beer and ale on tap is the BEST in Lincoln. I always get the 20 oz. Sierra Nevada Pale Ale with is a perfect compliment to the chips and salsa! My younger son and I usually order the Carne Asada y Mas (w/ chili relleno). My little girl loves the chicken enchilada, and my older son usually gets the awesome Chimi Changa. If you are in Lincoln, you simply must stop by this restaurant for dinner. My wife and I visited for the first time this last Friday afternoon to try this place out. We waited to be seated for about 4 minutes by the bartender even though it was basically empty.... The waitress finally came after like 10 more minutes to ask us for drinks and to ask us if we were ready?????? We ordered our food and got it in a timely manner. The food wasn't that great. We ordered the ground beef tacos with sides of rice and beans. We will try this place one more time...maybe business isn't really busy during the afternoon but the service was Not good....maybe waitress was having a "bad" day. I tend to be a bit picky about Mexican food. I'm by far a foodie or snob, however I do grade things a bit harsher for Mexican food that is average. Casa Ramos is just ok. I don't think you will be awed by the traditional flavors or blown away by anything. It is just ok. When fast service places make a better burrito than a full service restaurant it is a bit disappointing. Salsa was ok and the chips were good. If you need to sit down for a lunch then I guess this will do. But it you are wanting a better than average meal, and it dinner time you can probably do better. Honestly I was very surprised Lincoln could have a good chain Mexican food place. Oh and it not be packed on days like mothers day or when a game is on? Maybe I should write a bad review so nobody comes here... Food is decent Mexican food, several different kind of beans refried, black, cholesterol free, Mexican. I've had the Mexico city tacos both times I've came here because they're really good. I have to say carnitas is the best. I'll scarf down three tacos in under 5 minutes. Drinks are also delish. Casa Ramos and I have come to be good friends this summer. Every meal I've had here has been satisfying to my tastebuds and my belly. I've had their arros con pollo dish, and their beans are so cheeeeesey! Also tried their albondigas soup, which was okay. I mean, i've tasted better albondigas, but I have to admit that Caso Ramos' version was less than amazing. This one tasted a little watery. Tried their sopapillas, which is a dessert dish that has fried flour tortillas sprinkled with cinnamon sugar, topped with ice cream, whipped cream, and a drizzle of chocolate syrup. Going into this restaurant I was truly hoping that the experience was good enough to give them high marks. But as the evening went on the stars kept falling off the scoreboard. The only reason it even received two stars was due to seeing how hard the mariachi band was working the tables. They seated us fairly quickly which was great. Having never dined there before, we wanted to closely view the menu. When we were finally ready to place an order the waitress was cordial enough to answer few questions as well as stating that one of the order we had placed was her favorite. Good enough. The food came with very little fan fare. Visually the dishes weren't all that extraordinary. However, my wife ordered a specially marinated steak dish of some sort. It sounded all nice on the menu but the actual thinly sliced steak that was really tough to chew. And I am not exaggerating this, I had to take a slice of it to confirm her complaints. The meat was extremely fibrous but the ordor it emanated was very fatty. Very odd and unpleasant combination to say the least. As for me, I had ordered one of the taco combinations. The plate was okay, nothing stood out but nothing was terribly bad either. It's sad to say but just really anti-climactic. To top off the whole mediocre dining experience, our waitress has decided to leave us completely parched by not promptly refilling our fountain drinks. I had to resort to flagging down a Busboy to get me that refill. Not fun at all. We had such a high hopes for this place... so many restaurants come and go in Lincoln, actually more on the 'go' and not so much on the 'come' side of the equation. Anyway, unfortunately for us and Casa Ramos we won't be going back there anytime soon. Portion sizes are HUGE so there shall be no reason you'd leave here hungry! This is our second time to this location; first time, service was good other than having to wait a little bit to be acknowledged when we came in. This time, we were seated immediately, provided drinks, then our server arrived. Admittedly, It took awhile to decide on our order, so she had to check back a few times. After placing order, we requested a change (no beans, extra