I came here for breakfast on a Sunday. Looks like a few regulars visit here a bit. The have two entrances with parking on either side. I ordered a veggie omelette with toast, meat pastolitos and a Cafe Con leche. I'm not a fan on plastic plates and styrofoam coffee cups but the meat pastolito made me forget about everything else. Very sweet place that has a feels like home vibe from the welcoming staff to the deliciously home cooked food. This is one of worst service place we have even been. The waitress doesn't come to the table to serve. One of waitress is on the phone for a long time, not business related conversation. Another waitress sat outside the place takling with another when we need someone to fill water, ask for a check. Very unfriendly servers. We would not go there ever again. The place seems to honor those 3 PBSO deputies that killed in line of duty with their pictures placed inside the restaurant or just set up to show off? I am one of active duty first responders family. I am sure they would act differently based appearance. They are racist, check all reviews. Not much magic to its rough filling, that was surely light on onion, or salt, or much of anything to flavor the filling. The toastada Cubana, toasted Cuban bread, is a simple, and authentic Joy of breakfast with a real cortadito that's strong, simple, and sweet. That upped the game. The breakfasts that I witnessed going by, and going down, were solid and plentiful eating. The wait staff was pleasant, and gracious. The dining room is humbly furnished, a melting pot of people, and cultures; of happy chatter, in multiple languages. One caffeination, indivisible, with Cubanos for all... Casa Santiago in Royal Palm Beach has been around for as long as I can remember. In the past 25 years it's had around 10-15 owners. A Dominican family that did an okay job, a guy from New Jersey that tried renaming it Tropical Chicken, a Brazilian couple and several others that lasted less than a year. Some did it better than others, but no one excelled. Mediocrity is what Casa Santiago was all about. You can an should erase the past. The current Cuban ownership of Casa Santiago has it running better than ever. In my opinion, the space always had the correct vibe. Quaint, unpretentious and unapologetic of the humble decor. But the most important part, the food, was not real, correct, right, authentic, genuine. The place totally lacked that je ne sais quoi. Two weeks ago I revisited Casa Santiago, after a three or four year hiatus. I immediately felt the difference, it felt like I was walking into my Tia's (Aunt's) house. It smelled Cuban. The air was filled with that scent of fresh brewed caffecito, garlic, sazón and pig fat. The waitresses were chismiando (gossiping) and the people seated were a mix of those who grew up on real Cuban food and those who unknowingly stumbled into a rare example of Cuban culture and cuisine. The food is amazing and unbelievably affordable, starting with croquetas, pastelitos, pan con mantequilla, The Cuban sandwich, media noche and pan con lechon are stellar. Main dishes all run under $15 and include the lechon asado, picadillo, ropa vieja, bistec empanisado, ajiaco and the tamal en casuela are spot on delicious. The sides, frijoles, congri, yuca, maduros, tostones, fufu are all legit. And the desserts !!! Flan, tres and quatro leches, are the bomb and cost $2.75 !!!! Everything, down to the waitresses' no nonsense spicy attitude is real Cuban. Whatever the changes are that they have made, keep doing what you're doing. This is now the best and only authentic Cuban restaurant in Palm Beach County. Finally, a place that not only looks and feels Cuban but cooks real Cuban food. I (who was born in Camaguey, Cuba and enjoyed my late mother's Cuban cooking for over fifty years) declare this place as thee Cuban place, the best and most authentic Cuban place in Palm Beach County. read more

Came during lunch on a Friday and there weren't many tables occupied but had to wait for someone to clean off table and wait to order and wait for drinks and silverware. Atmosphere is super casual and low key in kind of a sketchy plaza with a liquor store. I had the chicken fricasse which was pretty greasy but fall off the bone tender. Forgot to write a review about this place. Been here several times. They are on the southwest side/back of their plaza so they are easy to miss from Okeechobee blvd if you don't see the plaza sign. I've had the cuban sandwich here along with the pan con chorizo. The cuban did not impress me at all; pork was very dry and one of the less flavorful cuban sandwiches I've had. The chorizo was only marginally better. Went with a friend one time and he wasn't wild about his meal either, though the portions were good. Service has been pleasant and good for me; I did on one occasion however watch a man and his son walk out after not being waited on. On the positive, they make a good batido de mamey and the prices are pretty inexpensive overall. There aren't many cuban places in the western communities (realize this one is technically cuban/dominican), with most of them closer to West Palm proper. Awesome deal ($0.75 each!) for Cuban pastries (cheese, guava & cheese, coconut), but you'll need to come early for the full selection. We stopped by around 5pm on a Friday, and they only had cheese and coconut remaining. We tried the Coconut, which had good flavor, but the pastry was on the drier side so I wouldn't get this again. The guava & cheese and cheese were both really good, and I would get both again. We also got the small Tres Leches ($2.50), which was solid, but very, very milky. The food (breakfast/lunch) here looked really good, and you get giant portions. They also have fresh fruit juices available, but usually only in the mornings on the weekend. Definitely stop by for Cuban pastries and/or Cuban dishes! Parking is easy since they have a decent sized lot. read more

This place was recommended by a friend, but in my opinion is not worth the trip. Food was just ok. Nothing out of the ordinary. We've gone to this Cuban restaurant every time we're in the area, for the past five years. We love the quality of the food and the comfortable mom-and-pop local feel of the restaurant. We're usually the only gringos in the place, however we're always served with the same friendly and courteous service the locals receive. We LOVE this restaurant. We drove past this little spot completely by accident one Saturday and I wrote the name down as someplace I wanted to try out. Today, we visited Casa Santiago for lunch on one of my almost 5 year old daughter and my "culinary adventures." LOL ;) We were pleased. When you walk in, it's very quaint (small, with only about maybe 20 tables) but everyone is friendly. We chose a clean table and took a seat. The waitress came over and took our order. Leah ordered black beans and rice. I decided to go out on a limb and try something I had never had before. I ordered Bandeja Paisa, which came with white rice, red beans, sweet plantains, grilled steak, fried pork skin or hispanic sausage, fried egg, and avocado. She didn't ask if I wanted the sausage or the pork skin but that didn't matter. It came with pork skin by default, which confused me a litlte since I had never had an entire strip before. I had no clue how to eat it but I figured it out and it was pretty tasty, though chewy (which is expected since it is, after all, fried pork skin). Anyway, my avocado was conspicuously missing but that was ok because I was so full by the time I finished. There was a homemade hot sauce on the table which I tried (and then poured on almost everything on my plate because it was so good). For dessert, I decided to order a pastel de queso. Yum. It was still warm when it got to the table and although my daughter was not a fan of cream cheese in a pastry, I am, and it was one of the best I've had.