rice on one plate) and got attitude from server. She did not check back very often, leaving drink cups empty for extended periods. Another server came by and picked up our empty plates. After we were totally finished eating, we sat for a good fifteen minutes waiting for our receipt. Tough review for me to write - my grandma loves this place and it is super close to her house. Pros - The waiter service was great - very attentive and friendly. Beers were extremely affordable. Cons - The entree prices seemed really unreasonably high to me. They were more expensive than Zocalo or Centro in midtown Sacramento, and the food quality was way below that benchmark. My tostada was an oversized mound of past-its-date iceberg lettuce and the $2 extra for sour cream and mediocre guac didn't help it go down fast at all - the whole dish lacked flavor. I was in Lincoln for a few days and wanted to go out to eat with my friend Ileana, she suggested Casa Ramos. The restaurant is a typical "cantina" type of setting offering full bar service, happy hour and a menu that offers something for everyone. The staff were attentive and checked back to make sure all was well during our meal. They serve some of the biggest Margaritas I have seen and the "Large Dos Equis" beer on draft was gigantic! I ordered the Mexico City Tacos which are three tacos with your choice of grilled Chicken, Carnitas or Carne asada(I ordered one of each), comes with a side of their home made salsa and whole beans and rice, guacamole and sour cream. I ordered them with flour tortillas vs. Corn and refried beans vs whole beans. They were served warm and fresh and my only comment was the carne asada tasted "fishy" as if somebody use a utensil that had been used to serve the grilled fish, since I am not a fish lover this left a bad aftertaste in my mouth. The refried beans were good but again, didn't have that "wow" factor. The rice was tasty and fluffy, had a nice color and I'd like to know how to make rice like they do. I did have a look at the dessert or "postre" menu and had to laugh at the Sopapillas which they described as fried flour tortilla strips.......this is NOT a sopapilla and not sure why Mexican Restaurants try to pass this off as Sopapillas. I'm from New Mexico, land of the Sopapillas! A true sopapilla is flour dough that is rolled flat and deep fried, it will puff up like a pillow and the best way to eat it in my humbled opinion is with drizzled honey, that's it, no whipping cream and cinnamon and chocolate and ice cream; I skipped dessert. My meal with one beer came to $25 which I thought was expensive and if I returned to Casa Ramos it would be for Happy Hour so I could get a deal. Although the food was good I felt it wasn't good enough to justify paying $25. I'd say go to Casa Ramos if you live in Lincoln because it's convenient. On a positive note, if you are a lover of Mariachi music and old Spanish love songs, you'll love the music that is played while you eat. read more

I ordered to-go over the phone, and the prices aren't on the menu online. It is absolutely ridiculous to spend $19 for a burrito. With no flavor. And barely any meat. The $17 burrito tasted like a bean and cheese burrito but atleast it looked fancy with the toppings of shredded iceberg lettuce and tomatoes on top. We went in for a late lunch around 1:00pm on a weekday. . The place was almost empty. We were seated promptly by the lady who turned out to be our server. After being seated the server didn't return for at least 10 minutes. Thankfully, after about 5 minutes, a busboy came by and took our drink order. Once the server came back and asked if we were ready to order. My wife asked a question about the menu which the server answered. My wife looked at the menu where the server pointed, and was going to order...well, she would have except the server abruptly walked off without saying a word. Strange. The server came back a few minutes later and took our order. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time. The main course was tasty, the rice and beans were just warm, not hot. Our server never checked on us after the food was delivered. The busboy again saved the day by stopping by a couple of times for drink refills, and to clear the table. I have to say we were disappointed with the server. She seemed very disinterested in her job, had the energy level of...well, she had no energy level. Perhaps she was having a bad day, or hates her job. She seemed pretty miserable. My wife and I normally just come here for chips, salsa and margaritas. But the last few times I have gotten this wonderful slop. I say slop because it looks like vomit. Like I seriously ate a chicken and a container of salsa then threw it all up. But for whatever reason it tastes so good. It is chicken, onions and mushrooms in a creamy tomato sauce.
